Manager? Try MT positions
Ang balita ko, 6 digits ang starting salary sa Credit Suisse and McKinsey. Sa FTI, I heard 5 digits. MMG, I'm not sure pero balita ko mabilis daw makaipon dun.If you really want hardcore consulting/advisory, try MMG, FTI consulting, Credit Suisse, McKinsey.
Hardcore nga lang din ang application
senorcarlito, extremely good as in scl graduate ka?
senorcarlito ano po yung MT?![]()
well, *** nag-iisang kilala kong nag McKinsey ay yung 2010 BAA scl. #1 pa sa CPA boards.
MT = management trainee
What usually makes more? BAA graduates, Engineering Graduates or Pre-med Graduates?
That I don't know.
Don't pre-med graduates continue to med school? o.O
what about you? what's your course and how much do you earn?![]()
@icewind IT graduates especially if from UP.after few years of experience there are companies that offer a 6 digit salary. Sa engg wala pa akong nababalitaan ng ganyan.in fact when i left pinas my salary was hardly 40k gross pa yun.
@galing up 40k gross? Dollars po ba yan o pesos? Monthly po ba yan or anually?
May I add that my father has a construction firm in Mindanao and I want to continue that firm after I graduate and expand it. What's the best course to pursue if I want to do that?
Two considerations:
1 - Do you want to be the center of the expertise? If so, you may want to take up a technical course, say Engineering, to help you understand the core of the business. Running it can be learned over time, but the technical aspect is not as easily learned.
2 - If you can afford to have somebody else be the expert, then you can take a business course to help you understand how a business works and help you run it.
You don't need to take BAA for this, as that career path leads to a more specialized career. You don't need all that accounting to run a business, if that's what you want anyway. That's not to say that a good knowledge of accounting won't help. It's just a more circuitous way of getting to where you want.
Note that the business course can even come in the form of a Master's degree, regardless of your undergraduate degree, so it doesn't even have to be what you apply for in college. Also, some people are self-taught entrepreneurs, so some people don't even have business degrees. But that's a special breed of person.
@curiouser What do you recommend as an undergraduate course if i plan to take and MBA in the future? I heard that it is best to take an engineering undergraduate course and then pursue MBA, is this true? if so what kind of engineering? I heard that industrial engineering is also about management. Or should I pursue BAA as an undergraduate degree then proceed to an MBA?
Any ideas about Investment banking? What is it? How much salary does an investment banker make?
Well, there are no hard and fast rules about this.
If you want to continue your father's business, a degree in either field (engineering or business) should be enough. IE is indeed the closest to business among the Engineering fields, but in the industry where I work for example, it isn't as prized as, say, Chemical Engineering, which is a more technical field, and in some ways, is as flexible as IE.
Again, it depends on your interests. Eng'g tends to have very math intensive programs. BAA tends to have a more qualitative approach, but the quantitative aspect relies heavily on logic (in which a good foundation in Math will help).
Any undergrad course (given work experience) will allow you to take an MBA - there is no prerequisite undergraduate degree in most cases.
Investment banking is not so big locally, though we have some firms. It's bigger in HK, and, in SG because of the China connection. They tend to be the highest paid bankers, but again, are subject to local salary comparators (i.e. how much do other companies pay for equivalent jobs).
So don't expect your 100K peso salary at entry level (though it may just happen, depending on inflation.) and don't expect to be management level immediately.

@curiouser What are the pros and cons of BAA and IE? especially for salary and hours in work
