Summer talk with Matteo Guidicelli

If there is one thing we noticed when we met Matteo Guidicelli in Boracay last month, it is that he got tanned—dark even—but that despite this, he is still as cute and cherubic as always. He may be enjoying a lot of free time right now, but his schedule will soon be jam-packed once again, thanks to a new show on ABS-CBN called Isla. While all you Matteo fans impatiently wait for that, here is the cutie professing his love for sports, explaining why he loves Boracay so much, and enumerating some girls he wants to be stuck on an island with.

Have you ever played volleyball?

Yeah, in high school, in Brent. I didn’t really play it to compete.

Are you a beach person or a pool person?

I love the beach. We just came from Hawaii for the Star Magic show, it was so nice. I wanna live there kasi beach talaga. Lalakad ka lang, sando, tsinelas, shorts. Ang sarap. I just came from Bantayan also. I love the beach!


When was the last time you were in Boracay?

Valentine’s. My first time was my senior trip in college, 2008. This is my third or fourth. I love it. But it’s getting so congested already. But it’s still nice. Super nice. The sand, it’s like polvoron.

Are you still racing?

No more. I stopped 5 or 6 years ago. I’m doing triathlon now so I’m aiming for that. I did three triathlons already. You sound like you really like sports. I love sports. I started off doing soccer and then racing. I guess I was brought up being competitive, being sports minded so hinahanap talaga ng katawan ko.

Where did you get this love for sports?

My dad. He loves being active all the time. He pushes me all the time.

Is your girlfriend Maja also into sports?

I bring her to the gym all the time, to running. The problem is she doesn’t wanna get dark so she has to run 4:30 pm onwards, or in the morning, or in the gym.

Do you like iced tea?

When I was in high school, I’d drink iced tea everyday. Diba that’s your thing in high school, sa cafeteria. And at home also. I like the Nestea lemon flavor. It’s refreshing, especially with ice. I like the lemon.

What’s keeping you busy now?

My workload’s not that heavy. It’s gonna start [getting busier] next month. We have a new show coming up but now my schedule is maluwag. Been training every day and every morning with my routines. But next week we’ll start with the new show. It’s called Isla, about two people stranded on an island. Jessy Mendiola.

Who else do you want to be stranded on an island with?

A lot! Sino ba? Jessica Alba, Megan Fox, and a girl named Maja Salvador!

Jessy Mendiola preparing for sexy TV series



MANILA, Philippines – After playing the lead role in defunct sexy soap “Sabel,” Jessy Mendiola said she is preparing for steamy scenes in a new show under the “Precious Hearts Romances” series.

In an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com after signing for a two-film contract under Star Cinema on Thursday, Mendiola said she has been attending workshops with her new leading man, Matteo Guidicelli.

“Well sabi ko naman, it comes with age. I think naman na magtu-twenty na ako, I think it’s time naman to try something new at hindi naman ibig sabihin na kapag PHR ay sobrang daring na, it’s about romance. So ayun, gusto lang i-try na mag-PHR naman. Kasi ‘yung ‘Sabel’ na-try ko na medyo pa-sexy din, it’s an awakening for a woman. Sa ‘Budoy’ very sweet ako, so ngayon medyo gusto kong magpa-bonggang wow! Kaya pala,” she said.

“Pinaghahandaan talaga niya (Guidicelli) ‘yan mabuti, kasi ang tan na niya ngayon at ang payat na niya. Kasi ang role niya dapat ganoon ang itsura niya. Masaya naman kasi hindi ko pa nakaka-work si Matteo. I think it’s refreshing na ibang leading man naman ang katrabaho ko,” she added.

Aside from preparing for her newest series, Mendiola is also busy finishing the film “The Reunion” under Star Cinema.

“Sana po panoorin niyo ang ‘The Reunion’ malapit na po. Abangan niyo kung ano ang role ko, sobrang magugulat kayo doon,” she said.

Far from her sexy image onscreen, Jessy Mendiola revealed that she is very boyish in real life. This, she admitted, landed her the role of a tomboy in the upcoming Star Cinema barkada flick The Reunion. “Mahilig akong mag-boxing and sa sports so dun sa audition for the movie, siguro nakita nila yung boyish side ko. Kasi nung auditions nagmamadali ako ako nun kasi may trade launch din nun so pumunta ako ng auditions ng walang makeup tapos naka-jeans and polo shirt lang ako. So nagulat sila kasi parang how refreshing kasi usually pag auditions lahat nakaayos, naka-makeup, naka-dress, and heels. So siguro nakita nila yung side ko na very laidback and casual. Since bata pa ako mahilig na akong magsuot ng jeans, shirt. I’m that type of girl na naka-shirt at jeans lang. Very boyish,” she said.

Jessy said she really enjoyed her role in her first ever movie project. “Yung role ko kasi medyo boyish dito. Si Enchong (Dee) naman nerd tapos best friends kami since childhood so I think it depends on the role and sa binabagayan. Role lang naman ito pero hindi naman siguro ako boyish na boyish na tomboy talaga, ano lang characteristics ko lang minsan very sporty, ganun. Masaya yung filming, hindi naman siya sobrang heavy drama. Masaya lang ako na sa first movie role ko boyish ako. I’ve always dream of doing a boyish role since I’ve started showbiz,” she told Push.com.ph.

The 19-year-old actress is also set to do a TV series with Matteo Guidicelli within the next few months. “Pinaghahandaan ko talaga yan. Mabuti kasi si Matteo ang tanned na niya ngayon tapos ang payat na niya kasi yung role niya kailangan ganun ang itsura niya. Masaya naman kasi hindi ko pa nakaka-work si Matteo. I think it’s very refreshing na ibang leading man naman ang makatrabaho ko. I’ve never worked with Matteo before. I’ve just met him a few times. Hi, hello, ganun lang. Nag-asaran kami, andiyan si Maja, ganun. Pero I’ve never worked with him in a project. Kaya nga sa workshop nagkaka-ilangan kami eh. Pero nung two-day workshop namin, parang nagiging friends kami, nagkakamustahan, ganyan so napaka-casual lang,” she shared.

Jessy said she is not worried that Matteo’s girlfriend Maja Salvador will have any issues with her because of the show. “Si Maj nakakasama ko siya sa out-of-town. Tapos before I’ve worked with her na rin nung nag-sa-start pa lang ako sa showbiz. So ngayon parang kinakausap niya ako na binibigyan niya ako ng advice na kapag teleserye ganyan, kasi we all know naman that Maja is a very good actress and I look up to her as a very versatile actress and I want to be like that, yung parang iba iba yung nagagawa mo. Yung lahat nagagawa mo, kaya ka nga artista, kaya ka nga actress eh, lahat nagagawa mo,” she admitted.

Although she has toned done her sexy image from Sabel by doing a more wholesome role in Budoy, Jessy said her fans can expect her newest TV role to be a bit more daring. “Well sabi ko naman it comes with age. I think naman now na mag-twe-twenty na ako, I think it’s time naman to try something new and hindi naman ibig sabihin na Precious Hearts Romance, it’s sobrang daring na. It’s about romance. So parang gusto ko naman i-try na mag-PHR naman kasi di ba yung Sabel na-try ko na, medyo pa-sexy din yun. It’s an awakening for a woman tapos ang Budoy naman very pa-sweet ako dun so ngayon gusto ko naman ng bonggang wow kaya pala niya yun na reaction,” she said.
