The main poster for “The King 2hearts” which stars Lee Seung Gi and Ha Ji Won was unleashed.

The backdrop of the drama has an interesting concept that South Korea has maintained its constitutional monarchy. The story is about South Korea’s king (Played by Lee Seung Gi) falling in love with a North Korean Special Forces instructor. (Played by Ha Ji Won) The story will show how the two push away their prejudice and differences for their love.


Lee Seung Gi is showing off his uniform look while Ha Ji Won is showing off a more “pure” charm in her pink clothes.

A representative of the production team stated, “Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi had great synergy since day one of filming. The staff members were very satisfied. ‘The King 2hearts’ will be a drama that will surpass the anticipation for it.”

Editorial Viewers Left Disappointed Due to MBC Strike

Ever since MBC’s The Sun and the Moon decided to air special broadcasts for its March 8 and 9 episodes, viewers have been sighing in disappointment.

The Sun and the Moon revealed through its official webpage that ‘because of current issues with MBC, this week’s The Sun and the Moon will not be airing new 19th and 20th episodes’. It also stated that it would be airing special broadcasts full of edits of important scenes from the drama.


The broadcasts will not be airing as the main producers of The Sun and the Moon, including producer Kim Do Hoon, expressed their will to participate in the MBC strike, which has now met its fifth week.

Infinity Challenge, the representative of MBC variety, has already been airing specials for five weeks since it joined the strike immediately after it started.

These ‘special broadcasts’ consist of re-edited reruns or a string of important scenes from the show. As such, nothing is really special about the broadcasts except their titles; they’re simply reruns or a string of re-edited episodes.

The viewers are the ones being hit. The Sun and the Moon only has two episodes left until it wraps up its 40 percent viewership rating legacy; viewers can’t help but feel let down when the episodes go missing amidst the big attention being paid to the drama’s big conclusion.

Viewers are also starting to feel the same toward the missing Infinity Challenge episodes. The show always managed to wow its viewers with new ideas, and so five weeks of reruns have been especially dull and disappointing.

One viewer posted on the viewer forum, ‘I have nothing to look forward to now that The Sun and the Moon and Infinity Challenge aren’t airing. I hope you respect the right of the viewers more than anything’.

MBC strike cancels airing of "The Sun and the Moon"

Midweek MBC drama "The Sun and the Moon" will not air this week following a strike by the program's director, Kim Do-hoon. Earlier in the day, the network said it was unsure whether the program would continue to air, but later made the final announcement.

"We filmed up until March 5, but recording for March 6 was cancelled. Episode 19, slated to air on March 7, is yet incomplete, and for now, airing seems impossible", the network representative said. Instead of the 19th and 20th episodes, MBC will air a special-edition show based on the drama.

Union members of three of the nation's leading broadcasters – KBS, MBC and YTN – went on strike on March 5 to protest what they saw as politically biased reporting.

Due to various program directors taking part in the union strike, other MBC dramas, such as "Feast of the Gods", "God of War" and "Just Like Today", are also at risk of being cancelled this week.

Kim who is shooting for near-end episodes for the series, The Moon That Embraces The Sun brightens the atmosphere of the shooting site by being energetic.

In one of the pictures, Kim smiles brightly towards the camera acting like a child. However, as soon as the shooting starts, he becomes so absorbed in acting and acts like a professional.

TV ‘The Sun and the Moon’ Specials Draw Mixed Reactions

The March 7 broadcast of The Sun and the Moon was replaced with a ‘special episode’ due to the MBC strike, drawing out mixed reactions from the drama’s avid viewers.

The special broadcast was an edit of important scenes from previous episodes.



The episode reminded its viewers of scenes from the characters’ past, when the young Yeon Woo (Kim Yoo Jung) and Hwon (Yeo Jin Gu) first encountered each other in the palace, and the time Yeon Woo and Bo Kyung (Kim So Hyun) started to face each other.

Some viewers took to viewer forums to say it was great to see the child actors again and that it was a good summary of past episodes.

Others commented, ‘A special broadcast just two episodes away from the end dulls the experience’, ‘Why don’t you air some new footage instead?’ and ‘I like the child actors, but I still want to see the ending’.

According to AGB Nielsen Media Research on March 8, The Sun and the Moon’s special recorded a high of 24.5 percent viewership rating across the country and 26.9 percent near the capital.

The short film The Worst Friends, which stars Kim Soo Hyun and Jung So Min, is currently attracting attention.

A picture under the title of “In the past, Kim Soo Hyun and Jung So Min appeared together in a short film” has recently been uploaded on an online community board. Filmed in 2009, this film has been invited to many short film festivals, such as the 3rd Great Short Film Festival in 2009, the 9th Mise-en-Scène Short Film Festival in 2010, and the 10th Mise-en-Scène Short Film Festival in 2011.

TV Kim Soo Hyun Immersion Into His Role Garners Praise

While Kim Soo Hyun may have earned praised for his acting before, his current role as Lee Hwon is quite possibly, the most iconic role of his career thus far.

Recently, fans have been showering Kim with praise for his acting in the climactic scene where he, the fictional Joseon Dynasty king, Lee Hwon, faces Princess Min Hwa (played by Nam Bo Ra) in MBC’s The Sun and the Moon.

In the scene, Hwon goes to question Princess Min Hwa after he learns she was involved in the conspiracy to kill Crown Princess Yeon Woo and after hearing the full-account from her, is unable to hold back his sobs.

It was a climactic scene, highlighted by the terrified, confessing Princess Min Hwa, and of Kim’s Hwon, who could not hold back his cries after learning the ugly truth.


Though Kim received praise early on in the series for his steady acting ability, it was not an easy role. And the scene with Princess Min Hwa highlighted Kim’s actings.

In Kim’s interview for The Sun and the Moon on the drama’s official homepage Kim shared, “It was difficult shooting the scenes where I cried with Princess Min Hwa. Though I was acting, my chest ached as though it was being pressed down on.”

The Sun and the Moon now has two episodes left in its series. After being delayed by the MBC labor union strikes and having special episodes aired in its place this week, the final 20th episode will air on March 15 to conclude the series.

Lee Seung Gi and Ha Ji Won have already finished filming their first kiss scene!

At the press conference for MBC’s upcoming drama The King 2Hearts on March 8, director Lee Jae Kyu said, “Up till I came to this press conference we were shooting. In the morning Lee and Ha filmed a kiss scene in bed."

Lee added, “It wasn’t a kiss on the lips but a kiss on the back of the neck. If [Ha and I] were not close, filming a scene like that would have been awkward. Both Ha and I are like that. Thankfully she has been so nice and always smiling since our first meeting. I think the viewers will enjoy it.”

Ha went on to say, “Despite [Lee] being younger than me, he was bolder than I was. Though I’ve had more experiences with kiss scene than him, he wasn’t shy at all and was quite bold. I think [Lee] is a lot more mature than I thought. Though I was a bit concerned, Lee did so well we were able to finish the shoot well.”

In addition to director Lee, Lee Seung Gi and Ha Ji Won, they were joined at the press conference by their co-stars, Lee Yoon Ji, Jo Jung Suk and others to answer questions with the press, raising anticipation for the drama.

The King 2Hearts is a black comedy revolving around a fictional constitutional monarchy Korea in which the Crown Prince of South Korea, Lee Jae Ha (played by Lee Seung Gi) and a top North Korean female soldier, Kim Hang Ah (played by Ha Ji Won) come to fall in love each other. After the conclusion of The Sun and the Moon, the series will premiere on March 21.

Ratings for "The Sun and the Moon" fell to half of what they normally due to the 'special program' that had to replace its normal episode because of the labor strike.

According to AGB Nielsen Media Research on March 8th, the first special episode of the "The Sun and the Moon", aired on March 7th, rated a 24.5% viewing percentage. This is 16.7% less than the 41.2% it rated on March 1st.

This can only be seen as disastrous compared to the 41.3% it once scored, vastly superior to other TV programs.

"The Sun and the Moon" stepped over the 40% viewing percentage mark and proved its popularity and ability to master the Korean drama. But the fact that producer Kim Do-hoon joined the labor strike splashed cold water on the drama.

Due to this decision, the production notified viewers on the previous evening that "The Sun and the Moon" will be replaced with a special program.

Meanwhile, SBS's "Take Care of Us, Captain" rated 7.2% and KBS2 "Drama Special - Ordinary Love" rated 3.6%.

‘The Sun and the Moon’ and ‘The King 2Hearts’ Settle on Air Dates

After a whirlwind week of shifting primetime network drama airdates, it looks like the dust is finally settling, MBC has officially announced new airdates.

Fans of The Sun and the Moon, who were left bereft of finding out the conclusion of the mega-hit drama, will be able to see the final two episodes in just one week. According to MBC, the 19th and 20th concluding episodes of The Sun and the Moon will air on March 14 and 15 respectively.

Additionally, the premiere of The King 2Hearts, which was originally scheduled for March 14, has now been officially set for March 21.


Though yet unconfirmed, reports say it is highly likely the premiere of SBS’ Rooftop Prince as well as KBS’ Equator Man will also premiere on March 21 now, opposite The King 2Hearts.

Actress Ha Ji Won recently talked how she feels about marriage.

On March 8, Ha attended a press conference for MBC’s new Wednesday-Thursday series The King 2 Hearts and was asked about marriage. Ha replied that she doesn’t know yet.

Ha plays the role of a North Korean instructor for the Special Forces named Kim Hang Ah. She said, “Since I’m trying hard to embody my character wonderfully, I even dreamed that I was forced into a political marriage like the series.”

Ha added, “I know that I’m old enough to marry but I don’t know

what marriage is. People tell me about getting married but since I don’t what marriage is, I’m not thinking about getting married yet.”

Kim Hang Ah, that Ha plays in the series, became a legend in North Korea after she survived from the Special Forces. She joins in a unified team of North and South Korean players for the world officer contest. Then she meets Lee Jae Ha, the prince of South Korea. Singer and actor Lee Seung Gi will play the role of the prince.

Been missing Hyun Bin lately?

Recently, on the official homepage of Korea’s Military Manpower Administration, an announcement for an event was posted for those calling for those individuals who had three generations of men that served as an active soldier in the Korean army to send in their photos. In the event posting was included an official photo of Hyun Bin in his marine officer uniform.


In the picture, a smiling Hyun Bin is seen in his pristine-white marine uniform with his arms confidently on his hips. In particular, fans noticed the new corporal insignia on his uniform as it was announced on March 1 that he had been promoted to the rank of corporal.(correction not corporal but it is a SERGENT)

Netizens commented on the picture saying, “His good looks haven’t changed at all”, “His face is radiating” and “I want to see him on television already.”

Hyun Bin passed his one year mark in the marines on March 6 and is set to be released from his service this year on December 6.

Kim Soo Hyun's Heart Condition Shocks Fans

It’s been belatedly revealed that Kim Soo Hyun suffered from a cardiac disorder. During an interview on March 2010, the young actor brought up the topic of his heart condition. At the time, the interview was supposed to take place on a Monday but had to be pushed back to Friday because of Kim Soo Hyun's surgery. Kim Soo Hyun arrived to the interview looking pale and exhausted. However, he stated, “I’m so sorry. It wasn’t a big operation. If it were the past, they [doctors] would have opened my heart, but now, that wasn’t the case. I’m ok. I’m healthy now.”

In the past, Kim Soo Hyun also left posts about his heart disease on his Cyworld mini homepage, writing ‘I used to get sick quite frequently. I also have arrhythmia and supraventricular tachycardia, so I need surgery.” Kim Soo Hyun had problems with his heart since middle school and has gone through surgery. Representatives stated that he is healthy now and that with medications and treatments, he should be fine.

It’s been announced that “The Moon that Embraces the Sun" child actress Kim Yoo Jung has been hospitalized. This morning, Kim Yoo Jung was scheduled to make an appearance at the "Converse Custom Studio Opening Ceremony" at the Converse Premium Store in Myungdong, Seoul. However, she had to cancel the last minute after collapsing.

According to a representative of Sidus HQ, “Kim Yoo Jung’s fever went past 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) and showed severe symptoms of the flu. Recently, she had her schedule packed with various shoots, and the immense workload must have weakened her body.”

I just let you know that the class of his uniform on his arm is Sergent, not Corporal. It should be 3 bars on the uniform but I just heard that this uniform is for the ceremony at Marines Corps. And they all usually wear this same Sergent uniform at the ceremony even though the Marines are not Sergent. Regardless of the uniform, he looks so awesome

Kim Yoo Jung reports feeling all better after ER visit

Young actress Kim Yoo Jung relayed news that she’s feeling better after having landed in the ER with a high fever.

Kim Yoo Jung tweeted on March 9th, “Everyone, I’m ok. Just fine! I was sick just for a little while. Got IV fluids and I’m all better. I am working hard in school too. I moved up in life from choding Yeon Woo to Joongding Yeon woo” and tagged a picture to the tweet. (Choding = slang for elementary school student. Joongding = slang for middle school student.)

In the picture, Kim Yoo Jung looks well and gathered in her school uniform as she looks at the camera. The school uniform with Kim Yoo Jung’s name on it draws attention.

Kim Yoo Jung was scheduled to appear in the opening event of a clothing line but due to a high fever, cancelled the schedule and was moved to the ER of a hospital in Ilsan.

Kim Yoo Jung’s management company Sidus HQ representative relayed, “The fever was over 40 degrees (40 degrees Centigrade roughly equals 104 degrees Fahrenheit) from severe cold and flu. It was because there were many things on the schedule including a photo shoot for a pictorial. It was the first time Kim Yoo Jung handled such a full scheduled so we believe that it took a toll on her.”
