You're right: what she says is probably going to be the best account that we can hope to have. Even if the husband posts in PEX, we wouldn't really know he's the husband.

This however doesn't mean we can't ask the person seeking advice (if it's advice she's really seeking) to question his/her version of events. This also doesn't mean we can't warn observers to take things with a grain of salt.

yup, definitely, and people should give advice based on what they read and based on what they may know personally. just saying, that grain of salt thing, it's useless, we're not actually observers observing anything. we just read and react to whatever story is being told. that's fine, it's not about my life anyway.
