Yup. I'm surprised he took the vet minimum. He could have easily gotten a better deal elsewhere. Times sure have changed. Players are now taking a pay cut to play for the Nets!

EDIT: He did get better offers from other teams:

    Stefan Bondy ‏@NYDNInterNets

CJ Watson turned down more lucrative offers from multiple teams to sign w/ Nets according 2 agent. Phone call from @DeronWilliams sealed it.
I read that D-Will played a part in convincing Watson to come over. D-Will also said that he's not done. He's going to make some more recruiting.

    We now have:

    PG: Deron/CJ/Taylor
    SG: JJ/MarShon/Stack
    SF: Crash
PF: Tele/Evans (I'm expecting Hump to be signed anytime now)
    C: Lopez

Since Deron and Taylor can easily play the SG position, we just need another SF and another C. I'd love to sign Grant Hill but it's kinda far-fetched. I'd settle for Miles or Barnes.

Last year, it was Brooks. This season, Tyshawn Taylor has been impressive, at least in the summer league.

I hope he can get some playing time this season, even though we are stocked at the PG position.

the nets are signing kris humphries to a 2 year, $24 million contract.

$12 million a year, he's getting paid more than duncan.

  5. #325
Nets sign Hump for 12 mil a year for 2 years.

Now, this may look like an insane amount to pay Hump. But at this point, we can overpay players. Haha! In addition, we got Hump to agree on a shorter deal.

Now this is the good part. By next year, Hump will be a very good expiring contract. The 12 mil a year can help make salaries match for another good player. With the right inclusions, D12 can still happen.

    You did it again, BK.

the Nets are just a decent backup center away from challenging the Heat for the Eastern crown. the only way the Knicks will beat this team if they (NY) will play as a team which I think is not possible as of this moment.

so far, BK had an excellent offseason..

The Nets had indeed an excellent off-season, all thanks to the high-risk, high-reward strategy of Billy King. It helps that we have a Russian billionaire who's willing to spend.

Reports are saying that Milicic is within the Nets' radar. I think he's a decent backup for Lopez. Even "The Landlord" Shelden Williams is capable of doing backup chores for Lopez.

NBA: Kris Humphries re-signs with the Nets
    July 18, 2012 4:47pm

The Brooklyn Nets have agreed in principle to a new contract with power forward Kris Humphries, with ESPN reporting that the deal will be worth $24 million over two years.

The Nets confirmed via press release that they are bringing Humphries back but did not disclose terms of the agreement.

"Kris [Humphries] has been a very consistent player for us over the past two years," said Nets general manager Billy King. "He has developed into one of the top rebounding forwards in the league and we are very pleased to welcome him back."

Humphries last season played for the Nets on a one-year deal and averaged career-highs in games started (62), minutes played (34.9), points (13.8), rebounds (11.0), assists (1.5), steals (0.8) and blocks (1.2).

At one point, Humphries was thought to be the key to a deal for Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard, with the 27-year-old to be sent to the Cleveland Cavaliers as part of a three-team swap. That trade eventually broke down, but the Nets still expressed their preference to bring him back, deal or no deal for Howard, which led to his re-signing.

Humphries presumably caps off a frenzied off-season of spending that has seen the Nets dole out $330 million in new deals, says NBA.com's David Aldridge. In addition to Humphries, the Nets inked point guard Deron Williams, Jerry Stackhouse, CJ Watson and foreign player Mirza Teletovic, while also re-signing Brook Lopez and Gerald Wallace, and trading for Joe Johnson. - AMD, GMA News

There are reports of two more sign-ups. We'll soon have a back-up C in Nazr Mohammed. I wanted Darko, but I also like Nazr. He's a solid back-up just because he can defend the post and grab a few rebounds.

Word has it that we'll also sign-up Toko. He impressed me during the summer league. He's not afraid to give up fouls and he can also fill up the stat sheet. He'll be the back-up SF and he can play PF as well. I wanted Barnes, but you can't have them all. I'm just hoping that Toko will at least be decent enough in the league.

I think we now have 14 players and I'm not expecting them to sign up another player for flexibility purposes.

    RUMOR:

    Brian Geltzeiler ‏@hoopscritic

...I'm told the Nets are close to an agreement with Andrei Kirilenko...could be finalized as early as tomorrow...

How credible is this guy though? Never heard of him, also, IIRC the Nets can only offer the min now.

I read from the team's Facebook site that we signed Keith Bogans. A good defender and a shooter too.

Just no freak accidents this year, please.

He's followed by some legit writers, but it could be just so he can get his followers count up.

We can't do a sign and trade for AK. He'll have to agree to play for the minimum, and for a back-up role at that. This would be amazing if true, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

Hmm, I thinks it's widely reported now that he's staying in Russia.

Several reports indicate that Milicic could be going to the Bulls.

I hope the Nets will try Blatche. I know he didn't have a good season last year. But, he was beasting during the end of the 2010-2011 season.

He can play both 4 and 5 positions. He can score too. I think he would be a better pick up than Mohammed. That is if he's willing to take the vet's min.

Nazr is going to the Bulls. He chose the Bulls over the Nets. With that being said, baka si Darko ang mapunta satin.

Not really a fan of Blatche. He makes McGee look like a genius. At least si McGee may talent.

Pero malay natin, baka kelangan niya lang ng change of scenario.

Probably the "no training camp" excuse?
