the experience of FEU was manifested this time with their hard serves and combination plays. DLSU's blocking was still there but it wasnt as many as last time. FEU relied on Labrador to bring them to the finals for the third straight year.

FEU's crowd was visibly thin compared to DLSU's, pati yung cheerers wala. dont tell me its the problem of budget again.

Not to take anything away from La Salle's win last time, however, I'm afraid to say that it's the end of the line for them. FEU will claim the last finals berth on Wednesday.

FEU is just dying to crush UST in the finals. Ilang taon na silang umuuwing luhaan. At hindi 'yan nakakalimutan ni George Pascua.

Good luck to FEU on their game against UST. Like what I said on the thread of UST, it's FEU's championship to lose. But then again, I'm not going to discount UST out. Not yet anyway.

Anways, congrats FEU! Hopefully manalo na kayo sa UST!!!

    See you again on Saturday!

The call regarding Antonio was I think the illegal backrow attack of their setter, Santos. Kasi sinasabi ng DLS na bago mag-cross sa net yung bola na over set ni Santos, nagawan ng paraan ni Antonio via a power tip. I think the referee was right with his call na nauna naman talagang mag-cross yung bola sa net base na rin sa recorded tv coverage kanina. Kaloka yung last point kasi nung 4th set.

What La Salle did throughout the duration of the tournament is just awesome, to say the least. The determination that they showed in their match against FEU in Game 1 of the semis was just palpable.

Ok. I think except for one or two players, the rest of the team share the same body type -- lean and tall. This makes them jump very high -- Antonio in particular.

They have two lefties. I don't know any team in UAAP that has in its First 6 line-up two team members that are left-handed. The possibilities of combination attacks, because of this, seem endless. And they're harder to block because every time that they spike, the ball seems to be coming from a different angle.

They listen intently to their coach. And they execute the play very well.

They're young. They have many more years to stay in the UAAP. With the passing of the guard on both UST and FEU within the coming two years, I believe that La Salle is poised to take the championship in Season 76.

Why am I saying this? Before, Ilano was very skinny. When I saw him for the first time, I thought, "How can this guy play the middle blocker position?" Ok. Fast forward to two seasons after. UST won its third consecutive championships with Ilano playing big in the middle.

La Salle should be patient in training the boys because they have the potential to win the championship. With a former national coach at the helm, it is not impossible. I think what will matter in the coming years is the recruitment of high school stand-outs, literally that is. UST opts for the tall ones while FEU focuses on speed and counter-attacks. I hope La Salle will be able to recruit taller players -- 6" 3" or taller. This way, they'll both have the height and the smarts.

    And they're all good-looking too.

The team is just a joy to watch.

    @haseq

more importantly when it comes to recruitment of FEU MVT, they choose the ones that are not chosen by other coaches but who have potentials and are willing to undergo extreme training. take for example Pitrus De Ocampo, who orignally was not a designated setter when he was playing in the Visayas. Coach George just pushed him hard to become one which even lead him to think about quitting the team but look at De Ocampo now.

FEU MVT has one of the hardest training programs not just in the UAAP but in the entire collegiate volleyball, but its training pays off eventually.

actually, napansin ko na yan noong big games din ng FEU WVT wala man lang pep squad from FEU na nandoon. bihira lang.

masyado yata busy sa mga kakasali sa cheerdance competitions outside UAAP and nakalimutan na magcheer for FEU in UAAP events in 2nd sem

I think that was the controversial call nong latter part ng 4th set right?

I think refs got it right, kita sa replay na nasa FEU side na yung bola.

    @ylle45

just confirmed it from my source, wala nga daw budget na nilagay ang athletics for the drummers and boosters. too sad.

  13. #173
Iba pa rin talaga yung may "Finals" experience. Last Season, DLSU MVT also managed to force a rubber match against UST, but UST prevailed. And this season was also a replica of what happened last year, FEU nga lang ang nakalaban nila.

Wait, ami I wrong? Rubber match nga ba o 5-setter lang?

    kaya pala... sayang...

minsan nga naawa ako this season sa FEU WVT kapag nanood ako ng live. walang pep squad to support them, buti pa NU laging present mapa MVT or WVT.

Hmm correction. Di pa natatalo UST Tiger Spikers sa semifinals (with twice-to-beat advantage) since Season 70.

  16. #176
^ So mali nga ko. I stand corrected. 5-setter nga lang during the Semis against DLSU last year. Sorry.

true! i also find it weird
even ian and anton were a bit confused,
but anyway the call of refs stayed..
    it's FEU to face UST..

  18. #178
^ it became weird because of the refs calls however, i believe that the refs made the right calls hindi lang kaagad natawag especially yung last point ng FEU in the 4th set. ayun ang ikinagalit ni coach sammy and he even shouted at the officials after the game at take note patay na yung ilaw ng mga panahon na yun and his voice was really heard inside the arena.
