Kayo ako po ang nadatnan niyo that time.
Ingat po kayo and Be well We love you!
Tschuess!
Hehe.
Copán Ruins, Honduras
Mesoamerica has one of the most intriguing and colorful civilizations in the world. Having traveled extensively in Central America (Honduras, Guatemala, Nicaragua, etc.) and México, I've always marveled at the historic sanctuaries of the Mayans, Aztecs, Zapotecs, Toltecs, etc., the stepped pyramids and temples in Tikal, Teotihuacán, etc., the complexities of their religion and, yes, even any uncontroversial phenomenon in their agricultural practices, cultural anthropology and languages.
The erection of stelae in Copán in Honduras, for example, is one telling attestation to Mesomaerica's cultural, religious and historic gumption:

Where is Copán, Honduras located?
I hope may mag-post ng pictures and stories nila about Ecuador (Quito and Ingapirca in particular). It's one of those destinations that I dream of visiting someday.
Welcome to the A Pinoy in the Americas thread, gs09!
Hintay ka lang sa Ecuador. Susuyurin natin lahat 'yan. Hehe.
Irazú Volcano National Park, Cartago, Costa Rica
Dissolved minerals, volcanic ashes and some odd plants drift around and down the mouth of the largest active volcano in Costa Rica.
I had started to venture up, close and personal with Irazú (Indian word for thunder and earthquake mountain) during my first months in Costa Rica. An active stratovolcano, Irazú is 3,432 meters above sea level, with a greenish-yellow lake in its main crater. The color of the water is caused by the dissolved minerals and, every now and then, changes to a red-orange hue.
Taken in 2008, the picture below not only witnesses the volcano during its tranquil sleep, but as well as its arresting beauty, and the heavens above:

Nice write-up! 'Proud Chicagoan here. I've been calling Chicago my 2nd home for 4 yrs already. I'm glad that you enjoyed your trip.
I agree. Art is huge in Chicago. We also take pride in the magnificent architecture surrounding our city. The American Gothic is one of my favorite paintings displayed in the Art Institute (which happens to be my favorite place in the City). The sculpture near the Tribune Tower has already been replaced. In its place now stands a sculpture of Marilyn Monroe, created by the same artist. I think it's going to be there until September of this year.
