Hello PRC!

Personally, it's easier to part with my dough kapag run for a cause (kuripot mode on).

They might not be too glamorous (usually shwangit ang singlet at walang ibang perks) or some might be glamorous but actually expensive (sige nalang nakatulong naman) but to know that we can use our kilometer logs to help change lives and situations, that is rewarding in itself, yes?

Event Details

Standard Running Distances – 16KM and 8KM run routes starting from Philsports Arena (ULTRA) to key areas around the Ortigas – Pasig business district. There shall also be a 400m dash sprint event for kids inside the Philsports Arena Track Oval. There shall be a “Barefoot Running” category for all events.

3KM Fun Run– This is a short 3KM run for newbies and leisurely runners. The difference of this event is that it is not an individual event so one should run with a buddy or more. This is the event for parent and child, husband and wife, grandparent and grandchild, best friends or even a leisurely run with the whole running team! Members of the Philippine national athletics team shall also be invited to participate in this event.

NEW EVENT!
Titan Circuit Team Relay Challenge– This is a new team event in which groups of 10 will compete against each other in a relay going through various stations that will test their endurance, strength and agility. Various circuit challenges await the teams such as plyometric exercises, sprints, uphill runs, etc.

SPECIAL EVENT!
Team Hydration Station Competition – Volunteer running groups will be assigned to host specific water stations. They will be tasked to decorate their stations with an Olympic-inspired theme donning their favorite sports event or team.

QUEZON CITY CUBAO LIONS CLUB (QCCLC) is celebrating its 42nd year of service to the community this year. Since its establishment in 1970, QCCLC has been involved in numerous socio-civic activities that impact the lives of the poor. Through the years, QCCLC has successfully completed these activities through its own resources as well as in partnership with other entities like the national government institutions, local government units, as well as from the private sector.

In the last 10 years, QCCLC has been consistently supporting projects whose beneficiaries are the most vulnerable sector of society – the CHILDREN. Our efforts and resources are concentrated on helping these children of poor families.

In 1991, QCCLC founded the Cubao Lions Scholarship Foundation. To this day, the Foundation has supported more than 50 bright and deserving college scholars. QCCLC is also actively supporting the rescued street children now residing in Nayon ng Kabataan (NK). For your information, NK is a Department of Social Welfare and Development National Capital Region (DSWD-NCR) facility for deprived and neglected children and located in Welfareville, Mandaluyong City. QCCLC supports in the children’s total rehabilitation process by its cash and non-cash donations. Likewise, through the initiative of some of its members, QCCLC also co-manages a residence and livelihood skills training center at NK.

To support its projects this year, the QCCLC is sponsoring a FUN RUN (3K, 5K and 10K) at the University of the Philippines Diliman Campus Oval, Quezon City on October 28, 2012. Assembly time is 4:30 AM while race will start at 5:30 AM.

TAGUIG CITY – The Philippine running community joined forces to help the victims of Typhoon Pablo as over a thousand showed up at the Rescue Run 2012 last December 23 at the Bonifacio Global City. Each participant shelled out a minimum donation of PHP 200.00 to enter the five or 10-kilometer category, with thousands more in cash and kind pouring in on race day. READ MORE.

Lordei Hina, a BS Political Science major was the victim of an attempted robbery and assault inside the UP campus last February 2012. She has since been recovering her health.
