There's no limit, really, but I suggest to sticking to a maximum of 3 orgs. Being an org takes up quite a lot of your time when you want to be active, and schoolwork can be affected. I joined probably 4 orgs in my whole stay in college, yet I only really committed most of my time only my home org.
