Couldn't play the link. But did Noli say "Negro"?

Is "Negro" a bad word today? It may no longer be commonly used or heard ("black" seems to have taken over) in everyday conversation, but is it necessarily offensive now? There is still the United Negro College Fund in the US but nobody seems to make a howl.

AFAIK, the offensive "N" word is "n****r".

What's wrong with the word negro? Politically correct standards of the US do not necessarily apply in this country. If it did then we have to rename the provinces of Negros Oriental and Negros Occidental.

Apparently, the new Pex vbulletin doesn't recognize "negro" as a slur but recognize "******" (that's "in-chick") as one.

since when was negro made a bad word in Philippine culture?

also, the "N" word is "n1gger", not "negro".

the TS is making something out of nothing.

check it, and next time, dapat matuto ka munang magtagalog ng onti, ha?
where do you think the term ******* came from?

oh, and negro may be a tagalog term as well, and it may be even present in other philippine dialects and languages. at the very least though, it's also a filipino word.

Pero colloquially, hindi ba ethnic slur kasi yung term na negro? Kayo ba dini-describe nyong negro yung mga kakilala nyong maitim ang balat?

So how do you translate "The black guy is wearing a black shirt." in Filipino? Not Tagalog ha?
