A Possible Reason Why Philippines is Lagging Behind

I just want to open up this topic to get more insights.

I've read an article: The Philippines Should Take It from the Great Learning

    And it states that:
Most of the Filipinos are bound and chained in the ideologies of social apathy, selfishness and self-centricity. All these negatively affects how our own perceptions and thoughts. And when thoughts are impaired, inappropriate action, as well as inaction, will follow.
I, myself, agree with this, but I want to gather and develop more insights regarding this.

What are your personal opinion regarding why Philippines is lagging behind in terms of economic progress and development?

What is hindering us in achieving what neighboring countries are achieving?

This is also one of the most striking statements of the article for me:
It may be true that Filipinos are indeed family-integrated, but it may not always be true that their families themselves are principle-integrated.
And this one really made me think, that the author has a point.

I want to hear from you guys.

    Thanks for the insight my_2_cents!

However, I personally believe that Philippines itself is not overpopulated. The real problem is that the population is not well disbursed causing them to cluster into one area. And this masks itself as overpopulation.

Also, there are economic studies telling us that population might be a function of economic progress. That as you channel more efforts to increase the GDP of the Philippines, the increase in population will curve downwards.

Hence, the possible problem with One Child Policy is that it may target only the symptoms rather than the ultimate root.

Ahh. I see. However, there are still two schools of though regarding this matter. One is the Economic Condition is a function of Population Growth while the other one is the other way around.

Now, given that this is the case, I would like to ask you regarding your opinion if the RH Bill will help address this.

Yup. You have a point there. However, since you qualified it (i.e. being gutom), the article may pertain to those who are "not gutom". I think what the article suggests is that people who has the means, should open up and help those in need.

Population growth is good but it must be MODERATE.

RH Bill, if properly implemented, can certainly help. But my ONE-CHILD POLICY is better.

maraming dahilan kaya hindi umuunlad ang pilipinas, sa sobrang dami e pointless pagusapan. yung nabanggit nyong mga dahilan ilan lang mga yan, mga on-the-surface types. i can't even begin to imagine how viral this thread would get kung matutukoy lahat ng mga dahilan. lol.

I agree with you that it is really difficult to point out the root cause/s of these problems. But, I think we shouldn't give up in identifying them.

That's why continuous research and debate are poured onto this so that we may come up with brilliant policy recommendations that may mitigate the problems of the Philippines.

An inspirational leader said, "If there's only one ounce of hope left in this world, shall we be that hope?"

^i think instead of focusing on causes (since we both agree there wayy too many for anyone to talk about it, here in pex at least), we ought to look for solutions. but like most things that's easier said than done.

if i were a trigger-happy trillionaire, i'd buy me a high-end sniper rifle capable of accurate shots within 1 mile (preferrably in .50 bmg), then i'd buy a helicoper, assassinate the president, the AFP chief of staff, PNP's chief of staff, a couple random cabinet members, a couple useless senators and a handful of fat representatives in a month's time, then i will proceed with killing bad cops. then i'd threaten everyone working for the government that if they don't change their ways, there will be more killing. this way, fear and respect for the people who elected them will come back, and the philippines would be a better place to live in.

but i'm not trillionaire and despite my love for guns i'm not trigger happy. so yeah. lol. i can only just dream.

    ^Hahahaha!

So, does that mean that you are FOR a RADICAL CHANGE? I mean you prefer great change, rather than gradual change? Or not?

Sa aking pananaw eto ang mga dahilan:
    1. Wala tayong pagkakaisa bilang isang bansa
    2. Weak spirit of nationalism and lack of love to our country

We know these problems for a very long time. We know the solutions already as well but these motivating factors are missing.

That, o sadyang t@nga na talaga tayo. Kung ganyang kultura minamahal natin, magtataka ba kayo na ang presidente natin ngayon sa dami ng problema ng bansa nakukuha pang gumising ng tanghali at mag siesta on a weekday.
