CHALLENGE kay Dennis Trillo ang role niya sa Biritera na hinahabul-habol ng mga babae gaya nina Glaiza de Castro at Gwen Zamora.

“Pero pareho naman silang magaling kaya napapaganda namin ang eksena,” katwiran ni Dennis sa huli naming pag-uusap.

Nagugulat nga raw siya sa pagiging agresibo ni Gwen lalo na sa halikan nila, huh!

Pero may pagkakahawig ba sa tunay na buhay ang character niya sa series?

“Parehong mahilig sa music. Nu’ng umpisa, medyo masungit…,” sey niya.

Eh sa pagkakaroon ng babae?

“Babae? Dalawa lang naman ’yung nandito, eh. ’Yung totoong Dennis, isa lang talaga!” diin ng actor.

Hindi nga?

“Hahaha! Isa lang! ’Yun lang siguro ang pinagkaiba. Malapit din sa mga bata kasi meron na ring anak. Hindi naman nagkakalayo dahil kapatid naman ito,” rason ni Dennis.

Napapanood ba siya ng anak niya?

“Oo. Proud siya dahil nakikita niya si daddy. ’Pag may ibang tao, sinasabi niya. Proud siya na nakikita ako at sinasama ko rin siya sa mga taping.

“Alam na niya ’yung nature ng trabaho. Paano ’yung sistema kapag ako’y nagtatrabaho kapag hindi ko siya nakakasama,” kuwento niya.

Hindi man nagpapakita pa ng signs na gusto siyang sundan ng anak, ang pagiging mahilig sa music ang nakikita ni Dennis sa bagets.

“Mahilig din siya sa arts at feeling ko, ’yon ang traits na nakuha niya sa akin. Mahilig siya sa musical instruments nu’ng bata-bata pa siya. Pero ngayon, sa video games siya nahihilig.

“Mahilig pa rin siyang kumaskas ng gitara at ginagaya niya ako ’pag tumutugtog kami pati sa drums,” chika pa ni Dennis tungkol sa anak.

Gwen, walang na-feel sa laplapan kay Dennis!

Natawa na lang si Gwen Zamora nang makarating sa kanya na may mga nagagalit na fans ni Bianca King sa kanya dahil sa mga nagiging kissing scenes nila ni Dennis Trillo sa Biritera. Sey nga ni Gwen na nagiging professional lang siya.


Role niya sa Biritera ay die-hard fan ni Dennis na nakarelasyon nito.

Kaya may mga kissing scenes daw sila talaga. Pero wala raw feelings iyon at trabaho lang.


“They shouldn’t take it so seriously. Work lang ito. I mean, it’s our job as actors to make it look real.

Kung hindi maganda trabaho namin, baka wala kaming trabaho ngayon.


“And Dennis is a good friend. Hindi lang sa Biritera ko siya unang nakatrabaho because we have Bubble Gang. Sa set ng Bubble Gang, nagkukuwentuhan talaga kami and we do different skits na magkasama.


“Kaya there’s really nothing to get mad about. Let’s all be open-minded and understand naman nila ng trabaho namin bilang artista,” sey ni Gwen.


Mukhang in-demand ngayon si Gwen dahil bukod sa mga shows niyang Biritera at Bubble Gang, nasa pelikula siya na My Kontrabida Girl at sa international film titled The Witness na kinunan pa sa Indonesia.


“The film is a suspense thriller-horror type. I play Angel and na-witness ko sa isang dream ang isang man who committed suicide. From there, strange things have been happening sa akin and my family.


“I was able to work with Indonesian actors here. Mababait sila and I didn’t have a hard time working with them,” sey na lang ni Gwen.

Sinagot ni Gwen Zamora sa presscon ng The Witness ang isyu na baka pagselosan siya ni Bianca King dahil sa mga eksena nila ni Dennis Trillo sa Biritera.


Sinabi ni Gwen na wala itong problema kay Bianca dahil nagbabatian sila tuwing nagkikita.


Sakaling mabigyan si Gwen ng chance na magbida sa isang teleserye, si Dennis ang gusto niya na maging leading man dahil masarap na katrabaho ang rumored boyfriend ni Bianca.


Nangangarap si Gwen na magkaroon ng TV series na pagbibidahan niya at willing siya na maghintay sa big break na ibibigay ng Kapuso network.


Kahit hindi pa siya nagiging bida sa isang teleserye, lead actress na si Gwen sa The Witness.


Ang The Witness ang first international movie ni Gwen na pinrodyus ng Skylar Pctures, isang movie company sa Indonesia.


Mauunang ipalabas sa mga sinehan sa Pilipinas sa March 21 ang The Witness bago ito itanghal sa Indonesian theaters sa April 26.

Biritera surprises even cynics



Dennis Trillo, Glaiza de Castro and Angelika dela Cruz

When Biritera piloted on Feb. 6, the executives behind the new drama series crossed their fingers tightly, hoping the audience would accept Dennis Trillo and Glaiza de Castro as the characters they’d follow five nights a week.

Guess what! They did, making the series the highest rating in this new batch of soap operas in the Kapuso network.

Biritera introduces GMA-7’s newest child discovery, Roseanne, who plays the role of an aspiring young singer of the same name. As her character embarks on a journey from an amateur singer to a famous biritera, she discovers many things about her roots, her past and her real identity.

The series takes Trillo to another universe in acting, playing a singer in a band. He says he is glad the series allows him to show a side of his talent that is rarely tapped.

Also in the cast are Angelika dela Cruz as Remy, Roseanne’s loving adoptive mother; Rich Asuncion as Jo, Roseanne’s manipulative aunt; Ryan Eigenmann as Mr. D, Andrei and Roseanne’s talent manager; Ces Quesada as Simang, Remy’s aunt.

Shining also in the series is l’acteur non pareil Neil Ryan Sese as Eric, a rich businessman. He is glad that this time he doesn’t play the bad guy. The exceptional talent of this guy is so huge that soap like Biritera won’t ever consume him.

Gwen Zamora plays Iris, Andrei’s number one fan who will eventually fall in love with him. The Filipino French actress is very happy that finally she is in a series and his growing fans will allow them to watch her every night.

More exceptional actors are in the series as well, like Yul Servo playing Jo’s boyfriend Jerome.

So who says that the series is no big threat to those with more established stars? Remember that even a small voice can bring down an entire kingdom

Pawang positibo ang feedback para sa isa sa pinaka-bagong primetime offerings ng GMA-7 na Biritera.

Mabilis itong naging usap-usapan ng mga manonood at consistent din sa mataas na ratings.

Pinagbibidahan nina Dennis Trillo at Glaiza de Castro, at ipinakikilala ang bagong Kapuso child star na si Roseanne Magan, ang Biritera ay tungkol sa isang batang nangangarap na maging sikat na singer, at ang kaniyang pagtuklas sa kaniyang pinagmulan.

Simula nang umere ang Biritera noong February 6, patuloy itong namamayagpag sa ratings, ayon sa datos mula sa mas pinagkakatiwalaang ratings service provider na AGB Nielsen.

Noong February 6 to 10, nakapagtala ang programa ng Kapuso Network ng 26.7 household rating points laban sa 19.5 points ng katapat nitong programa. Panalo rin ang Biritera sa Urban Luzon, na kumakatawan sa 77 percent ng urban television households sa buong bansa, matapos makakuha ng 25.0 rating points na mas mataas sa 21.2 ng kabilang programa.

Sa pagpasok ng ikalawang linggo ay lalong tumaas ang agwat sa pagitan ng Biritera at ng katapat nito sa ibang network.

Mula February 13 to 17 ay nakakuha ito ng average household rating na 29.0 points sa Mega Manila, higit na mas mataas sa 20.3 points ng kakompetisya. Gayundin sa Urban Luzon, nakakuha ang pambato ng mga Kapuso ng 26.6 points percent habang 22.1 points lamang ang sa katapat nitong show.

Base sa huling ratings report ng AGB Nielsen (February 20 to 24 based on overnight ratings), patuloy na napag-iwanan ng Biritera ang kalaban nitong programa. Nakakuha ng 24.6 points sa Mega Manila, mas mataas ng 20.0 points sa counterpart nito sa kabilang istasyon.

Nagpapasalamat ang cast, lalong lalo na ang batang si Roseanne -- na hayagang nagsabi na ang pagtulong sa pamilya ang pangunahing dahilan ng kaniyang pagsali sa showbiz -- sa mainit ng pagtangkilik ng sambayanan sa Biritera.

Ang Biritera ay produksyon ng GMA Drama Group sa ilalim ng mahusay na pamamahala ng award-winning director na si Maryo J. delos Reyes, na siyang nagdirek ng napaka-matagumpay na Munting Heredera.

Sa mga susunod na episodes, mahaharap sa iba’t ibang pagsubok si Roseanne (Roseanne Magan) ngayong bahagi na siya ng industriya ng musika. Matatanggal sa trabaho si Remy (Angelika dela Cruz) at mapapadpad ito sa isang business na pagmamayari ni Eric (Neil Ryan Sese).

Samantala, panay pa rin si Iris (Gwen Zamora) sa pag-akit kay Andrei (Dennis Trillo) at hihingan pa nito ng tulong si Mikmik (Glaiza de Castro).
