working in an auditing firm worth it?

to all those who are working in an auditing firm or who had an experience working there,

is the stress of a very toxic work worth it?

yes it would provide you with quality experience in the accounting world but do the benefits outweigh the cost?

i'm not against working in an auditing firm but i would just like to here comments and suggestions that would encourage me and other readers as well to work in an auditing firm without regrets..

any advice or suggestions po! thanks!

Hello.. Para sakin kaya ako nag-audit firm ay dahil gusto kong makita ang reality ng auditing theory...haha.. by the way Am working in one of the big 5..

Since this is my first busy season, I can say that the work is somehow toxic because everything is different.

Never tried working in an auditing firm.
Right after passing the board, umuwi ako. No regrets naman.
Pero nasa iyo na yan. Maganda ang exposure sa auditing firm. The downside is (based sa mga narinig ko, LOL)
the starting is not that good but in the long term, maganda talaga ang effect ng exposure sa audit. Hindi ka mahihirapan mag abroad.

In my case, I can pursue other venues. LOL.

Just my two cents. It's your choice.

LOL). Masaya yung paiba iba ng kliyente IMO every few weeks/months.

Nung una talaga kaya lang ako nag-apply sa pinagtratrabahuhan ko ngayon kasi gusto kong malaman kung overrated lang or what! Haha!

Good luck to everyone!

1st busy season kasi namin. hehehehe

para sa akin oks ang audit. medyo boring in the beginning kasi parang tick and flick lang yung work pero pag naiintindihan mo na yung work and yung client, mas masaya.

may rotation din ba pag nasa chartered firm ka sa pinas? in addition to audit work, nakakagawa din ba kayo ng business services/taxation work? or audit lang talaga for the whole year?

Like everything else, it depends. Usually though it's the other way around.

Depende din siguro sa size ng firm? I work kasi in a small firm. I do audits during the busy audit season. Here that's January to March for clients with December year end and July to October for clients with June year end. The rest of the year, I spend doing business services work and taxation work.

Dito kasi sa big 4, sobrang laki ng clients you get assigned sa pag-audit ng isang account lang (example cash lang) and I imagine that would be really really boring.

Well your imagination is quite true. May client na meron 50+ bank accounts and then your going to test all of there bank reconciliations haha

Nakalimutan nya sabihin kelangan mo tapusin yung bank rec sa 3 araw.

Fine, good sya for learning to deal with pressure pero in terms of being a well rounded accountant/auditor.

I'm asking because i'm currently working in a small firm and i am considering applying for a bigger firm in the audit section.

  18. #18
yes. staying there for about 3-4 years, if you are going to be a good auditor, paglabas mo, ang kukuha sa iyo usually, client mo.... kadalasan, chief accountant position ka agad which is equivalent to junior management position... sweldo? mababa sa audit.. tiis lang konti then paglabas mo, fo sure enjoy ka sa magiging sweldo mo... doble agad... minsan hindi lang doble...

If this were really the case, then when are you going to prepare the FS?

Never experienced it so di ko alam kung ano pinaghuhugutan nila!

Seriously, your development in the auditing firm would depend on you. If you feel you are underchallenged then tell that to your superior. We have a staff that tendered transfer documents but later swayed to stay within our group with the promise of giving more exciting workloads. Now he is having the role of a superstaff!

limiting? madaming accounting grad or even CPA ang hindi marunong gumawa ng bank recon sa actual scenario... im telling you, hindi limiting ang matutunan mo nang maigi ang tamang way ng bank recon...isa yan sa pinakamahalagang part ng FS... usually, yung mga boss na walang alam sa finance, bank recon lang ang mahalaga sa kanila.. cash position... period.
