Tuwing Linggo at hindi na isang daily noontime show ang Game ‘N Go ng TV5. Mga host ng Game N Go sina Joey de Leon at Edu Manzano. Mga co-host naman sina Arnell Ignacio, Gelli de Belen at Shalani Soledad-Romulo.

Dahil once a week na lamang ang Game N Go, nabawasan ang mga co-host ng programa dahil nawala ang mga personality na ipinakilala sa grand presscon ng mga bagong show ng TV5 noong February 15, 2012.

Why?

Kasi, galing si Edu sa Game Ka Na Ba? at si Arnell Ignacio naman ay sa Gobingo na pinadapa noon ng teleserye ni juday.

Ngayon, pagsamahin mo ang Game Ka Na Ba at Gobingo at ang kinalabasan nga ay Game and Go.

Arnell Ignacio puts his game face back on


Arnell Ignacio is eager to expand his range as a performer, but he realizes that audiences have always associated him with game shows.

“Hindi na yata ako mawawala sa mga game shows. Sinubukan ko namang umarte sa TV at pelikula. Wala namang nakapansin!” he quips then bursts into laughter.

That is why the comedian couldn’t say no when he received the offer to join “Game ‘N’ Go”, TV5’s newest game show, which will premiere on June 17, 12:30pm.

“Mas tanggap nila ako sa mga ganitong shows. Nandito talaga ang forte ko kasi mabilis akong magsalita, magaling akong mang-okray na hindi naman nakaka-offend. Basta masaya raw ako sa mga game shows. Eh ito pa lang naman kasi ang offer kaya sige, let’s do it.”

It’s been a while since Arnell had a regular show on TV. There was a time when he was given the title “Game Show Master” because of his successful stints as host of the GMA programs “K! The 1 Million Videoke Challenge”, “GoBingo” and “Now Na!”

On June 17, expect him to return to form as he shares hosting chores with Edu Manzano, Gelli de Belen, Shalani Soledad and Joey de Leon on “Game ‘N’ Go”.

Although he has moved to another network, Arnell is pleased to be working with many familiar people.

“Most of the people behind the show ay nakatrabaho ko na sa iba’t ibang shows na kinabilangan ko. From the EP (executive producer), to the the writers at sa iba pang mga nasa show, kilala ko na sila kaya ‘yung working environment ko ay okey. Hindi ka na masyadong mag-a-adjust kasi kilala ka na rin nila kung paano ka magtrabaho,” he says.

The same familiarity applies with his co-hosts. “Ilang beses ko nang nakatrabaho sila Doods, Kuya Joey, at Gelli,” he says.

As for Shalani, it is in fact his first time to work with the famously demure former “Wil Time Bigtime” co-host but he says her husband, Pasig congressman Roman Romulo, is a long-time acquaintance.

“Nakakatuwa rin si Shalani. Akala mo tahimik lang pero she’s lots of fun. Sa show na ito nila makikita ang different side ni Shalani,” he shares.

Arnell admits he almost gave up on “Game ‘N’ Go” because it took quite a long time before it was fully conceptualized and have a final schedule for its pilot airing. The show was launched last March as part of the new programs of TV5.

“Na-bother lang naman ako kasi March pa nga ito ni-launch sa may NBC Tent, ‘di ba? Aba, Mayo na at wala pa akong nababalitaan about the show.

“Tapos may balitang nag-resign na si Doods sa show at pati na si Gelli. Yung original na sinabi kasi, noontime show siya. Tapos naging once-a-week na lang kaya iniba ang buong concept,” he recalls.

After all the delays, the show is ready at last. “Eventually, naayos din nila at nakapagsimula na kami. May airing date na kami kaya kampante na ako. Hindi na ako bothered. Wala na ‘yun stress ko sa paghihintay,” he explains.

Indeed, Arnell is ready to put his game face back on for “Game ‘N’ Go”. Nevertheless, he admits that the artist in him still craves to try other things.

Recently, Arnell tried acting in the indie film “Bola” that introduced a newcomer named Kenneth Salva. He took an acting workshop to prepare himself for the project.

“Sinubukan ko lang ‘yun, and okey naman. Gusto ko nga sana masundan para masulit naman ang binayad ko sa acting workshop. Kaso wala pang ibang offer,” he says, candid as ever.

“Gusto ko rin naman na gumawa ng ibang bagay na hindi pangkaraniwan na nakikita ng marami sa akin.”

Last May 6 during the grand finals of “Talentadong Pinoy”, Arnell, a graduate of the UP Conservatory of Music, showcased a rarely seen facet of himself when he played the piano to win the Celebrity Talentado title.

“Bihira kong gawin iyon talaga. Pero ang pag-play ng piano ang isa sa mga gusto kong gawin. Hopefully ma-explore ko pa ang talent kong ‘yan,” he says.
