Also, trees and many other resources are also needed to make machines and infrastructure involving e-books. In which case, if trees go, much of industrialization will also go.

I own a Kindle and I must say people should give the device a chance.

Currently, the basic model costs only $80 and so far it has already saved me tons of money. The nature of my work requires me to read a lot of materials and used to spend around 400 pesos a week on photocopied readings. With a Kindle I just downloaded them on the net, placed them on my Kindle and I am able to read them wherever I go. Two months lang of use, bawi ko na yung ginastos ko.

Local publishers are apprehensive of making e-book versions of their books because of piracy issues. However that issue aside, I'm all in favor of using Kindles and publishers selling these books in pdf form at a fraction of the cost. It's a win-win situation for both. Readers would be able to get books anywhere between 50-100 pesos and publishers would be able to profit more since there would be more buyers.

I have a tablet and occasionally uses it for reading (e-books). I think it's pretty convenient when you're just reading something that's not an "academic/school-type-of-book". I especially like it whenever I travel and have to wait so many hours at the airport, or when I have a lot of spare time and multitask between chatting with friends, surfing the net, and reading since I can do it all in just one device. But it can be stressful to the eyes.

But between e-books and the traditional one, I prefer the traditional books. I only have like 5 "books" on my tablet and about 20+ traditional ones. Not that one is cheaper, or looks cooler or scholarly, or more convenient. But the simple act of turning the pages (and feeling it) is somehow a good feeling. (I hope the environmental advocates forgive me for this. But hey, we have books made from recycled paper.) =>

I prefer the "real" books more. Using e-books can be really eye-straining. Yes each has their own pros and cons, but nothing beats the real thing. The smell of a paperback book and a cup of coffee on your porch on a rainy day... perfect!

    My first post

Somehow I miss the smell of paper, but ebooks for me would be a better choice. I don't have to spend money on my favorite books like Dan Brown's. Information should be more accessible to everyone.
