Kim Soo Hyun fascinated the females viewers with a romantic kiss.

On May 7, Pigeon, a laundry soap brand, reported, “Kim Soo Hyun, the hero of MBC TV’s drama series The Moon Embracing the Sun, is now working for our brand as a model to attract female customers’ attention.”

Pigeon has chosen only female models, such as Kim Hye Soo and Soo Ae, so far. However, they tried a change by selecting a male celebrity as its new model this time. A new commercial of the brand under the title of “Kim Soo Hyun’s Silk Kiss” will start airing on May 7. In the commercial, Kim’s attracting attention with his fresh image, added to his existing bright, gentle image.

Some hugging and kissing scenes of Kim in the commercial especially captivate the viewers, along with the promise he makes as, “I’ll always protect you gently.” Baek Jin Cheol, a brand manager of Pigeon, says, “We chose Kim Soo Hyun as our new model because we thought he could represent the freshness and softness of our brand as an actor who is loved by women of all ages.”

People responded: “The kissing scene of Kim Soo Hyun is awesome,” “I envy the girl who kissed Kim Soo Hyun in the commercial,” “The kissing scene of Kim Soo Hyun is so romantic,” “I hope the girl who kissed Kim Soo Hyun is me,” “I’m jealous of the girl.”

Kim Soo Hyun gathered attention with his “silk kiss” advertisement.
Pigeon, a fabric softener company, selected Kim Soo Hyun as the first male model to celebrate its 35 years of history.



The ad’s concept shows Kim Soo Hyun as a man who protects a woman. Kim Soo Hyun acted out a scene of enjoying a pleasant day on the beach with the model Kim Soo Yeon. The ad sensuously expresses two models feeling love through the fabric softener’s scent.

Also, through their hugging scene and “silk kiss,” the ad tried to visually emphasize the softness of the product itself.

Pigeon marketing employee explained why the company chose Kim Soo Hyun as their model, “He is well-liked by many women of different age groups, and we thought he could represent Pigeon’s freshness and softness well.”

Hyun Bin is on break from military service

Hallyu actor Hyun Bin, who is currently undertaking his mandatory military service in the Marine Corps, has been released for a well-deserved 10-day break.

AM Entertainment confirmed on May 5 that its talent was indeed on holiday starting “from early this month.” The agency also said that it had no idea the star was on break until it scanned the news.

“We don’t usually let others know about breaks from the military. As far as we know, Hyun Bin is spending his time with friends and family until he returns to the Marines next week.”

Hyun Bin has been with the Marines since March last year and will be discharged this December.

Last year, as part of his duties, the Hallyu actor visited Indonesia to promote the Korean military, and even earlier in that year the Marine Corps made a promotional photo book capturing Hyun’s military life.

Lee Seung Gi and Ha Ji Won’s characters on MBC’s The King 2Hearts are engaged and the drama production has released preview still cuts of their engagement ceremony bonanza.

The preview still cuts were released ahead of the May 9 episode. The still cuts show Lee Seung Gi donning his red monarch attire and Ha Ji Won in a white dress and a tiara. The two are seen embracing each other amid a crowd of congratulators, and even shows Lee Seung Gi putting the engagement ring on Ha Ji Won’s finger in front of a crowd.



The scenes were shot on April 27 in Korea’s amusement park, Everland, near the city of Yongin in Gyeongi-do. The scenes were shot in front of over 10,000 people for the ‘engagement ceremony of the century’.

Despite the scenes being shot from nine in the morning for ten hours onwards, Lee Seung Gi and Ha Ji Won showed no signs of fatigue and the growing crowd was said to help lift the atmosphere to make it seem like a real festive engagement ceremony.

A source from the drama production said, “With this scene, the difficult romantic storyline between Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi will come to a beautiful closure. Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi looked truly happy [in the scenes] as though it was a real engagement ceremony. But please be in anticipation of Yoon Je Moon and what sort of unexpected actions he will take once more to try and destroy the two people’s happiness.”

The engagement ceremony will be seen during the upcoming fifteenth episode, set to air on May 9 on MBC.

Actress Han Ga In proved she honors her words.

Han Ga In made a guest appearance on SBS Power FM ‘Choi Hwa Jung’s Power Time’ on March 23rd and she made a promise that she’d come back as a guest if her movie ‘The Architecture Theory’ would surpass the 3 million mark in tickets sold.

Her movie broke the 3 million mark recently and it became the biggest box office hit for romance genre films in Korea. Han Ga In kept her promise and returned as a guest on May 8th.

Dubbed the ‘Big Special Power Time’, DJ Choi Hwa Jung started the show with this introduction, “The goddess of fidelity Han Ga In is here. Thank you for keeping the promise of 3 million.”

Han Ga In replied to Choi Hwa Jung’s kind introduction, “If I make a promise I keep it even if the sky splits in two. I questioned if it would be possible, but the movie broke the 3 million mark and I’m happy to return to the very popular show ‘Choi Hwa Jung’s Power Time.’

When asked about being on ‘Power Time’ again Han Ga In responded, “I wanted to keep the promise so my fans and I were waiting for this opportunity very badly. I texted Choi Hwa Jung unnie as soon as we hit 3 million. Something that I thought would be difficult became a reality.”

On this show Han Ga In conversed with the listeners about their problems and their stories, enjoying one fun-filled hour together. Han Ga In’s agency J One Plus Entertainment‘s representative stated, “We definitely think promises should be kept. We believe it’s a way of the leading lady of ‘The Architecture Theories’ to say thank you to those who’ve watched our film. Han Ga In was happy to oblige to return as guest.”

Actress Han Ga In joined the lineup of silly stars giving her beauty a score of 50%.

Han Ga In set out as a DJ for the day on May 8th, together with Choi Hwa Jung for SBS’s Power FM ‘Choi Hwa Jung’s Power Time’.

Last time on March 23rd, Han Ga In had made a commitment saying, “I will return if the movie ‘Architecture Theories’ draws more than 3 million moviegoers.”

On the day’s ‘Five Letter Talk’, as an answer to the question “My beauty score?”, Han Ga In answered “I give it 50%” and completely shocked the listeners. These days, it's hard to land on any channel that isn't playing something related to the "it" guy, Kim Soo-hyeon-I. This may be a drama, interview, variety show, or commercial.

After becoming a household name due to the hit drama "The Sun and the Moon", Kim has snagged 17 new endorsement deals. This tops even the record of figure skating queen and Korea's national darling, Kim Yuna. Kim Yuna had amazed the public for boasting 15 endorsement deals in 2009.

His deals include those for a fabric softener, laptop, outdoor goods, suits, cosmetics, sports products, ice cream, jelly, soft drinks, coffee, beer, camera, telecommunication, and pizza. In fact, he's the first male solo endorsement model for a very well-known fabric softener, following in the footsteps of previous models Kim Hye-soo and Soo-ae.

Speculators are saying that his deals sum up to an amount over 6 billion won. Most A-list celebrities are said to have endorsement deals worth about 300 million to 350 million won.

The interview of actress Ha Ji Won who plays the role of Kim Hang Ah on MBC’s ‘The King 2heart’ was featured on the drama’s homepage on the 10th.

During the interview Ha Ji Won spoke about the chemistry between her and her co-star actor Lee Seung Gi. Ha Ji Won stated, “The chemistry with Lee Seung Gi is much better as we get towards the second half of the drama. In the beginning there were lots of little mind games and such. Right now, however, they walk together heart and mind as one.”

Ha Ji Won added, “I cry just looking at Lee Seung Gi’s eyes during filming. Our chemistry is that good”, showing off their perfect couple chemistry.

As the most memorable scene of the ‘The King 2hearts’ Ha Ji Won picked the engagement party scene aired on May 9th and on the 10th. Ha Ji Won explained, “We filmed it in such a grand scale that it really was the ‘Engagement party scene of the century.’ A fan later told me it felt strange because it felt as though I was really getting engaged. The filming really stays in my mind because I have this memory with a fan as well.”

Five types of K-drama kissing scenes

(UPDATE) Korean dramas are never complete without the most-awaited kissing scene. It normally signals a big transition in the romantic lives of the main characters. No matter what genre—action, comedy, sageuk (historical) or romance—the all-important kissing scene is a staple in drama land.
Here's my attempt at classifying the types of kisses that will help us K-drama addicts identify our favorite lip-locking moments.


1. The Sweet Kiss
Let's start with the tamest of kissing scenes. The sweet kiss is often depicted as a gentle peck on the lips which lasts less than five seconds. This type of kiss is typical in high school dramas like "Boys over Flowers" and "Mischievous Kiss" because the characters are young. Some examples of sweet kisses include Jun Pyo (played by Lee Min Ho) and Jan Di's (Goo Hye Sun) "swing kiss" in "Boys over Flowers," the playful kisses between Baek Seung Jo (Kim Hyun Joong) and Oh Ha Ni (Jung Su Min) in "Mischievous Kiss" and the lovely kisses between King Lee Hwon and Queen Yeon Woo in the recently concluded historical romance, "The Moon that Embraces the Sun."


2. The Angry Kiss
In K-drama land, one of the best ways to shut up an angry (or nagging) woman is with an angry kiss. It occurs when the emotions of one or two of the main characters explode in a moment that culminates in a strong unexpected kiss. The angry kiss normally happens when jealousy rears its head.Who can forget the heat of Kim Joo Won's (Hyun Bin) jealous kiss with Gil Raim (Ha Ji Won) in "Secret Garden?" Another great example is the angry kiss Prince Lee Shin (Joo Ji Hoon) gave Princess Chae Kyung (Yoon Eun Hye) in "Princess Hours." Although not a big drama ratings hit, "Me Too, Flower" generated buzz when the angry kiss between Jae Hee (Yoon Shi Yoon) and Bong Sun (Lee Ji Ah) became a hot topic due to its intensity.


3. The Perplexing I-Don't-Know-What-Just-Happened Kiss
This is the kind of kiss that delivers romance and frustration in equal measure. It often happens when the key characters are still undecided about their feelings and the biological responses of their attraction take over their minds. Best exemplified by the sudden kiss exchanged by Hwang Te Kyung (Jang Geun Suk) and Go Minam/Minyu (Park Shin Hye) in "You're Beautiful," the I- don't-know-what-just-happened kiss surprises not just the characters but the viewers as well. Other great examples of this type of kiss is Jihoo and Jandi's kiss on the beach in "Boys over Flowers" and the surprising kiss between Han Gyul (Gong Yoo) and Eun Chan (Yoon Eun Hye) in "Coffee Prince."

4. The Hollywood Kiss

Kissing scenes in K-dramas are typically tame and light when compared to Hollywood kissing scenes. The Hollywood kiss is described as a more passionate moment when lips lock, mouths open slightly and—okay, okay, I'll say it!— tongue action happens. In the past, this type of passionate kissing was not seen in K-dramas. However, recent shows have moved away from conservative kissing scenes and provided viewers with nicely shot Hollywood-type kisses. Some examples include the passionate kiss between May-December couple Cha Chi Soo (Jung Il Woo) and Yang Eun Bi (Lee Chung Ah) in "Flower Boy Ramyun Shop" and the sexy kissing scenes of Jeon Jin Ho (Lee Min Ho) and Park Gae In (Son Ye Jin) in "Personal Taste." Of course, the kissing scenes between top stars Lee Byung Hun and Kim Tae Hee in "Iris" also fit this category.



5. The Concept Kiss

The concept kiss is a unique kissing scene popularized and later parodied (and probably imitated) by ordinary folk. The most popular concept kiss to date is the "foam kiss" in the fantasy drama "Secret Garden" when Kim Joo Won (Hyun Bin) wipes away the cappuccino foam from the upper lip of Gil Raim (Ha Ji Won) with his mouth. This scene became so popular that even Hallyu stars Big Bang parodied it. Other examples of cute concept kisses include the "cola kiss" between Hyun Ko Joon (Kang Ji Hwan) and Kong Ah Jung (Yoon Eun Hye) in "Lie to Me" and the "bike kiss" between Lee Yeon Jae (Kim Sun Ah) and Kang Ji Wook (Lee Dong Wook) in "Scent of a Woman."
