Maghahain ng diplomatic protest ang Pilipinas laban sa China matapos mahuling ilegal na nangingisda ang walong Chinese vessels sa West Philippine Sea.

Ayon kay Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario, nakausap na niya si Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Ma Keqing at kaniyang iginiit na sakop ng teritoryo ng Pilipinas ang Scarborough Shoal.

"I made it clear that Scarborough Shoal is an integral part of the Philippines and is well within the country's 200 nautical miles Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and Continental Shelf."

Pero kinontra ito ng China at iginiit na pag-aari nila ang bahagi ng Scarborough kaya dapat umalis ang pwersa ng Pilipinas doon at tigilan na ang ilegal na mga aktibidad.

Sinabi naman ni Del Rosario na malinaw na naaktuhan ang mga Chinese na ilegal na nangingisda sa teritoryo ng Pilipinas at natuklasang naglalaman ng corals, giant clams at mga buhay na pating ang walong Chinese fishing vessel.

Maliwanag aniyang isinasaad sa international law na sakop ng Pilipinas ang Scarborough Shoal kaya nakahanda ang Philippine Navy na ipagtanggol ang karapatan ng bansa dito.

"Under international law, we have sovereignty and sovereign rights over Scarborough Shoal. Finally, I mentioned that the Philippines is prepared to secure our sovereignty."

Sa ngayon, napaliwanagan na aniya si Pangulong Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III sa sitwasyon at nais nito nang isang mapayapa at diplomatikong solusyon sa problema.

Siniguro naman ni Philippine Navy Chief Vice Admiral Alexander Pama na patuloy na nakaantabay ang BRP Gregorio del Pilar para siguruhing nababantayan ang teritoryo ng Pilipinas.

Sa ngayon, nananatili pa ring naggigirian ang BRP Gregorio del Pilar at ang dalawang Chinese maritime surveillance ship sa Scarborough Shoal matapos nitong pigilan ang pag-aresto sa mga mangingisdang Chinese.

Ayon naman kay Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Commandant Edmund Tan, magde-deploy sila ng mga vessel para patuloy na ma-monitor ang sitwasyon sa Scarborough Shoal.

Umaasa naman si Del Rosario na patuloy na makikipag-ugnayan ang Chinese Embassy para maayos ang gusot.

China tells Philippine warship in Scarborough Shoal to 'leave Chinese territory'

MANILA, Philippines - China on Wednesday accused a Philippine warship of illegally entering Chinese waters and ordered it to immediately leave the area, escalating a territorial dispute in the South China Sea.

The Chinese embassy in Manila released a statement reasserting the country's sovereign rights to the South China Sea, including the disputed area that is much closer to Philippine landmass.

The statement "urged the Philippine side to stop immediately their illegal activities and leave this area".

The Philippine government had earlier Wednesday said two Chinese surveillance vessels were blocking efforts by its biggest warship to arrest Chinese fishermen on eight boats caught fishing illegally in its waters.

The government said the standoff was occurring at Scarborough Shoal, 124 nautical miles from the western coast of the country's main island of Luzon.

China insists it has sovereign rights to all of the South China Sea, even waters close to the coast of other countries and hundreds of kilometers from its own landmass.

The Philippines says it has sovereign rights over areas of the sea within its 200-nautical-mile exclusive economic zone, and that its position is supported by international law.

China calls the shoal Huangyan Island, and the Chinese embassy statement insisted the area belonged solely to China.

"The Chinese Embassy hereby reiterates that Huangyan Island is an integral part of the Chinese territory and the waters around it is the traditional fishing area for the Chinese fishermen," the statement said.

"Ever since the ancient times, numerous documents on the Chinese history have put down definitely in writing that Huangyan Island belongs to Chinese territory."

this is a wake up call to the philippine goverment and to the people that it is the time to upgrade all our military capabilities, so that a situation like this we can defend our country and show them that we will fight for our right and protect our territory..

Depends on the depth of the waters there. Submariners always prefer waters deeper than their sub's maximum depth capability in order to be assured of sufficient room below their keels. Mukhang hindi malalim ang tubig dun sa Spratly's- in pictures and news videos it's always light green. Anybody here know the average depth in the disputed areas?

Can't we send out our Coast Guard ships? I mean our coast guard has better ships than our navy. Dapat may resbak na agad ang BRP Goryo! At least with the CG moving in to arrest the illegal fishermen, domestic/police action ito. Then if the Chinese meddle, we are in our right to arrest them too. Back up na lang si Goryo. I mean, cmon! We should be able to arrest these thieves in our own territory!!
