Preseason games sa province? Pwede naman sigurong subukan muna di ba?
My point exactly. Kung even commercial teams that represent products that the Philippine masses use cannot guarantee following, ano pa kaya yung schools that does not even ring a bell for most outsiders. We need to promote league following from the inside since we do not have marketable teams like an Ateneo or a La Salle who people are most familiar with, and follow to an extent.
Pwede siguro SBC vs Letran or SBC vs Baste. Pwede din silang tatlo for a mini-tourney.
I wish to have a replay games of ncaa during evening, kasi like us at the afternoon we cannot watch it kaya we want it to have a replay by 9pm onwards![]()
^^ or you can buy a PVR and attach it to your cable box, meron din yung hightech gadget na ang tawag ay - VHS player.
I hope this will not push through. We should also think the safety of our players in the road. How about their studies? Can they cope up since they will be tired both from travel and basketball.
Not to mention the band and cheerleaders who will support the team. This move is very similar to US NCAA but we are different with them. Maliit lang ang population and area natin.
In my personal note, here my list of commentators for the NCAA since the transfer on AKTV:
1. Aaron Atayde
2. LA Mumar
3. Nikko Ramos
4. Jolly Escobal (kaya lang baka me kilingan kasi Baste alma mater nya)
interesting that you people want road games.
if it's for free, i don't think how will this help gate receipts.
if it's for exposure, there's TV.
loyal fans should hate road games -- after all, they won't be able to watch their teams live. road games would not be beneficial, at all. if anything, if attendance is really bad, the league should consider holding games at their home gyms. the US NCAA does this, and most of their gyms are not like the cameron indoor stadium. malamang parang dito lang din, kahit on weak teams on major programs.
as for AKTV, they were bad at the start of the PBA but improved somewhat but still not "good." they do have a really catchy "KAMPIHAN NA" campaign which caught on.
iba ang style ng college hoops sa pro hoops, and interestingly, even ABS-CBN could not translate this. unless of course if you're a fangirling on poging atenistas, sure ABS did a good job with the UAAP but there's something in the coverage that was missing. take a look at the ESPN's and CBS's coverage. parang more feel at home.
would you guys be in favor of dropping college students as CSRs? for me, it's a hit or miss, actually. i do want cute girls as CSRs but most of the time, they're really effing bad.
As far as road games are concerned, not everyone is keen on bringing school teams beyond NCR except for MANCOM. Speculatively speaking, it suggests that it is part of an agreement with AKTV to complement the pro-league games. Hitting two birds with one stone is the benefit since it will increase fans trooping in the provinces where pro teams usually play their games and logistics will be maximized on AKTV's part by providing collegiate games before the pros strut their stuff.
And again if we are to speculate, the ideal setting for that happening is in our sister schools that usually accomodate PBA games like Lipa Batangas, Bataan, Laguna, or anywhere with proximity but close affiliation to NCAA teams. It's still under review as far as feasibility studies are concerned. And like the CSRs, it's a definite hit-or-miss situation.
And CSR's are the breeding ground for professional courtside reporters so it's inevitable that they will take their cue from what ABS has done for the UAAP and applied the same formula for the NCAA in the past. Quality will be missed in most reports but at least you can rely on the long-term training that CSR's will acquire when they move up in the sports media ladder. Besides, it's not like they're aiming for a Tonichi Yturri clone. You see?
Now let's go back to helping AKTV and helping the NCAA:
I think acquiring the rights to cover the Father Martin's Cup can help tilt that balance in "cross-league" tourneys. ABS has Filoil and PCCL, it would be prudent to make an offer to FMC so they can cover preseason or post-season collegiate tourneys. It would benefit other schools not under the NCAA or UAAP too like the UCAA, SCUAA or NAASCU members. Because if AKTV is truly keen on getting UAAP, they will make moves to acquire other tourneys that feature UAAP teams. Another suggestion would be the CDL-Sandugo where some school Team B's are featured.![]()
Magandang idea yun FMC. Basketball. Maraming die hard fans (at scouts) ang manonood nun![]()
matagal ng wala ang nsl. ok lang yan, although it has a bigger scope than filoil, it seemed to be a redundancy with fmc still around.
i miss the free stuff i get from covering that league though haha
4pm talaga start ng games and apparently, so will our opening ceremonies (or probably moved to 2pm). Telecast would be live of course!
Mukhang madaming stuck up until midnight in the chosen venue (SMART-Araneta?) when this starts. The benefit of course is that most restos, bars, and shops will earn more with a captured market while retaining their daytime customers. It really helps that a coliseum or an arena is within the vicinity of a mall.![]()
