'Les Miserables' Competition: Taylor Swift, Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson & Evan Rachel Wood


Before they can get to producing one of the great dramatic stories of all time, the producers of "Les Miserables" are reportedly hosting one of the great casting dramas of recent memory.

Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper's big screen version of the musical, based on Victor Hugo's great book, is searching for an actress to play Eponine, and according to the NY Post, there are some big names going out for the role. Taylor Swift, Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson and Rachel Wood, the tabloid says, have all auditioned, with Michele supposedly "knocking it out of the park."

Eyebrows are undoubtedly raised at Swift's inclusion in the casting call; she has very limited acting experience, mostly limited to her part in "Valentine's Day" and her music videos.

The film already has a fantastic cast. Anne Hathaway will play Fantine, while Hugh Jackman takes on the role of Jean Valjean and Russell Crowe will play Inspector Javert. Eddie Redmayne has been cast as Marius, and Helena Bonham Carter tackles Madame Thenardier.

When asked earlier in the fall by the Huffington Post about tabloid reports on casting rumors, Jackman seemed uninterested in the issue.

"Nah, whatever. Obviously, I don't really read them," he said. "At the end of the day, what matters is when you made the movie. All the other stuff, it's kind of amazing how much public interest there is in deal making, the how a movie gets made, I find it interesting obviously, but if I wasn't in the business, all I'd care about is watching it."

Can't wait for this movie!! Sana ipalabas din siya dito sa atin this December, baka kasi madelay katulad ng ibang mga movies na huli na dito pinapalabas. If this movie project have been started about 15 years ago, Ms. Lea Salonga could have had a good chance to land the role of Eponine. Sayang.
