School dilemma

Mga fellow Mommies and Daddies, I need your advise about my son whom I would like to transfer to a Catholic School ( my alma mater), my husband does not approve that is why I am also having second thoughts. His reason being, my son is currently studying in one of a special science school which is very hard to get in and teaching is excellent - most of the times , almost no tuition fee at all, and he had established close knit friends with other dads in school. I have my reasons of transferring my son, too much pressure on my child when it comes to academics, public school system where values are taught secondary, i want him to grow up just like me and her Dad with strong religious values, unhealthy competitiveness between parents. Thanks in advance to those who will reply.

Nasa magulang at tahanan iyang STRONG RELIGIOUS VALUES. Kung kulang ang turo sa paaralan e di ipasok mo sa Sunday-school type Scripture class ... sayang kung aalisin sa "selective" school ang bata at mukhang matalino naman....

My observation: Some mothers shelter their children too much.

iretain mo nalang yung school. mahihirapan magadjust yan kapag palipat-lipat ng school. for example, yung kapatid ko. he was consistently the top student in his first school, a public school, with 100+ students per section. pero nalipat siya sa isang "better" private school, with only 30+ students per section, dahil sa kagustuhan ng nanay ko. ok naman ang teaching dun, as per my experience, pero for some reason sobrang nasira ang studies ng kapatid ko. in the end, he graduated with almost failing grades.

naexperience ko narin yung ganito, pero instead of school, paiba-iba kami ng teachers in some subjects. grabe, disaster talaga. we hated every new teacher kasi we were so used to the teaching style of our first teacher. badtrip nga kami sa admin kung bakit pinageexperimentuhan kami ng ganun. kala siguro nila maganda yung ganung setup. hay.

the pressure in school - it is normal, i tell you. it will help your child get in pretty easy in the university of his dreams, if he has one. i am a graduate of a science high school and i appreciated every pressure that our teachers and my fellow competitive classmates gave me. it's healthy competition, mind you. in the end, i made it to the university that i want, and college passed like a breeze kasi mas nahirapan pa'ko nung high school. as for values, i think that is a parent's duty already. saka di naman kelangan talagang may Values subject ang anak mo to learn values. it's a life subject in my opinion, and can be learned everyday.

so ayun, i recommend na DO NOT TRANSFER your child. tama ang husband mo in my opinion.

He is 8 yrs old and doesn't want to transfer..that's one of my point as well, elementary should'nt be this big a pressure..siguro if high school na then I can perhaps push him more..but your advise is well being considered.. thanks so much ,my_2_cents, iceburn,valarc, one-shot.
