Just got home from the advance screening. The movie started a little boring but when we get to the sea and the aliens started to arrive, things picked up and while there are scenes where the visual effects were a little too much but overall it was an entertaining movie. GOOD thing it was not in 3D because I don't think 3D will work here and will just cause head aches haha. There are some cheesy stuff here but it works anyway. Kitsch is good in the role, he's more charismatic here than in John Carter. He had good chemistry with the actor who played Captain Nagata. Surprisingly, Rihanna was not that bad at all. Neeson's screen time was short.
And oh there's a post-credits scene setting up a sequel.

Saw it last night. It's your typical summer blockbuster. Nothing special. The story and the action sequences were reminiscent of other films like Transformers and Star Trek. [spoiler start]I couldn't help but compare Taylor Kitch's character Alex Hopper to Chris Pine's James Kirk, since they had basically the same story arc.[spoiler end]
Parts of the movie were genuinely funny, but most of the time the humor felt forced. At times we would laugh, not because of the jokes, but because the things that were happening were just over-the-top ridiculous.

This isn't a must see, but it's still somewhat enjoyable. Go watch it especially if you're into big CG action sequences and explosions, marami nun dito.

Thanks PEx & Nakura for the tickets! May libreng pizza pa.

We entered the cinema without expecting an awesome movie as the trailer did not convinced us to get excited to see it, but definitely the movie rocked the big screen from start to finish.

Five alien spacecrafts enters the earth landing in the sea where an international naval war game was held. Three ships were ordered to investigate the location where they landed. Soon they learned that the visitors were aliens then quickly sinks two ships, leaving one under the command of Alex Hopper (Taylor Kitch) who has been a headache in the force since day one. With a huge force field isolating them from other ships its up to Hopper and his crew to find a way to save the world from the alien invaders.

Actually there is nothing new about the overused alien invasion storyline but Battleship obviously took a huge step in making it a one of a hell movie. The effects were tremendously good from the battleships to the alien aircraft to the alien invaders that looked like characters from the game Front Mission 3. A nice set of cast provided an outstanding performance making the audience feel that were also in danger and the world depends on their hands. Another positive bit for this movie is the ending which is on a positive note unlike other films that will leave you hanging or drastically annoy you after. A good start for Battleship that ends into a spectacular finale. Full blast on the action scenes and a good mix up of humor at the side of it.

Taylor Kitch is such a revelation whether you like him or not he would stay put and make more movies. Just too bad that Liam Neeson was pushed back into a supporting role (Damn, we would like to see Liam Neeson kick an extra terrestrial ***). While Rihanna stepped up leaving a mark that she can also act specially in a bad *** soldier outfit. A lot of likable characters that you would start to care and cheer for.

Overall, Battleship gave a lot of tension, fun, excitement and awesomeness in an over two hour movie. We recommend this movie to everyone who wants to see a extravagant clash between aliens and humans.

I love the movie...there are scenes that are simply amusing..but overal the movie was great..its an enjoyable movie altogether ganda ng pagkakaput in ng CG at yung story was well good hindi pambata hindi rin pangmatanda...the thing that I like of the movie though was the fact na yung ending ng alien invasion was realistic na under overwhelming odds the human race prevail but its simply put na the 1st wave was a recon that if the main force arrive then too bad for the human race hehehehe

Enjoyed this movie a lot. 10/10. Super funny and for me, walang dull moments. ) Yung mga aliens, parang power rangers/shaider lang. ) Tas yung alien battleship, parang magiging voltes 5 any moment. =))

It's one of those movies that gets interesting just when you're about ready to leave the cinema.

I felt that the effects were so overworked. This movie had nothing new to offer. You've seen it all with the previously released alien invasion centered flicks.

I'd say it was a bit tense, and the cheesy dialogues were funny at times. I felt that the movie could have been shortened. It could have ended somewhere but the producers insisted there should be more blasting and exchange of ammunition.

Rihanna's quite a natural at acting. She can definitely improve.

    7.5/10
