Han Ga In Becomes Model for Soju Brand Wol

Han Ga In has emerged as a potential Lee Hyori rival by becoming a soju model.

On May 31, Bohae Brewery announced Han Ga In had becomes its official brand model for its soju line, Wol.

A Bohae representative said, “For Han Ga In who starred as the king’s bad fortune blocker, Wol, in last March’s MBC drama The Sun and the Moon, her healing and comforting image fit very well with our Wol soju’s concept of ‘healing’ and we decided to select her as our model.”


The representative added, “In the first-love memory-evoking Architecture 101 too, Han Ga In represented the beauty and maturity of women in their thirties. Her scene in which she has a drink with her counterpart and speaks candidly fits well with our image of ‘communication’.”

The representative said Han Ga In’s advertisements for the soju brand will highlight the natural warmth and emotions of the actress.

For the first time ever, actress Han Ga-in will become the face of Korean alcoholic beverage soju "Wol" which means "Moon" and is also the name of the female shaman character that Han played in the hit drama "The Sun and the Moon".

"We thought that Han's character possessed sort of a 'healing and consoling' characteristic that is in line with our beverage", said a representative from Bohae, the liquor company behind the line of soju.

Back in April, the actress whose popularity sky rocketed after the MBC drama said that due to her "pure" and benign image, that she was always typecast to play such roles and that she wanted to break away from such a public image of herself.

From ‘Yonsama’ Bae Yong Jun of 2003 to ‘Keun-chan’ Jang Keun Suk of 2012, there seems to be no end to the Korean wave flowing across Japan. What is it about Korean dramas that make Japanese women fall for them?

On May 7, News Post Seven, a Japanese media outlet, revealed the workings of the Korean wave in Japan under the title ‘Of the Gallant Experiences of Three Women Crazy for Korean Dramas’.

The article talks about a woman who has been into the Korean wave for 10 years, a woman who went from anti-Korean-wave to a Korean drama fan and another who almost broke off her marriage because she loved JYJ’s Park Yoo Chun so much.

The first woman, who is in her 40s, first got into the Korean wave through Winter Sonata, and continued to fall for Lee Byung Hun, Kwon Sang Woo and Song Seung Hun. She especially once couldn’t seem to tell the difference between the drama world and reality, as she thought as soon as she saw the film A Moment to Remember, that Jung Woo Sung would be the last man in her life. She started learning the Korean language because of her obsession, and has been attending a Korean language institute for five years.

The next woman, in her early 40s, confessed that she was part of the anti-Korean wave ideologies, saying she ‘didn’t know how people who fell for Korean dramas felt.’ While watching the Japanese version of You’re Beautiful, however, she came upon the Korean version, and fell in love with Jang Keun Suk. She didn’t stop there; there was no escaping the grasp of Korean dramas. While watching Mary Stayed Out All Night she fell in love with Kim Jae Wook, and while looking for more pieces starring Kim Jae Wook, she came upon Coffee Prince and so on and so forth.

The last female almost broke off her marriage because of the Korean wave. This woman, in her early 30s, said, ‘I was a fan of JYJ’s Park Yoo Chun, but I fell in love with him even more after watching the drama Sungkyunkwan Scandal. I was engaged to my husband back then, but because I loved Yoo Chun so much, I couldn’t think of getting married.’ Her story ended in a happy ending, however, as she added, ‘Thanks to my tolerant husband I was wed, and now I’m happy as Yoo Chun’s fan and also as a wife.’

“N” is supposed to have the same type of personality that Kim Soo Hyun’s character had on the KBS2 drama “Dream High.” “N” has a combination of both a soft and strong charisma.

Ha Ji Won to promote ‘As One’ in Los Angeles

Actress Ha Ji Won is flying to Los Angeles to promote her latest film ‘As One‘ (Korean title: ‘Korea‘).

‘As One’ opens with English subtitles in select theaters in New Jersey, Philadelphia, Illinois, and Canada on Friday, June 1.

The opening in Los Angeles is scheduled for Friday, June 8, but a special screening and press conference is being held on Tuesday, June 5. Ha Ji Won will make an appearance at the CGV Cinemas in Los Angeles for the event.

Currently, a promo event is being held on the Asian Movies n More Facebook page for a pair of VIP tickets for the special screening.

The reports of actress Han Ji Min having appeared in the Hongdae area are the latest buzz on the web.

Several netizens tweeted on June 1st under titles such as, ‘Han Ji Min appears in Hongdae’, ‘Han Ji Min is passing by a karaoke in Hongdae’, ‘Han Ji Min is filming what looks to be the Guerrilla Date on Entertainment Report‘, and so on.

Along with the story of Han Ji Min, the netizens also tweeted photos of her surrounded by hundreds of people trying to get a better look at her.

The photos show Han Ji Min fashioning a nude tone sleeveless top for a simple and clean look. Han Ji Min’s beautiful smile really lights up the photos and she looks just absolutely stunning in a sea of people.

Han Ji Min drew the attention of the viewers by confessing she’d been asked out by more than one male celebrity.

Having wrapped up the SBS drama ‘Rooftop Prince’ recently, actress Han Ji Min took part in an interview with KBS ‘Entertainment Report’ on June 2nd and answered many questions her fans were curious of.

During the interview Han Ji Min was asked, “Have there been more than one male celebrity who’ve asked you out?”, to which she simply answered “Yes.”

The reporter playfully tried to give her a false sense of security by saying, “I won’t ask any further questions”, but then Han Ji Min wittily replied, “I wasn’t going to answer anyways even if you asked”, and both of them laughed about it.

Han Ji Min also spoke about ‘Entertainment Report’s MC + actor Shin Hyun Joon, “He’s an actor that has given me the hardest time ever, but at the same token he’s even funnier than comedians.”

Fantasy dramas have not just taken over America, but South Korea as well. In recent years, producers were in a craze for body-swapping dramas. Now, it appears that the drama industry is completely infatuated and absorbed with time-traveling series. Whether it’s because of the looming apocalypse (that disaster will strike the planet on December 21, 2012, killing all life on earth), 2012 has been the year for time-traveling dramas. Maybe people seek solace in the fact that mankind may quite possibly avoid total destruction by bending time and space, although I’ve personally never thought about it that way. Hah! Or it could be that producers realized that they could capture both older and younger audiences if they mash sageuk and contemporary pieces together, creating several rather comical scenes where the time-traveling hero/heroine tries to learn and adapt to the ways of the place he/she is currently in.


The story revolves around Princess Puyeoju (Sung Yuri), the daughter of the last king of the Baekje who’s in love with a general named Ari (So Ji Sub). Another general from Silla, Kim Yoo Seok (Kim Nam Jin), is also in love with her, but only receives hate in return. In order to have her, he kills the princess’s lover. Devastated and cornered, she jumps off the cliff to kill herself – only to jump 1,400 years into the future, the then present 2003. Confused and scared, she meets Kang In Chul (Ari) and Fujiwara Tatsuji (Kim Yoo Seok) – both of whom have no idea of their past lives. The three find themselves in the middle of a love triangle…again…

In present day Seoul, they meet the reincarnation of the Crown Princess and decide that the doppelganger princess is the key to their return. Little do they know that his destined love (Han Ji Min) is the true answer to their prayers.

Too bad, he belatedly realized that she also had feelings for him in the past. Through a stroke of luck, he gets the chance to go back in time to make things right.

Choi Hee Jin (Yoo In Na) is an actress who currently stars in a sageuk (historical drama) as Queen In Hyun. Through coincidence, she runs into Kim Boong Do (Ji Hyun Woo), a Joseon era scholar who was in the midst of trying to restore the real Queen In Hyun to her position and power. The two fall in love that truly bends time and space with parties on both sides opposing their relationship. “Queen In Hyun’s Man” is fresh and funny, especially because Kim Boong Do understands and utilizes his ability to time hop to his advantage.

While stuck in the past, he meets a nobleman’s daughter who bears a striking resemblance to the girl he loves in 2012.
