while we are looking at the players of both teams, it is also interesting to see tomorrow what the coaches from both teams have prepared for the finals.

knowing coach ramil, he will surely show new varities of plays. blessed with talented players, he never fails to give us surprises game after game after game. question is... will they serve better? will the unforced errors be minimized?

coach roger has a tougher task to do. while trying to solve what went wrong in their last meeting with the lady spiker, he , too, has to design new plays that should surprise la salle's defense. he will heavily rely on his attackers knowing la salle's wall is hard to penetrate. question is... will the lady eagles deliver? will they come more prepared, physically and mentally?

good luck to both teams! i'll be wearing green tomorrow at the areana, though. :-D

I found a bit of history that's somewhat similar to the current Finals matchup. With that, allow me to share a little UAAP volleyball flashback:

When AdU, one of only two teams who haven't won a UAAP women's volleyball championship, made their first Finals appearance, it was also against the same team that ADMU, the other team who haven't won a UAAP women's volleyball title and now making their 1st Finals appearance, is up against now: DLSU.

In S68, DLSU, gunning for their 3rd consecutive women's volleyball title, and AdU, first time women's volleyball finalists, battled in a best-of-three Finals series. DLSU swept the series in 2 games, 3-0 and 3-1 respectively.

But, you may ask, why a best-of-three Finals series when the sweep rule was still in effect that year? It's because AdU was actually able to beat DLSU in the 1st Round of eliminations. This year is different because DLSU swept the eliminations.

When Dulce Pante was asked by Sev Sarmienta in S69, what were the shortcomings of their team in the Finals last year vs. DLSU, the AdU coach replied: 'We didn't have the nerves, poise and the championship experience to go up against DLSU that was full of experience and confidence."

In connection to this, my optimistic self predicts a DLSU victory in 2 games. My pessimistic self predicts a DLSU victory in 3 games. In this stage of the tournament, championship experience is a major factor in winning vs. first-time finalists.

Being in the finals for 4 consecutive years, DLSU definitely has the advantage in terms of experience and pressure but anything can happen. Hope DLSU will win the crown before Cha Cruz leaves the team.

You know my only question is what did La Salle do in their almost 2weeks break? I am not to be overconfident because too much rest can bring complacency. I just hope that La Salle have maximized it enough and really prepared well. Physically and mentally speaking.
