Now, this is a Finals series! Way more exciting and intense than last year's!
First off, hats off to ADMU for giving a very Big Fight in this year's finals. They, truly, are no pushovers anymore and one of the teams that other teams should watch out for.
Valdez, Valdez, tsk, tsk.. Pahirap!

Commendable performance from her in the Finals, so far.
For DLSU, CONGRATULATIONS on your win. Glad to see that the fire and the swag that made you sweep the elims (and the same thing that was missing from you girls during Finals Game 1) is back! One more win (hopefully on Wednesday) and the back-to-back is definitely yours!
Ara Galang and Mich Gumabao really proved why they deserved to win their ROY and Best Blocker awards, respectively. I hope Abi will explode on Wednesday to prove why she's the Season MVP. I know she can do it. I also hope that Mika Reyes will continue her stellar play. Cha will always be.. Cha

. Steady as ever.
Speaking of swag, the play of the game was, for me, definitely, the solid Mich block on Gervacio. It was an emphatic play and Mich really made sure that Gervacio, the rest of the ADMU girls and the ADMU community, supporters, fans and most especially FANTARDS knew about it.

It served its purpose which is to make that play stick in Gervacio's head and it showed in her performance in the ensuing plays. Ferrer tried to go to Gervacio in the next point for her "bawi" and even though she only had a single blocker to contend with, which was again Mich

, she was already intimidated with the previous block so she tried to go over the block but it was not a powerful attack so it was easily dug by DLSU. That time would have been the perfect time to hammer the ball in the middle of the DLSU court and for her to do her stare-down because it was against Mich, her previous-point tormentor.
Gervacio's long stare-down when she scored from a spike after that block was, in my opinion, somewhat a lame attempt to cover up her bruised ego. But the damage has been done. Dzi may not look like it but she was rattled at that time and her reception error of the Mika R. serve in the crucial part of the 3rd set is the clear evidence of that.
Even more, I think DLSU even got pumped up after that Gervacio stare-down because she actually stared down at Mika Reyes. Her spike went through the block of Mika R. and Ara and mishandled by the back row defense of Garbin. That point was NOT an emphatic point at all and that's the reason why I call the Gervacio stare-down a lame attempt at intimidation and "comeback". Sorry, others may interpret it as swag but her body language showed see she was not comfortable in it AT ALL. She should have done it to Mich a few points before, not to Mika R. because it only made Mika R. grittier. A few moments after that, Mika Reyes scored the Selected Play of the Game quick hit, with a stare-down at the Ho-Cainglet block and then when it was her time to serve, Mika R. had two great serves, the other one even off of Gervacio.
I absolutely love these types of games. For me, the Finals is not just about physical strength and which team has the more powerful spikes anymore. It's all about mental toughness and emotional preparedness, making the right choices in the right moments and who wants it more.
Go La Salle! Win Game 3 and you'll already Win It All!
