mykel, I think it was amplified because of the very vocal campaign launched by cyber Pinoys, which some US citizens caught. I didn't even hear of the one about the UK, but I guess it's more because they aren't as rabid about AI as people are over here. Some (perhaps a lot) of them don't even watch US TV.

But, really, what's important now is that these people who claim to be die-hard fans actually go out and buy her singles and albums, and not leech them off of the internet. My goodness! Pustahan tayo, yan at yan pa rin gagawin ng mga yan. Kamusta naman yun?

True. Even celebrities were tweeting how to vote for Jessica. But I don't think we should put the blame solely on those who abuse it. 11 seasons na ng AI, nasolusyunan na dapat ng AI 'yan, if indeed these votes were counted. But yes, casual American voters were probably turned off by exaggerated comments and campaigns.

I don't think the non-US votes were counted at all. But who knows? I just find it in poor taste when it was encouraged (an understatement) by opinion makers.

If they spent half as much time becoming forces for change here (in a good way) as they did monitoring the performances and results of a TV show in another country, the outcome of which hardly matters in the grand scheme of things and to a lot of our countrymen, I would have nothing but the utmost respect for them.
