WTF is an "import" in collegiate games!!! Tell your priest this is not the PROS. We only have foreign student athletes. What multinational corporation would sponsor a racist league? I don't see Nilke, Adidas or any multinational corporation throwing their hats in a league which looks at an athletes' race than their skills and talents. Without major sponsors where would this league be. Someone should also tell him that the main guy of the tv station where they plan to transfer to is a Bedan.

Put your money where your mouth is. Let's have the posts.
My contention has always been that there is nothing illegal about recruiting imports. Just don't downplay their role when you win your championships mainly because of them especially if they even become MVPs of the league. If you can't see the difference then I don't want to waste my time discussing anything with you.

    This again!?

WTF? Who are we downplaying here?

season 85 talo SBC with a Sudan Daniel vs Baste

season 87 Champ SBC minus any foreign player sweep pa finals nun so anong issue sa foreign players? SBC can loose and win with and without a foreign player.

nakaka sawa na yang issue na yan, sa nba, us ncaa and even sa uaap at ibang liga dito sa pinas hindi isyu yan, mga taong maski kapwa nila hindi makasundo kaya sila sila nag demandahan at nasa school website pa nila, yun ang mas nakaka hiya kesa sa isyu ng foreign players.

Basketball is a team game, 5on5 Baste won over SBC without a foreign players, JRU failed to win a crown with 2, in the other league, good teams like FEU (2 imports), UST, Adamson, NU, all have tall foreign players yet they all fell victim to ADMU with a midget long as their import.
Agree ako dito. Coach Lim and Gorayeb should be suspended. I have no argument with that.

But the sanction (2-game suspension) on almost the entire Red Lions team is very malicious. They were not directly involved in the brawl.

The fact that MANCOM has a history against San Beda particularly the reps of Letran, CSB, MIT and JRU, hindi maiwasan na magduda because all of these reps have one way or another collaborated in the past:

    1. Yousif Aljamal case (2007)
    2. Jake Pascual case (2008) and
    3. Proposal of banning foreigners in the NCAA (2011).

Plus the uniform. Consistent!

Tambak CSB and Letran. They protested dahil sa uniform after the game. Pero in a battlefield... They won on board but we won honorably and gallantly.

I remember dati sa UP: Maroon squad may have protested pero they didn't even bother doing it. How perfect these creatures na nagsabi nun. Diyos sila!

Again you conveniently overlooked the little details about that uniform violation which you violated more than once. In that CSB vs SBC match, Sam Ekwe used his old uniform because his jersey got stolen. No one from your side bothered to inform MANCOM about the incident and your coaching staff took it upon themselves to suit him up using an old jersey thinking that he can play. I'm sure it is honorable to win but by ignoring existing rules will reflect upon other members that it's okay to violate league rules that your school adhered to from the very beginning that it was enforced will make it dishonorable.

And please don't forget precedents. Your school is not the only one who violated it and I don't think CSB won a trophy over your school on that same year. And blowing it out of proportion by thinking that it was a conspiracy to ruin your quest which was never hindered to begin with. Stick with the issue at hand, because we're on the same page as far as foreign student athletes are concerned.

Oh. And by the way, recruiting foreign players will no longer be allowed starting the 90th NCAA season. So that's 2014.

NCAA set to bar foreign players
By Joey Villar (The Philippine Star)
MANILA, Philippines - Tapping foreign athletes will now be a thing of the past in the NCAA.

This came after the policy board, now chaired by Fr. Tamerlane Lana, OP, of Season 88 host Letran, had approved with finality a proposal disallowing member schools from recruiting and tapping foreign players.

Although approved, the NCAA is still deliberating and discussing when the new ruling will be implemented although sources said there is a plan to put it in practice three years from now, or in Season 90.

“Yes but maybe the non-acceptance of foreign players will be implemented on Season 90,” a source told The STAR yesterday.

The 2014 schedule is being proposed to give member schools a two-year transition period wherein they could form an all-Filipino team.

However, the new ruling, whose implementation will be discussed by the board in its next meeting before Season 88 opens in June, does not cover foreign players who have been recruited before its approval.

I think that by bringing this to the press, it will affect Fr. Lana & the rest of MANCOM in a way that will have them under the microscope of philippine basketball in terms of such a ban enforced. I do think some schools will side heavily on SBC's cause if voting is concerned. A resolution to enforce a "middle-ground" sanction would be the wisest action taken against "mercenary types" disguised as foreign student-athletes. A unified academic assessment test would be pushed as a concession to "qualify" them before they become eligible. But in terms of creating this test, it will be controversial again and lay more groundwork on redefining what a foreign student-athlete should be in and out of the hardcourt.
