    Showcase/Syfy's Lost Girl

I've always been a fan of sci-fi shows and I have been recently introduced to the Lost Girl fandom but I was surprised that no thread has been created here yet about the show so I made one.

Basically, it's a Canadian supernatural crime drama centered on the life of a succubus (a female seductive demon) named Bo, as she learns more about her origins and abilities, puts her supernatural abilities to good use, meets new people/creatures, and discovers some amazing supernatural stuff as time goes on.

It premiered on Showcase, a Canadian channel, in September of 2010, but just aired in the US last January.

Here's a picture of the main cast:

And a trailer for the show by Syfy:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d5SPMS2v_gY

There are already 2 seasons so far and it's now on a hiatus. It has already been renewed for a third season, of which the filming has already started just this April 11. For those who are new to the show, now's a good time to catch up on it. Ingat lang kasi baka mahook kayo just like me.

By the way, just like other fandoms, ships have already been established on the show. As for the main character Bo, there are now two main ships with her: Team Lauren and Team Dyson. Which ship are you on? Also, all Lost Girl fans are welcome here. Sana maraming may alam about this show.

    hi, blue dagger!

i'm mielle! been checking this website kung me thread ng
Lost Girl for some time, then lo and behold! biglang meron!

anyway, been watching the show since last year, legally
    sa net ( hehehe).

the show has a lot international fans, so i've heard. i guess
kasama tayo dun. love the show, love the cast (especially
Anna & Zoie), which only proves, i'm Team Lauren, all the
way (so are majority of the fans anywhere in the world)!

wow, palagay back to PEXing na naman ako, my old
    username ata expired na (hehehe)

    MIELLE OUT! (for now)

Howdy! I've been watching Lost Girl on Syfy as it comes right after Being Human. I'm hooked, although that's not saying much since I always get hooked when it's a sci fi show I was able to start.

Syfy aired Season 1's finale last week. I'm happy they went straight to Season 2, whose first episode aired last night. Now that Being Human won't be back until January, I'm happy I still have Lost Girl.

Me too! I started following the show recently and I thought of checking out if there's already a thread here. But search results showed none so I've finally decided to create one for Lost Girl fans like us. As for me, I just watch from the Internet but I know the gist of both seasons already even though I'm actually not done with season 2 yet.

The show has, indeed, surprisingly gained a lot of fans from all over the world. I also love the cast, including Anna and Zoie. I've actually watched videos and interviews of all the cast and their previous projects, and basically did some research on them. And I must say that Zoie Palmer is one of the funniest in the cast! I love her good dry sense of humor! Right now, I'm also for Team Lauren (or as others say, Team Doccubus) but I don't really mind if Bo ends up with Dyson in the end. I'm totally for Team Bo and I ship her with happiness! (cheesy me, hah!) Besides, she's a succubus, so it's hard to tell who she'll end up with, or even if she'll end up with someone in the end. All I can say is that I'm amazed at her abilities. I wish I had a power like that!

It's the same for me. In fact, the dedicated and geeky fangirl in me comes out whenever I find sci-fi shows that are interesting enough for me. And for me, the show may have its weaknesses but I still find more than enough reasons for me to watch it. I only watch the episodes on the Internet but I was glad too that Syfy picked up the show. Now, more people could see it!

hi again, blue dagger! and hi, too, ubermensch!

are you both in the states? at least, you'll get to watch on
your Flat Screen TVs. unlike some of us elsewhere, (i'm
here in Dubai) we can only enjoy it on our 15" laptops!

i doubt if the Season 1 DVD, which i heard is already available
from Amazon, will be availble locally in the Philippines.
considering the theme of the show (some might be shocked
of the not really gratuitous sex scenes and sometimes crude
convos, but still, as you said bluedagger, it may have it flaws,
and yet it still clicked for me. i dunno, maybe i'm a sucker too
for sci-fi stuff (X-Files & Star Trek, to name a few). this one
got me glued, because unlike the other TV shows i just
mentioned, this one has a modern-day edge to it. not to
serious not to mediocre either. just the right amount to
entice and titillate us the viewing public.

so, both of you haven't watched the entire season 2 then?
well, bluedagger, if you're still on Team Anyone, i think
you'll be cheering with us from Team Lauren as season 2
continues (just a friendly assumption, hehehe).

anyway, enjoy the coming episodes, and i bet you, you
two will be fangirling with it more (especially with Bo,
Kenzi (God! she's a wisecrack) and of course Dr. Lauren
(Hotpants) Lewis! okay, we have to mention the others,
too (Hale, Trick & emo wolf Dyson).

k, chickas! will PEXed with you later. in the meantime,
got to continue working, or else my boss will fry my ***
if she discovered me stealing time to chat with you.

go Team Lost Girl! and of course Team Doccubus FTW!

MIELLE OUT (will be in later, if i find a time to sneak from
my boss, hehehe, i hate my job sometimes)

Haha, nope. I'm in the Philippines right now. I just watch the show using the Internet too. I just don't know if Amazon already ships here but I may check it out some time. I think there's a lot of ways naman to have a copy of all the seasons eh, legal or not.

I can't speak for all the other people who tried watching the show. As for me, I'm a very open-minded person so I have no issues or whatever regarding how the convos or intimate scenes are done on the show. I actually find them to be sensual, tasteful, and sexual but not overly gratuitous and gross. I also don't mind that they are exploring the bisexual and lesbian themes on the show. I don't have anything against those themes and I actually find the show refreshing and unique partly because of those reasons. Overall, I must say that the show is very brave and progressive in addressing the issue of sexuality respectfully and realistically on the show.

Yes, I'm still trying to find some time to finish season 2 soon. Like I've said, I'm partial or leaning towards Team Doccubus/Lauren right now but unlike other Doccubus fans, I totally have nothing against Dyson. I'm not saying you do but I just don't want to get my hopes up and I'll be pretty much okay still if Bo ever ends up with Dyson in the end. Although I must say that for a doccubus, ending up with anyone in the long run is a pretty daunting or hard thing since it's not in the nature of a doccubus to be sexually exclusive. Pero ang cute lang ni Dr. Hotpants. I'm a sucker for the doctor and nerdy type so that's not saying much I guess.

I really like the cast too. Kenzi is the life of the show most of the time since she usually gets the best and funniest lines but I like all the others too. Hale, Vex, Trick, hell even the Morrigan LOL! I like all of them because of their unique characteristics and individual development as parts of the show. All of them make the show more interesting for me and give the show a very interesting dynamic. That's partly why I got hooked on the show.

oh, sorry about that ubermensch, at least both of us are
Team Lost Girl! so you're fanboy-ing (is there even a word?)
hehehe btw, you haven't answered bluedagger's querry,
are you Team Dyson or Team Lauren?

you're right bluedagger, like you, i have no issues on
sexuality, we're on the 22nd century, for heaven's sake,
we have to live it as it is!

the show is unique in it's own way. what draw me to
the show is it's fearless, devil-may-care approach on
sexuality issues. the showrunners simply doesn't care
if the audience will buy it or be irked by it, as long as
they are telling a story of an uber-humanoid succubus,
whose life turned upside down as soon as she discovered
that she is Fae. (Bo, we really do envy you for having
    that power!)

geeky and doctor-y types are a big plus for me, too. i mean,
come on, who wouldn't be attracted to Dr. Hotpants
(maybe Dyson)? Bo fell for her charms. we as television
spectators are definitely enchanted, too! sorry, i think
i'm fangirling now. sheesh! i was lurking on other Lost Girl
websites, and boy they revere Zoie Palmer like she's a
manna from heaven! make that goddess from Fae heaven
    (on Bo's perspective)! can't blame them, she's a charmer and super-HOT, too!

so what episode of season 2 are you now? are you
reading dorothy snarker's afterellen screencaps of Lost
Girl? if you're not, i suggest you read some, beside being
hilarious, her episode reviews can help a newbie Lost Girl
fanatic to be able to grasp the gist of the show. funny writer,
    i tell you.

as of now they already started filming season 3, episode 1.
spoilertv post the press release from showcase on what to
expect this coming season. it says there that our little
Bo-Bo will be making a committed choice, romantically.
of course, we Team Doccubus knew that it has to be Lauren,
right? but of course, not everything is sun-shiny so to
speak, relationships are not healthy if there are no drama
and angst to be encountered, they have to stretch the
storyline of the love angle/triangle to tease us fans. that's
okay for me, as long as no butchering of characters from
Lost Girl writers, fair for me.

Gosh! it will be a long wait for us before they premier
episode 1, season 3 in September!

got to read those fanfics then to cope with this waiting
    game!

happy Fae day to both of you!

As a fanboy, I'm not really focused on either Team Dyson or Team Lauren, hahaha. I'll say however I commend them for pushing the envelope with having Bo hookup with Lauren, for even making it possible.

As with any work of fantasy or science fiction (Lost Girl, Being Human, Grimm, Once Upon A Time, Merlin, V, all of the Star Treks), I'm interested in the mythology/universe they live in, and how they develop it. As for the sex, I don't see it as gratuitous. We have "worse", which I don't mind in, say, True Blood or Spartacus. After all, Bo is a succubus. We expect her to feed on people's sexual energy, not on people praying the rosary. :P

I agree. The whole romance or love dilemma going on the show is just part of what makes the show interesting. A lot of other things also make the show more captivating, like the mythology, as you've said. I'm also very curious and intrigued to know more about the Fae universe and the creatures in it. Which reminds me of the episodes with Filipinos in it and the Aswang one! Yes, there really are a lot more gratuitous and exposed sex scenes in American television so I really find Lost Girl's tasteful still. LOL, gotta love your last sentence. It's funny but it's definitely right!

Yes, the Lost Girl fandom is filled with fangirls and fanboys alike. I also enjoy the brave take of the show regarding sexuality, since some people find issues regarding sexuality to be very delicate or sensitive topics. It also helps that the show isn't preachy in terms of its storylines. It also makes use of the sexual plots and scenes decently and integrates them into the overall storyline smoothly, and does not make them look so forced.

In terms of the love aspect, I think Dr. Hotpants and Dyson are partly opposites. Dyson has this rough and strong front, while Lauren seems to be the more caring and compassionate one. Both of them bring out certain good qualities in Bo and help her in her quests. But I've noticed that when Bo is with Lauren, she becomes softer, gentler, and more sensitive as an individual. When Bo is with Dyson, most of the time, I feel tension and angst. It's hard to explain but I hope you get what I mean.

Yes, they already started filming season 3 this April 11. But I haven't really got the chance to read spoilers and other info regarding season 3 yet so I didn't really know about what you said. Thanks for that one. And yes, I know of Dorothy Snarker and AfterEllen since I already came across their sites before, but in terms of other fandoms. Most of the time, I also like their reviews and what they have to say about the shows they review. I'm still on season 2 episode 16 but I'm gonna try finishing the season soon. And yes, I'm also looking forward to the upcoming season and its storylines. I just hope that they don't screw up the quality of the writing and the character developments.

  11. #11
hi Faenatics! so episode 2.16 ha, bluedagger? hi ubermensch!that's one of my favorite episodes of season 2. Dr. Hotpants' screentime made up for the angst of the episode. those photoshoot scenes with her recently un-cursed comatose GF, we Team Lauren are literally glued to the screen, not blinking at all. in case we miss something, did Lauren smirked or did she frowned, you know, watching if there are some indications that she's getting conflicted with her present lovelife. and she is! poor Nadia, she maybe feeling insecure with her present standing in her GF's life. well, the
character was written to rattle the Doccubus fanbase anyway, and the writers succeeded in this regard, sadly.

it's one episode, too, that we get to see the team dynamic of the
show. almost everybody contributed in the resolvance of the case. all seems to be in character, except for that annoying Dark Faeder Ryan (Kenzi really hit that one right to the mark). sorry, i don't find him attractive at all. he's like trying too hard to be likable and charming. fell flat for me. he doesn't convinced me to be your typical Playboy, (drop dead gorgeous with to-die-for lifestyle). really sorry mate, it's good Bo blew you off. i hope he won't re-appear in season 3. the fandom will be literally pissed to high heavens!

what's worst is he got even more screentime than Zoie Palmer!
why? is he a well-known TV actor in Canada? i really didn't see
his relevance to the storyline at all. it would be better if the
weapon he gave Bo is really significant in fighting that fire-
feathered menace the Garuda. it would have been acceptable
for us fans, at least he contributed something for the coming
Fae annihilation. anyway, enough of him now. he's gone, and
    gone for good!

i guess, you two are a bit way long to the season 2 finale.
just enjoy the ride, and the entertainment value it echoes to
us dissiminating televiewers. one thing i assure you, the finale
of season 2 will answer some questions that's been nagging
inside our minds for quite a while now.

    it's a nice send-off to the in-coming season 3. where every
Faenatics in any part of this world are squeeling on their top of
their lungs as we speak! me included!

roll on season 3, showcase! let the Doccubus/Dybo fun begin!

MIELLE IN (and out, 'coz it's close to midnight here in Dubai,
will PEXed with you two tomorrow? parang 3 lang
tayo sa thread, the show may still be not that
    popular dyan sa Pinas, sad)

Well, I was on season 2, episode 16. But I couldn't help myself so I did a marathon. And guess what? I'm finally finished with season 2. I think if the viewers/fans of the show really looked closely, it was actually obvious that Lauren was falling in love with Bo and was getting confused or conflicted since she already has Nadia. I also agreed with Nadia when she said that it must have been hard to wait for 5 years and stay by someone's side without knowing if she'll get cured and without having someone's touch, caress, blah blah. Nadia even acknowledged that she herself didn't even know if she could have handled something like that. Personally, I don't even know if I could also do what Lauren did all those years and wait that long. And so I give Dr. Lauren credit for being able to do just that.

I also felt bad for Nadia, even though I'm a Doccubus fan. She still didn't deserve everything that has happened to her. The Garuda was evil and terrifying that way, since he can possess people and manipulate them against each other. I also didn't mind having Nadia on the show since she was actually significant and made an impact on the show and its characters. I also feel the same with Ciara.

I also think that episode 16 was one of the most important and game-changing episodes of season 2. A lot happened in the episode and I was also glad to see their team dynamic develop. As for Ryan Lambert, he actually reminded me of Dr. Mark Sloan (played by Eric Dane) of Grey's Anatomy. I think they closely resemble each other. And I also find him quite attractive, although he also got on my nerves and became annoying at times, but I guess that's just part of him being a Loki (god of mischief and trickery). I think he also played a part on the show, but was not as significant as the other characters. In Faented Love, one of the most boring and slowest-paced episodes in season 2, Bo learned about her royal and mystical blood and realized that she can use it to her advantage, but not before she almost got married to Ryan. And that realization helped her device a plan against the Garuda in the season finale.

Anyway, I forgot where I got this info from but I read somewhere that season 3 will be about Bo searching for her father or something like that. I just don't know if it's actually true. Also, I'm curious about what happened to Kenzi. If you can remember, when she retrieved Dyson's love back from the Norn, an accident happened involving a spilled bottle with unknown contents. And in the season finale, she walked out with something on her arm, that one arm that came in contact with the contents of the bottle from before. I'm curious as to what happened to her and how it may affect her character in season 3.

Also, in the season finale, Bo put on her mother's red jacket and looked into the mirror. It's not directly told but it was implied that she's starting to shift towards the dark side, just like her mother, when she smiled menacingly into the mirror. And lastly, I'm also intrigued as to what Dr. Lauren will do now that the Garuda and the Ash are dead, because as Dyson said, it will be a little while before they can select a new Ash, so that is a good chance for her to go and be free. Will she go or not? Especially since she has already become closer to the other characters, even Dyson, and more so, Bo.

These are just some of the questions I have in mind for season 3 and I'm really looking forward to how they will address these. Too bad sa September pa sila babalik. Ang tagal pa haha!

  13. #13
aha! so finish mo na season 2, ha? congrats!
me too, curious din ako on what's going to happen to Kenzi
now. there are some spoilers on other websites that she'll
be doing a dual-role daw this coming season. maybe a
Bad Kenzi vs. a Good Kenzi, that will be a nice storyline
to explore. Ksenia can definitely pull it off, no problem there.
sana the episodes for that will not be cheesy or something or else
we will cringed if it's written in a bad way.

sana they also have like a backstory for Bo, Lauren and
Kerzi. Dyson has already his on episode 2.05 ba yun,
so i think it's the girls turn now. for sure the fans will
be elated if the showrunners will do that. kaso mo it's
still unclear if they're going to get a 13 episodes or 22
this season. no spoilers for that, unfortunately. but
    i prefer a longer season (22 episodes), i don't mind if
there are fillers as long as it's essential to the plotlines.
for me as long as there are BL scenes kahit na medyo
    boring episode, sold for me!

season 2 kasi was riddled with unnecessary fillers, which
really frustrates and irritates some of us fans. siguro kasi
late na silang nasabihan that the series will be extended
for 22 eoisodes kaya the writers scrambled to make ends
    meet.

anyway, at least there are episodes that really made us
happy and cranky at the same time. i like that in a show,
as long as i'm entertained and loving what i see on screen,
    carry on!

you're right Nadia's death was one of the worst written
episodes in the series. it was rushed, maybe the fanbase
are goin' nuts because she's doccblocking B/L's moments
together. at first, i was so pissed at her on the first scene
of episode 2.16. she's acting really clingy and whatnot to
Lauren. what i love on that scene is Bo's reaction! boy,
she's really acting mega-jealous there! hehehe as if she
wanted to pull Nadia's hair from her scalp and burn it to a
big platter! hahaha luv jealous Bo! so much sexual frustration
and tension at the same time. luv it!

yes, i heard this coming season will be darker than the other
two. i'm looking forward to that, too. darker Bo will be more
interesting as a character, again sana the writers will improve
consistency of this series. there are so much to explore regarding
this storyline. since they already assigned a showrunner for
Lost Girl, i hope she deliver. kasi from what i heard sa other
website, this lady is not that popular to the fandom. lalo na sa
mga Doccubus fans. some fans claimed that she's leaning on
the BD from first season pa. and she's been pushing the two
characters to be the OTP of the series. siguro yun nga talaga
plotline nung series, e kaso mo iba ang naging response ng
mga viewers. they had no idea that the BL ship will be that
popular. they miscalculated the audience reactions. sana
nga she can give us a better season this September.

is that her mom"s jacket? sabi ng iba, hindi raw. anyway,
she looked great with it! as of the question if Lauren will
run for freedom, since they already released on spoilertv
on what to expect on season 3, i think she will not. how can
she? she loved Bo, so running is out of the question. sorry
to disappoint Dyson and his fans, that won't happen this
season and the other season that will come. hehehe

am i too optimistic for our Doccubus? you bet you're one
peso i am! if the writers again, ruin the storyline, they will
never hear the end of it! the fandom will haunt them and
sabbotage their careers! fans are that crazy sometimes.
hehehe don't worry, i won't join them. hahaha

okay, so what else you want us to PEXed about our favorite
Succubus? do let me know, as of now i'm here at home.
we don't work here in Dubai during Fridays. kaya medyo
tutok ako ngayon sa lappy ko. pero siyempre i have to
rest my eyes, too. baka later on e super slits na lang
siya at totally di ko na mabuksan. that will be a total
catastrophe for my boss! she will not survive a day
without me on her side! hehehe

MIELLE IN (as IN talaga for today!)

    btw, where's our fanboy ubermensch?
    hi there, dude!

  14. #14
If they'll ever create a dual-personality storyline or something like that for Kenzi, I think Ksenia can definitely pull it off.

They can probably go with a darker, more twisted season 3, but I hope they don't make it too dark all of a sudden because it's nice to also have some lighthearted moments on the show. I also don't mind having some cheesy stuff going on in the show but I hope they don't make the storylines too cheesy, angsty or anything in excess. A good blend or mix of those would be the right thing to do.

I also want them to explore the backstories of the main characters but it would be better if they also don't forget about exploring the team dynamic, character developments, and mythology in the show. Also, in my opinion, season 2 wasn't really as strong as the first one but that happens to a lot of shows naman eh. Maybe it's because hindi nga nila inexpect na ieextend to 22 episodes yung season 2 unlike season 1 which had 13 episodes. I don't mind having filler episodes from time to time, pero yung season 2 nga medyo hindi naging maganda yung pagincorporate ng fillers so there were episodes that got quite boring.

I'm not sure if that was really her mom's jacket but it looked like it to me. In previous episodes kasi there were scenes that panned to her mom's jacket and I felt that something was implied by those scenes. Pero obvious naman with her menacing smile at the end of the finale that her darker side was getting stronger eh. It also didn't help that she gave the concoction or potion to Trick when she was losing control, instead of drinking it herself. Ang bait lang talaga and selfless ni Bo. She'll do everything that she can for her friends and for what she believes in. But it's an interesting thing to ponder on kasi what would happen in that case, if she herself would be the one putting her friends' lives in danger because of her dark side.

As for season 3, medyo nagbasa-basa na rin ako ng spoilers or info about it and there were some Lost Girl fans claiming that some of the crew have been very vocal about their satisfaction regarding the opening sequence of season 3. So baka nga there's gonna be a lot of surprises and awesome things in store for Lost Girl fans this coming September. Now that I think about it, siguro hindi ko muna dapat tinapos agad yung season 2 LOL! Tagal pa kasi ng season 3 and now that I'm already done with season 2, mas mahihirapan na akong ifill ang Lost Girl anticipation ko.

All I know is that I'm really excited about the story arcs they'll be having for each of the characters now that the Garuda has been defeated.

  15. #15
oo nga, a lot of tweets are coming from those working on the sets!
they're as excited like us, can't contain the anticipation, maybe?

selfless Bo, was one of her stronger straits. a Fae with a very
human qualities, that's a win, right?

sadly, she has to battle this darkness inside of her. or her
loved ones will be on unfortunate path of this incoming dark
power she has to wield, Fae or human, be damned.

what i want to see for her to fully exposed that dark power
into good use. maybe unite the Dark and Light, no more
distinction. and that would be a scene that will surely be
remembered by the fans in years to come!

hope we can pull the months now, and make it to September
na! sheesh! sometimes i hate being impatient! lalo na
when it concerns my fave shows. it's a bit frustrating really!

are you on fanfics, too? daming Lost Girl fan fictions sa
fanfiction.net, if your interested. some of the stories there
are ridiculous pero entertaining na rin, others are full of
angst, na parang feeling mo soap opera, hahaha!

i wish i can write like them! grabe imaginations ng ibang
writers dun. feeling ko they themselves were transported
to the place of what they wrote, such an imagination, indeed!

i also want to them not go too dark on the theme, okay lang
na minsan e me light moments. it will be a super kilig for us
Doccubus fans if those light moments involved B/L.
definitely, ratings for that episode will go to the roof! can't
    wait!

so what's your fave episode so far? and what's the one you
    regretted watching? hehehe

MIELLE IN (ubermensch, hasn't logged in yet, busy fanboy-ing
    maybe, haha!)

  16. #16
Yes, I know of fanfics and fanfiction.net. I actually read from there and I write fanfics too whenever I get inspired and when I have a lot of spare time. But I haven't really written or read about any Lost Girl fanfics yet. I actually read fanfics only when I don't like certain things that are actually happening on a show or when I think there can be better storylines instead of the ones happening on a show.

So far, okay pa naman sa akin ang Lost Girl and hindi pa naman nila nabutcher yung character developments and storylines entirely in my opinion so I refuse to read any fanfics muna. Baka kasi maiba yung perceptions ko on a character and madistort yung memory ko about the things that actually happened or are canon on the show. I also don't want to get my hopes and expectations up since some fanfic writers are capable of writing stories that are so good they can even excel or be compared to what is actually happening on a show.

Ang fave episode ko is the one wherein they all switched or swapped bodies. Ang galing and convincing ng cast umarte. Their impressions of the other characters are so good. Also, Kenzi in Dyson's body was exceedingly funny! My least favorite one was Faented Love, the one where Bo almost got married to Ryan, since I found it to be the most boring filler episode. I don't really regret watching any episode since I'm a big fan of the show and since I'm the type of person who gets a hard time quitting every show that I have been attached to or have invested in.

  17. #17
you write fanfics, too? why am i surprised? i can see on how
you write your post here, wow! why not write a Lost Girl
fanfic then? you can base your plot on the storyline of the
two seasons, if you don't want to be distorted of your perceptions
on the show. a lot of stories out there are basing their's on
what they've watched from the show. in fact a little more
dramatic than the actual show itself, can you believe it?

parang ngang mas magaling pa sumulat ng plots ang mga
fanfics writers compared sa current Lost Girls scribes. hehehe

ha, Original Sin, that's episode 2.09 i think, that one was
written by Emily Andras, the new showrunner for season 3.
the one i was talking about to be pro-BD. but lately, she
satisfied us Doccubus fans kasi she also wrote that fun
and riot episode 2.21 (Into the Dark).

yeah, that epi was really fun to watch. i was hoping sana
that Trick was switched, too. or was he? cannot remember. anyway, cute ang epi na yun, OOC sila lahat, yay!

as of Faented Love, you're right, it's the boringest epi
this season, wheew! what a filler! it's shouldn't have
been done in the first place. ano kaya iniisip ng mga
writers when they conceptualized that epi? na writer's
block ba sila or something, hehehe

what i regretted to watched was episode 2.12 (Masks).
that's wherein Nadia woke up from her pod and
totally screwed the hopes of all Doccubus fans across
the globe! me included! my jaw dropped the moment
she and Lauren was kissing in front of Bo, (of course
without their knowledge), but damned! it really hit
us to the heart. i bet almost all Doccubus fans were
    shouting everywhere in unison "NO!"

but of course, she has to be eliminated, remove
from the equation so to speak. besides a three-way
relationship, even if it involves human-human-fae
will not be a sell-out for the fans. the show's fate
will rest on those fans' reactions. i echo the others
opinion that it was the most ill-conceived plotline
of the show. if they want Lauren to have a decent
back story, why not give her storyline that will surely
resonates to us viewers, her history before how she
became the Chief Medical Officer of the Light Fae,
her family, he college/residency days. is Bo the only
Fae she was attracted to? you know, something that
will flesh-out the mystery of one Dr. Lauren Lewis.

sana they explore this this coming season. one back
story every episode for one character, but of course,
it should be related to the story of certain episode,
para naman connected pa rin. hay! it's really up to
those *****es (writers) on how to explore them. they
are being paid to give us a story, so they better do
    their jobs right.

before i was reading Twilight related fanfics, recently
i lost interest. siguro maybe because RPatzz and KStew
are really dating na. it's like everything a fan wish to
happen e nangyari na. you know, the "WHAT IF?" question
was all of a sudden e nasagot na. but still i'm Twilight fan.
there's my 'teen-age' persona for you, hehehe

since we're on a roll, who's your fave character? and the
one who annoys you a bit? don't ask me, for sure it's
obvious to you now, that i'm a Lauren fan.

so spill, friend! who would you like to have a convo with?
and who do you want to push in a cliff? hehehe

MIELLE (you can answer these queries tomorrow, i believe
it's already 2 am there in Pinas, you have lots of
time to contemplate and share to me your thoughts)

  18. #18
Yes, I also wrote fanfics although they're really not much. In fact, I haven't actually been able to write one for quite some time now. I still don't know if I'll be doing a Lost Girl fanfic soon. But who knows, I might do one eventually LOL!

I don't actually think the Lost Girl writers are so bad at their job. There a lot of shows out there that have worse writing. I just hope that this show's writers don't lose inspiration and start screwing up the storylines and characters. I also know that in order to make a show work, sometimes the network and producer have to listen to what the show's fans have to say. By doing so, they may be able to boost the show's ratings and address the fans' concerns. Although the bad thing is, a lot of shows actually end up falling prey to catering to their fans too much that they lose their show's identity and some of the great original concepts that they have planned for the show. Sometimes, they end up listening to their fans too much that they eventually lose their writing chops or creativity and just take the fans' ideas. I hope that wouldn't be the case with Lost Girl.

Yes, my favorite episode was indeed Original Skin. But no, as far as I remember, Trick was the only one who didn't drink the beer so he didn't get involved in the whole switched bodies debacle. Faented Love as an episode didn't really contribute much to the progression of the overall story, but it did serve as an opportunity for the writers to make Bo realize about her mystical blood. But still, it didn't make up for the boredom that episode 18 is.

As for episode 2.12 (Masks), it was an okay episode for me and I do not regret watching it. Although it did break my heart during the scene when Bo walked in unnoticed and saw Lauren and her girlfriend kissing. But of course, that had to happen to add more drama to the show. Besides, who wouldn't kiss and cuddle with their partner, who has been in a coma for five years and has just woken up from a deep slumber? Although I must say that they could've given Lauren a better story arc in season 2, such as a backstory on her pre-Fae slavery life, as you've mentioned, it wasn't really hard for me to put up with how they handled her arc that season. And I'll be very much okay with them addressing Lauren's pre-Fae slavery life story this coming season. After all, it's better late than never, right?

They still have a lot to address and explore further this coming season: the mythology of it all, the whole Fae universe, the backstories, the romance, and the many questions that the fans have been dying to answer all this time. That is why I'm so looking forward to how they will address all these in season 3. I hope that they can still provide us with quality writing and show consistency soon.

And my favorite character? Hmm, that is such a hard question for me to answer since I almost equally like all of them. In my opinion, they all have their quirks which then make them individually unique and interesting. But if I really had to choose one, I'd say Kenzi. She never fails to make me laugh even in the most serious of moments. She most usually gets the best and funniest lines on the show! Right now kasi, it's easier for me to like Dyson and Lauren when they are paired with Bo eh. So I hope they don't just use those characters in season 3 for purely romantic purposes and just kick them off to the side as potential romance or competitors for Bo's affections. I hope they don't relegate their purposes on the show and have them play more significant roles in the overall make-up of the show. Like they can change things up a bit para naman hindi palaging nasa house or lab lang si Lauren. They can give her character a chance to participate in cases and go on field missions too. As for Dyson, pwede nilang bawasan yung angsty moments niya and give him more interesting and quirky plotlines. I also look forward to how they will use Vex and the Morrigan this season.

My least favorite character? Tough question pa rin for me haha! Wait, I'll go for the Norn even though she's not a main character. Ewan ko ba but her laugh and smirk annoys me a bit. Haha!

  19. #19
the Norn, ha! yeah, good choice. hahaha! she's a creep!
Kenzi's right to chainsaw her lifeline of a tree, hahaha!
i was even shouting "TIMBER!" with her when she was
ready to take down the Norn's precious bark! hate to
say this, but we might see her again on season 3. di
pa siya tsugi, di ba! hahaha

good choice again on Kenzi, she's my 3rd favorite.
of course on top is Lauren, 2nd is Bo-bo. and we can
make Hale 4th, 'coz i dig his power. fans are right he
definitely has the coolest power on the show! Trick,
is okay, too. but i see him as a generic character in
a sci-fi show like Lost Girl. you know, the one who
is all-knowing and kinda ancient and all. as of my
least fave, isn't it obvs, the "wolves mate for life"
all brooding, emo-ish wolf Dyson. i hope no Dybo
fans are lurking this thread, for you know, they may
'hate me.' anyway, who else? how about characters
i luv to hate? well, that's easy, the Morrigan and
Vex always comes to mind. i mean, they fiited their
roles to a 'T." especially Vex, with Brit accent and dicky
moves make you really want to slap the bejesus out of him.
what an effing *******! he's a bit Kenzi's 'male counterpart',
minus the dicky moves, of course. hehehe

Kenzi's quirps are more in the now, sometimes i wonder,
would a real person think and say that fast an honest opinion
with sarcasm but still emerge as likable and cute at the same
time? siguro kung totoong tao siya, a lot of people will be queing in line to ber her BFF! those one-liners of hers are a big draw to the show. Kenzi will not be Kenzi without those! hehehe sana di
    maubusan mga writers ng Kenzisms.

you're right, it the producers want this show to be remembered
from years to come, they should really focus on the story arc of
the show. as you said, the Fae mythology need to be explored
more. i mean, inumpisahan na nila e di tapusin nila ng maayos,
    right? right!

season 1 was solid compared to season 2, why? because despite being 13 episodes only, all the epis are packed with plotlines and the writing is superbly consistent. the first half of the second
season is good, the other half mediocre. bumawi na lang sila
dun sa three last epis. but still okay pa rin, this is their sophomore
year, kaya understandable. hopefully this coming 3rd season e
ma-correct na nila lahat ng ma loopholes to the storyline.
scrap all the potential plot devices (like Nadia, Nate, Ryan),
i didn't include Ciara here, kasi i think if they did not killed her
off, she can be a cool character on the show. plus of course,
she has more chemistry with Dyson than Bo. sadly, again
missed chances of a better storyline.

as of my fave epi, i like the one where Bo was all SUPERSUCCUBUS.
i think that's episode 2.08. that's were we first saw her
hidden and totally dark power. there are lots of B/L moments
there, too. very pleasing to the eyes! both of them look
gorgeous in every scene. and of course, that epic kiss in the
end, ahh! so much unresolve sexual tension. hehehe and
2.06 pa pala! luv that epi, too!

and the least favorite? of course Masks and that boring but
as your opinion essential epi, Faented Love.

sa season 1, of course Vexed! that really sets the real tone
of the show. all the necessary ingredients of a good sci-fi
show was showcased in that episode. in fact it was the episode
the producers shown to showcase for approval or something.
parang yata yun yung pilot epi, kasi yun din ata ang shinooting
nila nung una. and it was written by the show's creator,
    Michelle Lovretta.

and my least fave one in season 1, hhmmm, ahh, i think
episode 12 (Dis)Members only. that's wherein Bo acted all
too "teen-age girly" and Dyson acting like a territorial jerk.
hate that episode. in my opinion the writers unwittingly assassinated Bo's character there. she's supposed to be
the main lead of the show, not the main *******! they
literally reduced her to a typical girl-next door type
who is pinning madly on a neighbor crush. if you check
other websites, fans reactions to this epi is unanimous,
THEY DETESTED IT! it's good they make up for it in the
finale (1.13 Bloodlines), buti na lang. hahaha

there's a new character that they will introduce this 3rd
season, have you heard of her? Tamsin or Tasmin something
ata character name niya. hope they'll use her as Dyson's
potential squeeze, i want him to stay away from B/L as
far as he can if we want Doccubus to develop and be in a
committed relationship. the producers' promised to play
up the triangle more is fine with me, as long as it will be
balanced and acceptable for us fans. sa totoo lang, they
should end this triangle issue once and for all. i mean
this show doesn't cater to teeny-boppers audience anyway,
(hence the Twilight and Team this comparison), they should give B/L a chance to further explore and develop their relationship.
what's the use of their endless polls in their website if they
gonna ignore the soo obvious wishes of the viewers.

i'm optimistic that they're on that path now this coming
season. keeping my fingers crossed! i for one doesn't
want to be screwed again, just give us Doccubus fans
what we want already, GIVE B/L A CHANCE ON A
RELATIONSHIP! we guarantee you, powers in suits,
ratings will be off the roof! locally there in Canada and
    definitely internationally, promise!

on a side note, where's ubermensch? he hasn't logged
    in since yesterday.

so to keep this convo going, what is your 'dream' episode
this coming season 3? besides Bo-Bo going all 'dark-y'
with incandescent blue eyes mesmerizing or shall we say
seducing us to be 'in the dark' with her or sucking our
Chi till we die with a happy look in our faces (oh sorry,
that's mine hehehe), let me know. we can be imaginative
in this thread even if it's just a two-way opinion/ideas
    tossing as of now.

MIELLE IN (if ever there are silent fans lurking on this thread, please i beg you (beg daw, oh), join us para naman mas happy kami nila bluedagger and ubermensch)

  20. #20
I don't know about other people but I'd love to have a friend like Kenzi. She's the type of person who is fun-loving and outgoing, and I'd so love to be in her company. Her sister-like relationship with Bo also looks interesting and refreshing. Since the time they met, they quickly formed a strong and loyal bond to each other, which is a very rare and priceless thing to have in real life.

And you're right. Episode 8: Vexed was the first episode they shot and was the one they used in their first promos. I also remember the cast saying in a panel discussion that they shot the first season (or even both seasons but I'm not sure) simultaneously and in an unorganized manner kaya they had a harder and more confusing time shooting and acting.

I also think Hale has one of the coolest powers on the show. Although the head security officer of the Light Fae (I forgot her name) who has power over fire was cool too IMO. I also hated some of the characters at times when they acted too mushy and lovey-dovey, as if they were going through some teenage hormone phase.

I'm also tired of the whole love triangle or love [insert polygon here]. It's a concept that has been over-utilized and run to the ground by most writers, mainly to cater to teenage fans who love drama, angst and romance mixed up all the time.

And yes, I know about the new character Tamsin, but her purpose on the show is still not confirmed. Also, I don't know if you already know this but here are some of the spoilers I've read on the Internet. I just don't know if they're completely reliable.

Also, I think that even if season 3 might start off with Bo engaging or trying to engage in a committed and monogamous relationship, staying in that kind of relationship would be hard to pull off considering that Bo is a succubus. Even if Bo and Lauren start the season off being together, I'm sure there would still be a lot of obstacles along the way, especially since Lauren is human. The same would also go for Dyson and Bo if ever. As for my dream episode, I haven't really thought of one yet. I'm just wishing for the best this coming season and I just hope to get pleasantly surprised.
