Julie Anne San Jose Thinks She Is A Good Role Model For The Youth by Jamie Ortega (May 21, 2012)





The stars are definitely shining on Julie Ann San Jose. The internet musical sensation has certainly gone a long way since her days as a young Popstar Kid finalist. Legions of people tune in to Party Pilipinas every week just to watch and get giddy over her duets with constant ka-love team Elmo Magalona.

As a matter of fact, Julie’s onscreen pairing with Elmo has become so big their love team “JuliElmo” was named "The Most Promising Love Team" at the last Guillermo Awards.

With all the success that she is experiencing, it would only be fitting to give back the best way she knows how: by throwing a thanksgiving concert! Tons of Julie and Julielmo fans trooped to Hard Rock Café last May 16, 2012 to listen to the young chanteuse perform in the flesh. The event also served as Julie’s debut, since the singer will be turning 18 the very next day.

Inside Pinoy Showbiz caught up with the pretty young singer after her very successful show. Read on as Julie talks about turning 18, her new movie with Elmo, and why she thinks she is a good role model for the youth.

So many people showed up to watch your concert! How do you feel about that?

Grabe, ang saya, hindi ko ine-expect na ganun kadami ang mga tao, so grabe, it’s a flattering and overwhelming feeling na ang daming taong pumunta para sumporta sa akin. Sobra akong kinabahan nung una syempre, kung maraming pupunta, pero sabi ko kay Lord, sya na po ang bahala sa akin. I am going to use this voice to perform in front of many people.



Are you ready for a bigger venue?

Hopfully, sana Araneta. Sana!

What are your birthday wishes?

Una sa lahat, maging masaya ako. Sobrang saya ko ngayon. Good health, more opportunities to come, na maging maganda ang career ko, makatapos ng pag-aaral, I wish I could make more friends, closer family ties po.

Are you studying now?

I stopped for a semester, second semester. Hindi naman kaya ang schedule pero second year na ako sa Angelicum College, Communication Arts.

Can you update us on your movie with Elmo, Just One Summer? When will it air and tell me about your character.

July or August ang showing kasi ang dami naming commitments ngayon. Mahirap po ako, probinsyana po ako, honest sya sa family nya, sa feelings nya, ayun. Si Elmo salbahe sya doon pero as time goes by ako ang magbabago sa kanya. Kasama ko rin sina Joel Torre, Buboy Garovillo, and Gloria Romero.

You have a lot of young fans; do you think you are a good role model?

I would like to believe so. As much as possible, I try to be friendly and approachable. I tryy to set a good example as always.

What motivates you to work hard?

Actually, music is really my passion. Bata pa lang ako kumakanta talaga ako eh. Kumbaga eto yung parang pinaka-hilig ko so gusto ko ma-share ang blessings ni Lord, mga binigay sa akin ni Lord. Gusto ko i-share para mas lalong ma-inspire ang tao, at ipagpatuloy ang pangarap ko sa buhay.
