Even engineers, chemists, etc. can take the CFA exams. It is a self study program But you need to get at least 3 years experience in Front Office or any position in the financial/investments industry involved in decision-making in order for them to grant you the charter.

Sir, would you be able to PM the company that sponsored your CFA examination?

    Time for me to share....

I took up BS Acctg in UST. After graduation, SGV offered me a job which I accepted after after passing the board exam. I stayed for 3 years then moved to a GFI. After working for a couple of years in a GFI, my fiance and I decided our luck in Sg. Good thing both of us were employed by EY Sg. After a year, we moved to the land down under.
I was also hoping to work in SGV eventhough I'm not really an accountant. Atleast in the Advisory Services.

It must be fulfilling to have a job that suits your degree

Anyway, hindi naman din mahirap maghanap, basta you know the answers sa tatanungin sa iyo. Bihira nalang din yung nagdidiscriminate ng schools, basta you fit the bill.

haha sayang naman kung hindi tayo nagabot sa AB, haha

madugo ang dinaanan ko after graduation and passing the board exam.

Yep. Normally, they would try to find how closely related your previous experiences are in the job you are applying for.

I am planning to study in Canada after taking board exam (CPA). I just want to know other people's experiences na rin baka sakali magbago isip. hehe. I am currently attending summer classes at AMV. gagraduate na rin finally this June!

PS: kasama po sa curriculum ng AMV yung summer class ah.
After ko grumaduate and before ako magtake ng CPA board exam last October 2011, may offers na ang 2 out of 4 big 4 accounting firms sa Pilipinas. As a graduate of AMV college of accountancy madali lang makahanap ng trabaho sa big 4 lalo naman sa SGV dahil si AMV ang "founder" ng college.

Currently nasa SGV ako and working as auditor, clients ko ngayon puro nasa China. One positive point sa audit ay ang load ng learning, twice a year papasok ka sa training rooms ng SGV for almost 2 weeks each. And may mga IFRS accreditation kang kelangan tapusin as you step forward in public practice. Of course, negative talaga dun ay yung dami ng OT which usually TY. hahahaha.
