Gwen Zamora does her own stunts in international film; admits dating non-showbiz guy
Rommel Gonzales

We started in August and ended in September," umpisang kuwento ni Gwen sa PEP.
"Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia," banggit ni Gwen.
"I was 50 kilos overweight kasi I was there for so long.
I just wanted to walk around so nagwu-walk-walk ako dun.
"And yeah, on the way back, 'Oh my God!'" sumobra raw sa timbang ang dala-dala niyang bagahe pabalik ng Pilipinas.
INDONESIA.
The way it's done, very ano... yung bubong, 'tapos street, tapos garden, garden, garden, garden. Puro garden."
First time daw niya iyon sa Indonesia.
"I'm immune to culture shock, so parang wala naman akong... sa sili lang ako nagkaproblema.
"Yung pagkain nila, sobrang anghang!" bulalas niya.
"Imagine yung plain rice nila, red na yung plain rice nila dahil puro sambal [chili-based sauce].
"Or 'pag kakain sila ng lumpia, sili, lumpia, sili, lumpia, sili, lumpia.
"Oo, ganun, grabe talaga!
HER ROLE? Ayon kay Gwen, ang The Witness ay, "It's more of a suspense-thriller.
"There are parts where you see dead people but they're not ghosts.
Yung nahulog ako from the second floor to the ground."
"Pero baka there might be parts yata na ipapalabas," sabi niya.
"Kasi from the second floor to the swimming pool, hindi naman sa concrete ako babagsak.
"Sa swimming pool ako nahulog, so parang exciting, and I want to do that."
GOING SEXY?
"A lot of people asked, but no, ayoko. If I do FHM, naka-tuxedo ako!
"It's more of a personal choice.
"Kasi if I really wanted to do it, I'm sure they would allow me. But I don't really want to do it.
"There are still a lot of things that I want to accomplish bago ako mag-FHM," sabi niya.
"No naman. Maybe in the next couple of years."
"Once. It was for Men's Health [magazine]. Parang summer special last year."
"Yeah, no naman! Pero the way it was done was very wholesome.
IT'S COMPLICATED.
"He's a very private person," sabi niya.
"I don't know. It's complicated!
"It's complicated because of work... the point that the kind of life I have right now parang... he's understanding naman, e.
"He's very understanding, that's one of the reasons why I like him.
"And he saw me from before showbiz to now so I have a lot of respect for him."
Matagal na ba silang nagde-date?
"Pero on and off," sagot niya.
"I have other things to think about and work on before being in a relationship," sagot ni Gwen.

Ang ganda ng trailer nito. Nakakapangilabot. I have a theory, though, that Gwen Zamora's role is that of a psychopath.

PIK PAK BOOM Ni Sol Gorgonio (Pilipino Star Ngayon) Updated March 21, 2012 12:00 AM Comments (0)

Gwen, lusot sa The Witness!
SANGA-SANGANDILA Ni Veronica R. Samio (Pilipino Star Ngayon) Updated March 21, 2012 12:00 AM Comments (0)
Wala siyang ginawa sa pelikula from the start up to the end kundi ang umiyak nang umiyak.

English, Filipino, at Bahasa ang three languages na ginamit sa The Witness, ang suspense-thriller movie ng Skylar Pictures at GMA Films na showing na simula ngayong araw. Bida rito sina Gwen Zamora at Indonesian model-turned actor Agung Saga.

“Dating pa lang naman kami, but of course he’s special to me,” napapangiting sagot sa amin ng magandang aktres.
any update about this film?? it looks promising talaga! i wanna watch this with friends kaso busy pa sila.. will try next week..
Movie Review for The Witness
Crippling Compromise
by Philbert Ortiz Dy
posted on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 in Movie Reviews
The Witness might have started out as a different story. Midway through the film, it takes a break from the narrative as it reveals the circumstances that led to the tragic events at the beginning of the story. And here we find a completely different film: one about young love and betrayal, with a musical motif and Oedipal undertones. It feels like this is the story that the filmmakers actually wanted to tell. But in its current form, The Witness stuffs that story into a really clunky thriller that is really about a woman not smart enough to get help from the police.
Angel (Gwen Zamora) is a Filipino living in Jakarta with her family. One night, a man wielding a shotgun invades their home, killing everyone inside. Or so he thinks. Miraculously, Angel survives being shot. She wakes up in the hospital days later, still unclear on who the attacker was or why he did it. She begins to see visions of her family popping up in the periphery, seemingly pointing her to the right answers. The visions share a strange connection to a recurring dream she has of young man alone in his room, doing himself harm. She follows the clues, and uncovers a story of a love betrayed.
The thriller portion of the movie is halfheartedly done. The narrative moves solely through contrivance, with the main character apparently unable to bring herself to help a kind police detective to catch the man that killed her family. The detective asks her if she can remember anything at all that might help identify the killer, but she remains staunchly unhelpful, even after receiving a vision of the man killing her family again. And when she lucks into a clue that could lead to the killer’s residence, she does not wait for the police. In spite of showing nothing but terror in the last few days, she is apparently brave enough to enter what could be a murderer’s home all on her own.
It just seems like the film wasn’t all that interested in telling this murderous tale. The mechanics of it don’t work at all. It just never seems like Angel is making enough of an effort to make herself safe, and the villain doesn’t really seem like much of a threat. The film finds some spark in a middle flashback sequence that reveals the roots of the massacre. It’s a long diversion with a completely different tone that feels almost separate from the rest of the movie.
It feels like this project is a victim of crippling compromise. That middle story is reworked so that it fits inside a more marketable horror construct. It’s a story worth telling, but the movie that surrounds it just doesn’t work. Likewise, the casting of Gwen Zamora feels like something that was thrust on the filmmakers. The fact that the main character is Filipino never really factors into the story, and the Indonesia cast members seems to suffer through having to speak in Tagalog. Zamora isn’t given much to work with anyway, but she still manages to oversell many of her scenes.
In the end, The Witness simply falls apart into sheer ridiculousness. The heroine continues to make bad choices, and the villain starts becoming something more than human as the film grasps for anything that might be considered scary or horrific. But its heart just isn’t into it. By this point, the film had already told the story that it wanted to tell, and was just trying to reach some abstract quota before limping towards its ending.

Written by Peter Ledesma
Friday, 23 March 2012 Hataw!
Kuha n’yo gyud!
P7.6M in two weeks!
As expected.. oh well.. Bawi na lang sa Indonesia at Singapore.
