Sharon, masaya sa daily show sa TV5

DUMALAW ako taping ng Sharon daily show ni Sharon Cuneta sa Delta Theater, kung saan guests sina Annabelle Rama at Pilita Corrales.

Tuwang-tuwa ang megastar sa guesting ng dalawang Bisayang showbiz personalities sa kanyang bagong show sa TV5.

Nang makaalis na sina Tita Annabelle at Tita Pilita, pinuntahan ko sa dressing room ang megastar kung saan ay nire-retouch ni TF (Fanny Serrano) ang kanyang make-up.

Nakita ko sa loob ng dressing room ni Shawie ang confidante niyang si Anna at si Maricar Ong (dating Viva staff na nagwo-work na ngayon sa megastar).

Nandoon din si Ms. Krizzy na dating executive producer ng show ni Shawie sa ABS-CBN na lumipat na sa TV5 at ngayon ay namamahala sa show ng megastar sa Kapatid network.

“Tinawagan ako ni Shawie, siyempre, nandito rin ako ngayon,” sey ni Ms. Krizzy.

Na-appreciate ng megastar na kahit may sakit si Tita Annabelle ay hindi ito nag-backout sa guesting na ‘yon.

“Touched ako kay Tita Annabelle, kaya panay ang sabi ko ng thank you at magpahinga na siya dahil may sakit siya,” sey ni Shawie na idinagdag pang nag-enjoy siya sa pag-iinterbyu kina Tita Annabelle at Tita Pilita.

Excited siya na mag-pilot ang Sharon show niya at sana ay tuloy na ang premiere telecast nila sa Abril 30.

Hindi lang mga artista ang guests nila sa Sharon kundi may mga ordinaryong tao.

Sa mga kuwento ni Shawie, halatang happy siya sa bagong show niya sa TV5 at pati na sa staff niya.

Marami na silang na-advance taping.

Sa isang linggo ay tatlong araw silang nagte-taping (Miyerkules, Huwebes at Biyernes) at tigtatlong episodes bawat araw.

“Takot kasi ako sa kanya (Helen). Ang lagi kong tine-text, si Ciara (Sotto, bunsong anak nina Helen at Tito Sotto),” bulalas ng Megastar.

“I think, na-offend siya du’n sa isang line na hiningi ni Wilson Flores (sumulat ng article ni Sharon sa isang broadsheet) sa akin, na hindi ko alam kung anong sobra.”

Paglilinaw ni Shawie, tapos na ‘yung isyu ng Senate presidency (kung saan tumakbo ang mister niyang si Senador Kiko Pangilinan, na hindi umano sinuportahan ng tiyuhin niyang si Senador Tito Sotto).

Wala na raw ‘yon at nailibing na.

Iyung pangalawang issue na kesyo nagmamalinis daw si Kiko samantalang ito si ‘Mr. Noted’ sa Senate hearing, hindi raw sila nagsalita about it, pero na-shock siya tungkol doon dahil hindi na ‘yon kailangang sabihin pa.

Nang matapos din ang isyung ‘yon ay hindi raw sila nagsalita ng kahit ano, pero hindi na sila nagkausap ng kanyang Tita Helen at never na rin silang nagkita.

“Ang laking gulat ko lang talaga. Kasi, sa family namin, they were the people who taught me eh -- sila nina Mommy -- na hindi kami naglilinis ng dirty linen in public, ‘di ba? Nagulat ako. It was shocking to me…

“Feeling ko, artista naman ako. Bakit nag-asawa lang ako ng politician, kailangan kasama rin ako sa gulo ng pulitika?

“Ang tanong lang ni Wilson was, ‘So, do you believe that politics destroys relationships?’ Sabi ko, ‘Yeah, that’s why sometimes, when your uncle says something about your husband, you don’t understand.’

“Iyun lang ang sinabi ko, pero ang sakit-sakit na ng sinabi niya (Helen). Ang joke ko nga kay Ciara, ‘Ginawa niya akong saranggola ni Pepe!’

“Kailan ako naging matayog? Ha! Ha! Ha!” patawa-tawang sambit ni Sharon habang umiiyak.

Patuloy niya, “I think she meant lang kasi na after all the statements given before, bakit hindi ko pinatulan ‘yung second round ng pag-aakusa ni Uncle Tito?

“Ang hirap kasi. Ang sakit-sakit sa akin, kasi tatay ko siya, eh!

“Gusto ko lang linawin na mahal na mahal ko ang Tita Helen ko. Hindi ko siya dini-disrespect.

“Kaya lang, siguro naman, 46 na ako. Meron din akong karapatang masaktan at magpalipas ng sama ng loob bago humarap, para naman walang plastikan, ‘Yun lang naman ‘yon.

“Hindi po ako nagmamalaki. Nakakahiya ‘pag nagmalaki ako dahil siya, kasama siya sa nagpalaki sa akin.

“So, kung totoo man ‘yung paratang na ‘yon, napaka-delayed reaction ko naman na lumaki ang ulo, ‘di ba?

“Mahal na mahal ko sila. Gusto ko lang linawin. Pero alam n’yo, kahit sa Bibliya, kapag nag-asawa ka, kailangan you side with your husband. Iiwanan mo ang lahat para sa asawa mo.

“Kaya ang hirap ng sitwasyon ko, eh. Napakahirap talaga. Pero ayoko ng gulo. Mahal na mahal ko ang pamilya ko, lalo na ang mga kapatid kong Sotto. I miss them so much,” bulalas pa ni Sharon, na halos hirap nang magsalita at parang sisipunin na dahil sa kakaiyak.

Kahit hindi niya napigilang maging emosyonal, nagpasalamat si Sharon na naitanong sa kanya ang tungkol doon dahil kahit paano ay nailabas niya lahat ng kinikimkim niya.

Tsika pa ni Mega, dahil co-star ni Richard Gomez ang Tita Helen niya sa teleseryeng Walang Hanggan, minsan ay nagpapadala siya ng mensahe kay Richard para sa kanyang tiyahin.

Magkaibigan kasi sila ni Goma hanggang ngayon at in touch silang dalawa.

“Kaya minsan, meron akong mga pinararating na message sa kanya kay Tita Helen. ‘Yung mga, ‘Oy, Margaret (pangalan ng karakter ni Tita Helen sa Walang Hanggan), tama na ‘yan!’ Ha! Ha! Ha!

Kaya minsan, ‘pag nagti-taping sina Goma at Tita Helen ay may pinapadala siyang mensahe kay Goma at sinasabihan niya itong ipabasa ‘yon kay Tita Helen.

“Eh, hurt pa, eh. Hurt siya. Kung napi-feel niya na na-disrespect siya, I’m really sorry. Pero na-feel ko rin kasi na na-disrespect ‘yung asawa ko. ‘Yun lang naman. Hindi naman kami nakikipagmataasan.

“Never kong ginawa sa 46 years ng buhay ko ang magmalaki. Ang ginagawa ko lang sana no’n, dahil wala namang monopoly na sumama ang loob at magpalamig ng ulo bago makipag-usap, ang gusto ko lang naman gawin, magpalamig nang konti para lumipas na ‘yung sama ng loob bago kami mag-usap ulit.

“Ang balak ko nga, surprise-in siya sa bahay niya. And bago ko nagawa ‘yon, na-shock ako. Na-shock kaming dalawa sa issue.

“At napakasakit nu’n dahil ‘yung accusations niya, parang ang feeling ko lang, ha? Nagnakaw ako ng tinapay, tapos ang parusa niya sa akin… LETHAL INJECTION! Ha! Ha! Ha!

Despite her stature as the Megastar, Sharon Cuneta still has the right to get mad, cry, and feel bad.

Her eyes welled up with tears at the press launch of her new show on TV5, as she talked about her still-unresolved rift with her aunt Helen Gamboa, the sister of her Mommy Elaine.

It’s been more than a month since she said, "Yes, politics does divide families, like when my uncle says something bad about Kiko, you don't understand why..."

Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan is Sharon's husband.

To which, Helen retorted: “Sumasama ang loob ko. I feel that it is not right na ang pamangkin ko ay masyadong matayog. I could feel that she's so unreachable. Hindi ko na siya maabot…”

But reconciliation seems nowhere near the horizon.

In between sobs, Shawie (her nickname) said, “Yun lang sinabi ko ‘tapos ang sakit-sakit na ng sinabi niya…”

Her only line to Senator Tito Sotto’s family is Ciara.

In jest, she told her cousin, “Ano ako saranggola ni Pepe, matayog?”

At the press launch, she told PEP.ph (Philippine Entertainment Portal): “Hindi ako nagmamalaki. Hindi ako lumaking ganun.

“Kasama ko siyang nagpalaki sa akin…

“Napaka-delayed reaction ko naman na lumaki ang ulo ko ngayon...

“Hindi naman ako nakikipagmataasan. Diyos ko, never kong ginawa sa 46 years ng buhay ko yung magmalaki….

“Ang sakit naman nun dahil yung accusations niya... parang nanay ko yun.”

Sharon looks to define her legacy with TV5 talk show

For her first project under her billion-peso five-year contract with TV5, Sharon Cuneta will host and co-produce a daily talk show that will carry her name and, she hopes, will define her legacy.

“I wanted my name on my show again. It was TV5 that gave it to me,” the megastar said Wednesday in a media conference on the set of “Sharon: Kasama Mo, Kapatid” at TV5’s Delta Theater in Quezon City.

Sharon opened up on a wide range of issues that have hounded her transfer to TV5 in November after more than 23 years with ABS-CBN.

What rankled most, she said, was the opinion that her decision was all about the price tag, which represents the biggest TV deal for any Filipino artist.

“Nasaktan ako kasi some people thought it was about the one billion,” she confessed.

“Masakit na tinawag akong mukhang pera. Pinaghirapan ko naman ito for more than 30 years.”

She said her net income, after all the commissions and salaries due her managers and staff, as well as the taxes that make her a favorite of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, would be “the same amount, more or less” she was earning from her ABS-CBN contract.

Sharon then quoted TV5 big boss Manny V. Pangilinan as having told her she was easily worth double.

After being in the limelight since she was 12, the 46-year-old singer-actress can’t be faulted for being concerned with her legacy—a word she mentioned several times during the conference.

She believes “Sharon: Kasama Mo, Kapatid,” a gabfest in the “Oprah” mold, is the perfect vehicle for it.

The show took a while to put together because, she said she and the TV5 top brass wanted to ensure its high quality.

“They wanted na en grande at elegante ang show. They’re very involved in the production,” she said of TV5 president Ray Espinosa, vice president Bobby Barreiro, and head for creative and entertainment production Perci Intalan.

In the same breath, Sharon acknowledged the creative freedom at her disposal as a co-producer of the program.

For this purpose she put up her own company, Mega Productions, Inc., with her personal manager, Sandra Chavez, and long-time adviser Vic del Rosario of Viva Entertainment.

Her writers left their cushy jobs in ABS-CBN and GMA to join her.

“I have the best writers, the best staff on TV,” she boasted.

She cited as proof of the program’s quality the quandary she and the TV5 management have faced in deciding which will be the pilot among the 15 episodes they have taped so far.

“Wala pa rin kaming napipili. Paganda kasi nang paganda ang mga episodes,” she said.

She has been taping three shows three times a week.

The show will feature “regular people with extraordinary stories” and will run the gamut of human emotions.

“It’s filled with surprises. May mga episodes na tawa lang kami ng tawa. And then next time naman iyak kami ng iyak,” she said.

When she does have celebrities as guests, Sharon makes sure they come for an in-depth discussion, “not just to promote something.”

The celebrity guest list so far includes Derek Ramsay, Jannelle Manahan, Amy Perez, Bing Loyzaga, Katrina Halili, Vicki Belo and daughter Crystalle Henares, Cristy Fermin, Lolit Solis, and Lourd de Veyra.

Sharon is candid about her efforts to emulate Oprah Winfrey.

“Anybody who does a talk show like this wants to be like her. And it’s mainly because of the number of lives she has been able to touch,” she said.

Her idols in the gabfest format also include Barbara Walters and Ellen DeGeneres.

The daily afternoon show will premiere on May 7. The time slot will be announced later.
