Kim gets emotional talking about family

MANILA, Philippines – Actress Kim Chiu became emotional when she talked about how much she values her family on “The Buzz” on Sunday.


It is not a secret that Chiu and her siblings did not grow up with their parents but with their grandmother.

In a live interview, Chiu said she never really questioned why her parents were not there for her. She said she believes there is a reason for everything that happens.

“Siguro sandali nagtanong lang ako kung bakit ganito. Pero ito ang buhay mo eh, ito ang destiny mo. Parang tinuturuan ka kung paano tumayo sa sarili mo and to stay strong,” she said.

Chiu said growing up without her parents somehow affected her "in a good way" because if not for it, she would not have dreamed of joining show business to give her family a good life.

“Kung nasaan ako ngayon kasi nangarap ako and nagtiwala ako sa sarili ko... Siguro kung hindi dahil sa kanila, normal student, siguro ngayon nag-aaral pa ako, simpleng buhay. Dahil kasi sa mga kapatid ko kaya ako nangarap ng malaki, mataas para magkamagandang life,” she said.

And now that Chiu turned 22, she said she is hoping that more projects and blessings may come her way.

Movie projects

Meanwhile, the actress shared that she feels honored to be working with acclaimed actress Vilma Santos.

Santos and Chiu are currently working on Star Cinema's "The Healing," which will be released this year.

“Ang sarap ng feeling na idol ng lahat, Star For All Seasons, ang tagal-tagal ng artista but still nandito pa rin siya umaarte at tinuturuan niya kami,” she said.

Chiu said she really looks up to Santos.

“Parang sa buhay, idol ko siya. Alam niya kung paano i-divide ang political life niya, family life and pagiging artista. Ang ganda. Nakaka-star struck talaga kapag kaeksena mo,” she said.

Aside from the movie with Santos, Chiu said she will also be working with ex-boyfriend Gerald Anderson in a movie as part of Star Magic’s 20th anniversary.

Chiu said she is also doing a movie with current love team partner, Xian Lim.
