(I love the Pokemon games sa gameboy but not the anime version.

Yeah! The Pokemon mania, not just the anime but the game itself.

Like the Angry Birds fever ngayon, kabi-kabila noon ang mga Pokemon franchise, mapa-tiyangge man o department store. Then si Pikachu ang mascot ng Pokemon, thanks to Ash.

I was born in the early 90s and ngayon ko lang naa-appreciate buhay dati. Dun sa dati naming bahay (where I grew up) pagkagaling sa school, mandatory nap muna bago makapaglaro. Pag mataya-taya or langit lupa laro, ako laging taya kasi mejo lampa ako. Pero back then, i was aching to grow up. I used to imitate teenagers by trying to be demure. Mahinhin effect. It seems only yesterday when 10 years ago happens to be still in the 90s. Hay nostalgic..

..Which reminds me of the quote from the movie Midnight in Paris:
Nostalgia is denial - denial of the painful present... the name for this denial is golden age thinking - the erroneous notion that a different time period is better than the one one's living in - it's a flaw in the romantic imagination of those people who find it difficult to cope with the present.

ang tumatak talaga sa alaala ko ay ang walang katapusang brownout, 1990 earthquake, and mount pinatubo eruption. directly affected kami ng tatlong major events na yan. but what i'm mostly proud of the 90's is yung pop-culture. the music scene both here and abroad was at its peak, especially with OPM. ang daming magagaling na banda and composers. lots of great original movies were also shown in hollywood. hindi uso yung mga sequels, prequels na yan.

i also miss the pinoy sitcoms (palibhasa, home along, abangan ang susunod.. etc) and the non-biased news programs. ngayon tadtad ng showbiz and proud pinoy news ang balita. kakasuka. pati sa primetime ginawang tambayan ng mga nakakabobong telenovelas. primetime should only be alloted to creative and innovative shows and sitcoms. shows that make you think!

Lumaki ako sa panonood ng Anime at mga science shows sa channel 9 like Beakmans World, Newton's Apple, the Science Show at mga National Geographic specials sa channel 4/2 ata yun, tulad ng Infinite Voyage, Encyclopedia Britannica, The Dinosaurs and so on. Well, in other words umiikot sa tv ang mundo ko nung mga panahon na yun. Mamamatay ako kapag nawala ang tv namin, as in.

Paborito ko itong Beakman's World noong bata pa ako..

LOL. I remember when chics wore these. I'm pretty sure stripper prostitutes started the trend (ie the Spice Girls).
