The current Green Archers line-up is all and well but Parks is simply too good for collegiate basketball. Dapat hindi na pinasok masyado si Teng knowing na wala siya masyadong magagawa against NU, just like how Ravena wasn't of much use during the NU v Ateneo match. Tallo would have been the better choice with his assists.

I am also satisfied with how the Green Archers played in the game.. Considering na gumanda na ang mga perimeter shooting nila compared in the past seasons. if I am not mistaken, first 10 points ata ng DLSU lahat perimeter.. kitang kita rin ang improvement ni Norbert Torres. I hope AVO had also improved well. ganda rin ng depensa nila.. ayon nga lang magaling talaga si Rayray. Alolino is also playing well sa NU. Hopefully mas gumanda pa ang laro ng Green Archers sa UAAP..

Ateneo's point deficit was so high because they failed to contain Parks. The team continued to play offensive during their match with NU only to realize that relying on Slaughter alone is not enough to hold off Parks.

It's great that both Ateneo and La Salle was given the opportunity to face NU. Both matches not only emphasized once again that Parks and Mbe are one cut above everyone else, it also exposed each team's weaknesses.

I think double teaming Parks is the only solution to stop him.

i watched the game live, and all i can say is WOW GOD DAMN FUCKING BOBBY RAY PARKS. jed manguera did a good job on him, and to some extent, yutien andrada. but he destroyed other archer defenders.

jeron teng was hesitant all-game long. did he take any shot/s at all?

the archers got zoned up and it killed their offense. they have one month to solve that problem.

i'm still intrigued with some coaching decisions from coach gee earlier:

    1. why he put jovet mendoza on bobby ray parks
    2. why he put both almond vosotros and LA revilla on the court at the same time, when we could have been bigger.
    3. why he could not adjust to the zone -- but this could be attributed to the putrid outside shooting of la salle.

all in all, i was satisfied with this game win or lose. bobby ray parks is just a bad, bad muthafucka.

bobby ray can pass out of a double team well; it's a risky gamble. dapat sa kanya asawahin and put a wingman na kaya syang asarin.

The problem with double teaming parks the entire game is that you're leaving other spots open. Parks isn't the only player in NU that can deliver, as shown by the game this afternoon. The bulldogs CAN shoot crazy threes.

The only way to beat Parks, is to beat Parks by improving the defense capabilities of your bigmen to the point that only one will be needed to contain him.

Teng seems to have been overwhelmed by NU. Nakita ulit ang pagka-rookie niya, probably because hindi pa siya sanay maglaro with bigmen. He still haven't played against Slaughter and having Parks and Mbe was simply too intimidating.

Tallo is vital to the team because of his assists. Hindi naman mapapasok ni Teng si Parks at Mbe on defense so they would have to rely on their big men inside.

Expect both blue and green teams to have training programs focused on defense.

It's funny how NU, once the laughing stock of the UAAP, has now become the Gold standard of collegiate basketball.

Congrats NU for getting the Filoil crown! :-) The game was close enough not until the 2nd half where Bobby Ray Parks showed his presence. The Archers had the right thing in mind putting some good defense all over him, specially Jed Manguera, pero napagod narin sila,eh. BRP is just too much. Ginagawang asintahan ang mga bantay niya.

and not just Parks actually! Alolino, Neypes, Villamor, Javillonar, all of them have the shooting touch. A really strong team come UAAP. Watch out for NU.

Anyway, congrats still for DLSU for reaching the finals again for the first time since...2008?? in the UAAP though.. Kitang-kita ang improvement ng team. Developing a big man in Norbert Torres, pati ang pasahan anganda narin. Sa shooting talagang may nagbago, mga perimeter shots pumapasok na, although they still have to work on that lalo na sa 3pt territory. They were silenced yesterday by those unanswered 3-pt shots by NU.

Agree. Jeron missed 2 easy shots in the final quarter and he also turned the ball over twice in that same quarter. NU got away with baskets on all those possessions Teng blew.

But yes, too bad, Jeron wasn't there when we needed him the most. Ni hindi siya nag-aattempt kahapon.

Jeron finished with only 4 points.

give Teng a break. Baka naman na stress lang yesterday he's a rookie sa college basketball and yet finals na agad baka di pa sanay na maraming nanood.

The 2012 Filoil Flying V Preseason Hanes Cup: Championship Day Notes, Scores and Photos

    Notes:
    - Reggie Morido finished with a double-double and Raph Atangan scpred 18 points as the NU Bullpups clinched 3rd place in the Juniors Division of the 2012 Filioli Flying V Preseason Hanes Cup. The Bullpups shot better from the field, had more rebounds, assists, and blocks as they rebounded from their semifinals defeat at the hands of San Beda. Morido was the star of the show here, scoring 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds as NU finished on the podium at the expense of the only non-UAAP/NCAA team in the field, Xavier. The Golden Stallions accounted well for themselves, drawing another fine performance from their dynamic duo of Kyles Lao and Jarrell Radley Lim. Lao and Lim scored 24 and 12 points respectively to finish as the only Xavier players in double-figures. Gian Go anchored them on defense with 13 rebounds and 1 block to go along with 6 markers. NU now looks forward to defending the UAAP Juniors crown it won last year at the expense of the FEU-FERN Baby Tamaraws. On the other hand, Xavier hopes to bounce back in its chief tournament, the Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball League. After lording it over the field in recent memory, the Stallions failed to enter Finals earlier this year.
    - San Beda had to rely on a strong fourth quarter to thwart the championship dreams of Rey Nambatac and the Letran Squires. Trailing most of the way, the Red Cubs outscored their rivals from Intramuros, 28-17, in the payoff period to steal the 2012 Filoil Juniors crown. The Red & White were led by their platoon of RP-Youth players, namely Arvin Tolentino, Ranbill Tongco, Rev Diputado, and Josh Caracut. That fearsome foursome finished with a combined 59 points to steal the game from Letran, which was led by the combined 45-point output of Nambatac and big man Bong Quinto. The Squires actually shot better than the Cubs in this game, but some costly lapses in the final frame enabled San Beda to roar back and eventually pull the rug from under the Letranistas. The Bedans made up for their anemic 38% FG shooting by outrebounding Letran, 45-42, and forcing the Squires to commit 18 turnovers, which they converted to 18 points-off-turnovers. San Beda now focuses its preparations on retaining the NCAA Juniors title it won last year even as Letran goes back to the drawing board to find a way to get back at their traditional rivals.
    - The Ateneo Blue Eagles rebounded from two back-to-back defeats (against DLSU and NU respectively) to finish third in the Seniors Division of the 2012 Filoil Flying V Preseason Hanes Cup. Once again, coach Norman Black and the Katipunan quintet turned to big man Greg Slaughter, who finished with 24 points and 11 rebounds in leading Ateneo past the San Beda Red Lions. No other Blue Eagle got more than 10 points, with Justin Chua chipping in 8 points and Juami Tiongson and Kiefer Ravena each netting 7 markers. The Ateneans, however, defended really well, limiting the Bedans to just 34% FG shooting, and outrebounding them, 42-35. Jake Pascual, Ola Adeogun, and Baser Amer scored 15, 12, and 10 points respectively to lead the Red & White’s losing effort. Ateneo will now wind up its preparations in going for a rare fifth UAAP title in a row. Meanwhile, the Lions will go into the new NCAA season as favorites to win their sixth title in the last seven years.
    - Ray Parks and the NU Bulldogs sent a powerful message to the rest of the local college basketball scene, winning the 2012 Filoil Seniors and ending the summer with an immaculate 11-0 card. Ray Parks was, once again, the hero of the day. The tournament MVP scattered 19 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 2 assists, and stole the ball twice to lead NU over the gritty and much-improved Green Archers. Emmanuel Mbe, adjudged the Defensive Player of the Tournament, also did well, finishing with 13 points, 15 boards, and 2 rejections, while Gelo Alolino stepped up with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. NU found the going tough early on, as La Salle piled on the pressure and tried to slow down the pace of the game. Parks, however, refused to let his team down, making big play after big play to help the Henry Sy-backed squad get the upperhand for good late in the fourth. The Bulldogs converted on 6 three-point tries, compared to just 3 for DLSU, while also outrebounding the Archers, 47-41. LA Revilla and Norbert Torres led the Geen & White with 14 and 13 markers respectively. Both teams are looking forward to a UAAP season that might finally see them returning to the Final Four. NU’s last time trip to the UAAP postseason was way back in 2001, while the Archers hope to make a comeback after failing to make it last year.

he was very well defended by NU. maganda yung pagka-trap kay Jeron kaya hindi siya nakaporma.

the only way for Jeron to go around such kind of defense is for him to develop his shooting skills. pareho sila ni Oda ng problema, at pagkakaroon ng shooting ang isa sa mga solusyon for them to outsmart their defenders.

Jeron will most likely play small forward. His position with Xavier will be much different in the UAAP where the competition is even more fierce.

Wow such "expert" advice, I bet di alam nang mga coaches yan! You must be a great basketball coach. "ONLY way" pa talaga ha.
