Isa sa mga bagong afternoon soaps ng GMA 7 sa second quarter ng taon ang Black Widow at interesting ang casting na naisip ng network. Pagsasama-samahin nila sila Jennica Garcia, Jackie Rice, at Geoff Eigenmann. Ang nadinig naming direktor nito ay si Mark Reyes.

Matutuwa nito ang mga fans ni Jackie na sobrang nami-miss na siyang mapanood na umaarte dahil sa Bubble Gang lang siya regular na napapanood eh every Friday lang ang gag show.

Ganito kasi 'yan, unang balita eh Black Widow yung title ng serye. Tapos napalitan daw, naging Madrasta. Ngayon, pinalitan na naman at naging Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka. Siguro sa press con. natin malalaman kung ano ba talaga ang final title ng serye. Parang yung Sinner or Saint noon, the day before the press con. eh iba pa ang title niya at nagdesisyon lang sila noong mga gabi na.

Ang alam ko, kasama talaga si Jennica rito. Baka nakaligtaan lang isama ng writer noong Scene.

Michael de Mesa gives ‘pointers’ to sons Geoff and Ryan

For the first time, veteran actor Michael de Mesa and son Geoff Eigenmann are going to work together in a television series. Their upcoming project, entitled Kasalanan Ba ang Ibigin Ka?, will air weekday afternoons beginning June 4 on GMA-7.



During the story conference held early this week at the GMA Network Center, de Mesa was asked by reporters from which parent did Geoff get his acting skills: from him or from ex-wife Gina Alajar.

“Siyempre sa akin,” he quips. “Joke lang. Pareho naman.”

Michael de Mesa has been in the industry for close to two decades now, starting his showbiz career at the age of 15. Sure, he has gained not just popularity but also respect from everyone in the industry because of his professionalism. Does he share his “trade secret” to his sons who are following in his footsteps?

“Yes. Tuwing napapanood ko siya tapos ‘pag nagkikita at nagkakausap kami, binibigyan ko naman siya ng pointers.”

He feels proud that within just a short span of time, Geoff and Ryan have improved so much in their craft.

“I’m really proud of my boys: Ryan, Geoff and AJ — although si AJ hindi na niya pinagpatuloy ang pag-aartista. With Ryan and Geoff, malaking malaki ang improvement nila kasi seryoso sila e. Hindi sila pa-petiks petiks in how they treat their job. They love their work. 'Yun naman ang lagi kong pinapaalala sa kanila e: to be serious with their work and to love their craft. So kailangan du'n naka-focus e. And I’m happy naman na ganu'n naman ang mga boys ko. Very serious sila sa craft nila.”

Asked if Geoff also gives him pointers in acting, “Si Geoff magbibigay ng pointers sa akin? Subukan lang niya,” jokes de Mesa.

“OK lang naman e. As an actor, I’m open. For example, kung magka-eksena kami ni Geoff, at kung meron siyang kailangan sa akin na hindi niya siguro nakukuha, then he’s free to tell me. I mean, collaboration naman ‘yan e. I won’t take it against him, hindi ko pepersonalan kasi it’s part of the job naman e.”

Not all celebrity families get a fair share of the spotlight, but for the Eigenmann’s the opportunities never cease to come by.

“We all feel very blessed. Lahat kami nagpapasalamat sa Diyos kasi binibigyan kami ng work and also dahil magkakasama kami, which also adds to the fun,” says de Mesa.

He also recalled that the only TV series where most of the Eigenmanns have worked together in was ‘Cebu.’

“Pero hindi talaga kumpleto kasi yung mga bata hindi pa sila artista noon, it was more the seniors, kami. Pero yung lahat talaga, including the younger generation wala pa.”

Geoff Eigenmann excited to work with dad in new afternoon series, comments on case against cousin Andi

Kapuso heartthrob Geoff Eigenmann says he’s excited to work with his dad Michael de Mesa in GMA’s new afternoon drama program Kasalanan Ba ang Ibigin Ka?, which is scheduled to air its first episode on June 4.



This is the first time that Geoff and Michael will be working together in a television series. The last time they were together was in the film, First Day High.

“Pero iba ‘yun e, 'eto halos araw araw kaming magkasama or every other day, and iba kasi I’m sure kasi tututukan ako niyan.”

Asked whether he feels pressured by the fact that he will be working alongside his father who is very well an established actor in the industry, he says that he sees working with a family member an advantage rather than a hindrance.

“Actually ako, ‘pag may nakakasama akong family member sa work, I don’t really feel the pressure, I feel more relaxed kasi siyempre, kilala mo na yung tao. In this new project, ang kasama ko tatay ko who has seen me since the time I was in diapers. Mas kumportable ako kasi alam kong tutulungan nila ako.”

“He (de Mesa) found out first that we will be working on this project first than I did. The moment I found out, I was really happy. Maganda kasi ang istorya and in this one, mag-ama rin kami. It is something to really look forward to.”

In Kasalanan Ba ang Ibigin Ka?, Geoff will team up once again with Jackie Rice as his leading lady. Jackie and Geoff recently starred in an episode of GMA’s Spooky Nights.

Geoff says that he’s comfortable working with Jackie because they have a good chemistry on and off-screen.

“'Yun din ang hinahanap ko, ‘pag may nakakapartner ako sa isang project, yung mararamdaman mong may chemistry talaga kayo so when you do the scenes hindi na kayo kinakabahan pa and you feel all the emotions.”

In the soap’s story, Geoff’s character will fall in love with Jackie’s. However, the two will eventually split and before long Jackie will fall in love with a much older – and more matured – divorced man (Michael de Mesa). But, what is unknown to her is that Michael is the father of her ex. In the end father and son turn into rivals, besting each other to win Jackie’s heart.

Apart from his new afternoon soap, Geoff also stars in the primetime series Legacy. Does he get enough time to rest?

“May time na halos magsasabay ang taping nito with Legacy pero OK lang kasi anyway, Legacy is almost finished and hindi naman ako yung lead du'n so may days na off ako, nakakapahinga pa naman din ako.”

Despite his hectic taping schedule, Geoff makes sure he has time for girlfriend Carla Abellana.

“Yeah! Nagkikita pa rin naman kami pero these past few weeks medyo hindi, siguro mga three to four times palang kami nagkasama kasi ‘coz she started taping also. Pero OK naman, phone call is fine.”

Geoff will start taping for his new soap next week, but he’s not complaining.

“I’m very happy kasi maski hindi makapahinga dahil tuloy tuloy ang work, ok lang naman sa akin ‘yun. I’d rather have it that way than may break e, para hindi masira ang momentum.”

Geoff also commented on an issue linking his cousin Andi Eigenmann to a fracas wherein the latter’s ex-boyfriend Albie Casiño was apparently beaten up by Andi’s peers in the parking lot of a bar in Makati.

“Honestly, especially on my part, I could honestly care less. Patunayan nila na my cousin (Andi) has a hand in it, fine, go ahead if you can and we’ll see. 'Yun lang. Everything is just gonna fall into place. Gagastos lang sila, mapapagod lang sila sa wala. But they can do what they want, this is a free country.”
