Why do I have a feeling na parang may na-resolve between Julie Anne and Elmo? Wala lang. I'm hypothesizing that they must've really sat down with each other (together with other GMA Channel/GMA Films stakeholders including their respective managers) about the recent revelation that Julie Anne had "accidentally" spilled through pep.ph. It's not in her character to lie, so, therefore, fans of the JuliElmo tandem really got affected when she squealed on the then-rumored-and-now-confirmed romance between her screen partner and Lauren Young. I don't think she meant to discredit Elmo--again, it's not in her character to do that--but I feel inclined to agree with John Lapus's tweet regarding this issue. And I quote, "Di na din nakatiis 'yung bata" (referring to Julie Anne). In doing that, she not only got that chip off her shoulder, she also, in the process, "liberated" Elmo and Lauren--especially Lauren--from feeling "threatened" about their real-life romance because of Julie's presence in Elmo's life. As per usual, Julie Anne "finished well."
I did a little investigation myself and this is what I found (this, btw, is the product of post-graduation limbo). Days and weeks leading to Julie Anne's "accidental revelation" on Elmo's personal life, Julie and Elmo had been "extra" sweet and demonstrative to each other, both online and even during their actual PP prods--who can forget the intertwining hands, the hug, the tweet exchanges, the closeness on the stairs/couch at the #JOS set, etc. just a few weeks ago--such that people who cared about their tandem (including the Magalonas at that--Ms. Pia, Maxene, and Saab all tweeted something about their #MovingCloser which was, at that time, rather very uncharacteristic of the Magalonas, too) were even hinting about their supposed budding romance off-cam. Needless to say, every adik went crazy about these "developments"--albeit not without a fair warning from Ms. A who was able to read between the tweet lines and figured that the exchanges must've been marketing-related. Many adiks didn't heed this warning from Ms. Annabella (and even lambasted her) and just when adiks were gonna raise their wine glasses to a toast celebrating the "return of the freeman" from being bewitched by his offscreen lover, a photo of him and Lauren again surfaces on the net--breaking every fan's heart in the process. People kept quiet because they supposedly knew how to handle such bv-ness... but the ultimate basag-trip came when Julie herself confirmed the real score. In hindsight, however, everyone must be reminded that both Julie Anne and Elmo have always said that the real score between them is zilch. Nada. Nil... Well, except for that rare interview earlier in his showbiz career in which Elmo said he had a crush on Rhian, someone else (I forget), and Julie Anne San Jose. I honestly believe that he did have a crush on her when they were just starting out; hence, the JuliElmo magic at Red Mask and Wazak. I daresay that Julie and Elmo may have really and sincerely had feelings for each other back then but, like what I've always said in the past, Julie has always been focused on her career. She understands how hard it is to get to the top, let alone be in the biz in the first place, and this is why she's always known her priorities.
So, the long and short of this all...
While the news that Elmo already has a girlfriend (I bet, Elmo and Lauren will probably lay-low on public appearances... or not) is obviously bad publicity for the movie, it still is, after all, publicity. And bad publicity, as showbiz pundits put it, is still good publicity. Ha ha ha, what is publicity?! There's a lot of publicity in this paragraph! Ha ha ha! Moving on...
In the wake of Julie's confirmation, some fans of the tandem have found themselves feeling either of the following states:
a. denial
b. shock
c. anger/betrayal of trust/outrage
d. will still watch #JOS at least twice with at least 8 non-@MyJaps/@SuperElmo followers to make sure #JOS will surpass the P100M++ mark in the box office
e. have come to terms with and accepted JuliElmo despite everything
f. hoping against hope that it'll still be JuliElmo for real in the end
g. all of the above
However which way you feel, the important thing is this: you still feel something... for like a scorned lover, you'd rather feel anger--hatred even--for someone whom you used to passionately love than not feel anything at all... for only then will you know that you still actually care. :-)
So, how do you feel? If you ask me... I'll choose g. all of the above, with emphasis on option d. Who knows... if Julie Anne and Elmo score one blockbuster hit after another, a real-life JuliElmo romance may not be too far-fetched years down the line. :-)
Or else... Julie Anne San Jose will be found by someone in the mold of a Tim Tebow, Kaka, or Jeremy Lin who will pursue her in the same way that Jesus Christ relentlessly pursues His forever bride, the church. :-)
