Example nalang eh yung movie na racially discriminating daw: Act of Valor. IMHO, hindi naman siya racist. Inaccurate lang.

As I was browsing my mail may nakita akong link na nakalagay dun eh racial remarks from Guam naman.

Pero after reading the article it stunned me na fair lang naman ang sinabi nung abugado sa Attorney General's Office from the standpoint of a senior executive.

So balat sibuyas nga ba tayong mga Filipino?

Yep we can be too sensitive when it comes too issue of race but it's not just limited to Filipinos, everyone in the world can react that way. But what's funny is kapag a Filipino gets portrayed in a way our media doesn't approve, they cry racism pero in every platform pinagtatawanan natin kung paano magsalita yung mga Chinese, na mababaho raw ang mga Arabo, na maarte yung mga Caucasian, na abusado yung mga Middle Eastern, etc. It's hypocritical lol

Exactly! Don't forget the "ipamimigay kita sa indian" threat, and derogatory slurs against the chinese/fil-chinese. Kung racial discrimination ang pag-uusapan, how about the recent plan of the NCAA to bar foreign players from competing, isn't that racism/racial discrimination?

^well... the fil-chi community has terms for Filipinos too. Punta kalang sa fil-chi thread sa singles they call filipinos cha huan (Filipino squatter), huan na (Filipino in general), at minsan huan na po (Filipino maid or boy). sympre iba ibang terms yan at depende yan sa context ng pinaguusapan.

The mere fact they say it in Chinese... especially in PEx threads goes to show that they dont want non-chinese speaking PExers reacting to their posts.

    Pikon kamo!

    Taga-Mindanao- Warfreak, dibibi, terrorista
Aeta o kahit maitim lang- Baluga eggoy
    Taga aklan- Aswang
    Bikolano- Manyak malib0g
    The list goes on.

You have ABS-CBN with their "angat ang pinoy sa buong mundo" propaganda to thank for that.

It all goes to show how immature Juan Dela Cruz is. Sabi nga kaya hindi tayo nagiging first world, kasi third world tayo magisip.

    THIS!

Filipinos can complain when it's about them ... like in that Desperate Housewives issue. Yet they are willing to bring out a movie year after year in the MMFF mocking the Filipino Chinese community.

As Filipino Chinese myself I always questioned how come my parents and relatives use such a derogatory term. And I just realized it's not intentional but already subconscious. I remember when I had Chinese Lessons ... and I was taught that "Huan Na Po" means Maid. Take note ... they did not mentioned Filipino Maid but Maid.

Putting two and two together I realized that its a term passed from generations among generations and it's become an acceptable terminology. Sad really, but then again the traditional Filipino Chinese community are probably the most blatant racist group out there.

Ika nga nila, choose your battle wisely.

Siguro dahil nanibago sa internet kaya hala nakikipagaway all day long.

I'm Fil-Chi myself but I questioned the practice from the moment I understood what the term means. My relatives told me this: "Kung tawag saatin ay intsik at tsekwa then dapat may tawag din tayo sa kanila."

Funny thing is even my Filipino classmates used the term in the same way pure Chinese and Fil-Chi use it without realizing they are degrading themselves.

Still, to say the term "huan na" and then say the rest in Filipino or English (ei: "Yung mga huan na (Filipino) ay hindi talaga pwede humalo saatin kasi kakaiba ang mga ugali nila.") is EXTREMELY racist to the point na kahit namana mo lang yan sa mga lolo mo ay alam mong racist comment yun.

Tapos may discrimination pa yan between "pure" and "halo". Katawa lang kasi yung mga "pure" saamin ay mukhang malalagpasan ng mga "halo" in terms of wealth and achievement.

Its stereotyping not racist.

To make matters worse may racial profiling pa sa US at ibang bansan.

I dont think this is a matter of economic development.
