ABC Family's BUNHEADS: Dance, Love and Life (From the creator of Gilmore Girls)

    From ABC Family's press release:

"Set to premiere on Monday, June 11th at 9:00pm ET/PT,“Bunheads” is the tale of a Las Vegas showgirl who impulsively marries a man, moves to his sleepy coastal town, and takes an uneasy role at her new mother-in-law’s dance school.

Executive-produced by Amy Sherman-Palladino (“Gilmore Girls”) and headlined by Tony Award®-winning actor Sutton Foster, “Bunheads” also stars Kaitlyn Jenkins, Julia Goldani Telles, Bailey Buntain and Emma Dumont. Kelly Bishop (“Gilmore Girls”) guest stars as Fanny Flowers."

    Here's the show's series trailer:

Should we expect fast-talking and perky dialogues between characters ala-Gilmore Girls?

Looking forward to this one! :d

Just saw the series premiere and I loved it! It does have that Gilmore Girls feel, especially since Kelly Bishop is there (and that actress who plays Gypsy in GG). I love the chemistry between Sutton Foster and Kelly.

I was saddened by how the first episode ended ... hopefully, it's not what we all think it is.

I didn't follow Gilmore Girls so the comparisons didn't affect me, but I checked it out because of the plot. It was alright. I felt at times that it was trying hard to be funny, but at times, it was genuinely funny. I'll watch a few more episodes before I decide if I'll really follow this.

I love the trailer! Downloading the pilot ep now

    Finally saw the pilot!
I like Sutton Foster, she can definitely deliver the signature ASP dialogue perfectly like Lauren Graham did! Kelly Bishop is great as expected!

The town feels like Stars Hollow although it looks a little boring compared to SH but it was just the start.

The young girls though didn't interest me at all. The show needs a strong young cast to last since it's on ABC Family, the home of Pretty Little Liars and Secret Life of American Teenager, and while the show is strong the leads are older-skewing.

Anyway, the end took a turn I didn't expect and quite not sure if I like the twist. So melodramatic

But definitely I'm on board! Hope to see more Gilmore Girls alumni guest on the show

    Some quick thoughts:

    - I keep on seeing Lorelai in Michelle Simms.
    - I predict a Jesse Mariano character coming to Paradise and be the love interest of one OR all of the girls... a snobbish, rugged, young man who's in denial of becoming a ballet dancer
    - I hope that the Gilmore girls get to do a cameo here (as their characters). That would be awesome.
    - And the issue about Amy not including a colored cast member... now I realized, was there ever a Black in Gilmore Girls / the whole Stars Hallow? (I don't think Michel Gerard counts, since he is French noh?)

Yup, GG has a pretty diverse cast in different shapes and sizes, although i never noticed if there was a major black character in the show, but it shouldn't matter if the GG cast was already as varied as it was. On the racial front, we have Lane and Mrs. Kim, Michel, Paris (Jewish, before I thought she was French), and Latinos (Vanessa Marano comes to mind although I don't she played a Latina in the show, can't remember basta anak siya ni Luke )

After the second episode, I realized this isn't for me.

After watching 2 episodes. I wasn't interested on the story.

Maybe add more appealing characters? HAHAH
I won't add this to my weekly list.

Already seen 5 episodes and while I'm not really interested with the stories of the young girls, I'm already on board just because of Sutton Foster and Kelly Bishop. They crack me up! Sutton is great with delivering her witty lines! I'm not familiar with broadway and all but I can see why she is a Tony winning actress!

I don't know if this show will be renewed (ratings are low for ABC Family), but I'm in it until it last.

I'm still waiting for something more interesting to happen. The premiere episode caught my attention but I was a bit worried because a snoozefest is about to happen after seeing 5 episodes.

Loving the chemistry between Michelle and Fanny. I want to see more performances. If mag-decide na si Michelle to teach, maybe dun lang mag-start ang dance drama...hopefully.

^ slow kasi ang build up dun sa eventual na pagtuturo ni Michelle sa school but everytime she performs kahit dream sequence pa, it lights up the episode. The stories of the young girls are boring though, mas interested lang ako when Michelle and Fanny talk to each other

    Agreed!

Those girls are boring. After seeing last week's episode, I'm not sure if manonood pa ako. I intend to drop na talaga this show.

Though sayang baka may mamiss ako na mga performances from Michelle. Yun na nga lang hinihintay ko eh. I thought the series would focus on dancing and the struggles of being a bunhead pero ilang episodes na wala paring progress especially sa story of those boring young girls.
