How to make AKTV and NCAA better

Aside from the weekend games, what would make this marriage better?

    1. Courtside reporters who are really fit for TV and w/ basketball IQ

  2. #2

make the coverage focus on the game mismo. huwag sa school.

pinoys love basketball. but if the coverage will put emphasis on the "league members", those who love the game but are not from any member school and with bias and prejudice on certain members will not "follow the coverage".

of course minsan history between two schools -- recent and old-- will be cited. but it should not go beyond the playday the two teams play each other.

the coverage should embrace all and not just encourage more participation from students and alumni.

highlight the marquee players more because pinoys are "personality oriented" to begin with. pero huwag sa coaches.

sa pba at d-league, the fan following is on more on the players than the teams-- except for brgy ginebra.

after a few years and the ncaa has a created a niche and may regular advertisers, then bahala na sila anong follow tru ang gagawin nila in the packaging of the league.

basta sa simula... focus on the game and the marquee players.

Statistics and In-depth analysis of teams will play a vital role in the long-term relationship of AKTV and the NCAA besides the stand-out athletes from each school. If they can cite the history plus the stats that included coverage from it's competitor (ABS), they would entice more alumni to analyze the games and promote a healthy debate on who weighs farther in terms of developed program, key acquisitions, losses to graduation, and traditions. They can even go as far as analyze what MANCOM is doing if they can when things go ugly again. Maybe their drama can help.

Pop-up ads would be helpful in immersing a new AKTV fanbase to what the NCAA is all about and the schools with outstanding accomplishments in the basketball tourney. This would help them form a grassroots appeal without having to compare them desperately to professional teams in the PBA or to the other side again.

CSR's are truly helpful and we can thank ABS for developing such talents early on, AKTV can take a page from their competitor with this concept and it helps viewers be aware of what the coaches or players are saying before, during, and after the games.

And finally, let's just hope the commentators will be decent enough to market and talk to fans so as to keep everyone excited and tuned to what they're saying. You see?

Sana magfeature sila ng isang maliit na documentary about the history of ncaa at yung mga sumikat di lang sa basketball kundi pati na din sa ibang sports para malaman din ng madlang people how ncaa contributed in Philippine sports

Getting some old classic games (pre-ABS era mas maganda) would be nice also, make ala NBA Classic so more AKTV viewers can appreciate the rich history of the league.

    like

I think most of them were aired over PTV 4. Vintage even aired the NCAA in 1999.

I remember Janelle So hit by coins thrown on the court during a Letran-JRU championship game at PhilSports.

I should know because I covered that game for DZSR that time.

AKTV should also replay games to give chance to those who cannot watch the games in the afternoon.. kahit naman siguro students di makapanood ng games sa hapon eh..

also, the courtside reporters play a VITAL role in the live coverage thus it would be best to acquire the best people to do the job. BEAUTY is a factor but it wont matter if he/she doesn't know anything bout the games (may it be basketball, volleyball, etc..) he/she covers.

the NCAA should have a pretty decent website. im not sure if the host school has the burden of maintaining the website but whoever is tasked to handle the website should do a better job in terms of putting updates, stats, athletes info, etc...

  12. #12
I think updates via official website is secondary to tweets and facebook updates on the games in the ncaa.org.ph FB page. Because there are some active viewers helping post the latest scores.

As for replays, we better check what AKTV offers around 9pm onwards. Usually foreign sports ang nandiyan or re-runs ng UFL. Step-by-step sana ang exposure sana for us and added name recall for our league plus sponsors.

Top Ten plays of the week please!

Classic games please! Kahit nung time na wala pa CSB!

Ayos yan.

the fact that you have your own in-house official website lamang na kayo sa uaap. 'outsourced' sa abs-cbn ang website ng uaap

  16. #16

pero sana naman next time yung on the spot updates agad sa ibang sports.

  17. #17
gawa sila ng weekly roundup yung tulad dati sa studio 23 yung NCAA college hoops.

pero siyempre huwag puro basketball updates lang. at least get highlights of actions from other sports

My suggested segments for the tv coverage:

    1. THIS DAY IN NCAA HISTORY

    2. DID YOU KNOW?

An example for #2 is DID YOU KNOW THAT THE MAXIMUM AGE IN THE JUNIORS DIVISION IN THE 1950s WAS 21 YEARS? I have a hard copy of this. The NCAA changed this from 21 to 20 by the start of the 60s. The current maximum age requirement for the Juniors is 18 years.

These segments I think will help aid the ordinary basketball fan especially the young ones of how rich in history and tradition the NCAA is.

how about airing the finals & final four games on TV5? parang wala namang magandang palabas sa TV5 kapag hapon so pwede natin hiramin yung time na yun

  20. #20
