Oh Adamson, they completely gave-up in the third set. It was very upsetting to see them crumble like that. It's just very unfortunate to see them lose key players at this stage of the competition.

Congratulations to UST. I saw the intensity they were lacking in the third set, although there weren't a lot of combination plays, and they still had a lot of errors. I'm pleased to see Judy coming to form just in the nick of time. I wish she was the player of the game.

That is dependent on whether who wins the game between La Salle and Ateneo tomorrow. If La Salle wins, the play-off will be on Monday, but if Ateneo wins, the play-off will be on Wednesday.

Adamson needs all the time they can get to recuperate.

Great win for the Tigresses! They had really awful service reception during the 1st and 2nd set which is why nakakadikit pa ang Adamson. It was a good thing that their service was great today, I specifically saw Jessey, Maika and Mela giving the Adamson floor defenders a hard time receiving.

I didn't like Maika's attacking game today, wrong timing lahat ng mga running attacks niya although she had one great quick attack. Maika has always been a great blocker in the middle but she struggles with blocking outside hits, and in this game the setter went mostly to Soriano and Guevarra and since they can't do running attacks, Maika was able to contain them. Her service was also terrific today.

Jessey can really give Mika Reyes a run for her money. This girl has a really high volleyball IQ and she has a good court sense. Ang ganda ng mga attacks niya kanina. Her blocking is really good because she has good lateral movement in blocking and can really read the ball well - that is her advantage over Mia. Wala pang masyadong power but from someone who didn't even know how to do quick attacks in high school, she is doing really well.

Maru was really sharp today. She was so focused which is why she played well. She was aggressive at the net and her attacking was terrific; she was able to adjust to bad sets and was able to score a lot of clean hits.

Mela played great as well. I see her as a Gervacio protege, the power is really there but she still has the tendency to hammer the ball into the block. The skills are there, all she needs to develop is maturity.

Gi also played well in the short time that she was fielded in. Not too flashy, nothing super strong but just finds the holes in the court. Skill-wise I think Mela has the edge, but what Gi has over Mela is maturity, a better volleyball IQ and "gulang".

Judy was very noteworthy today. I think she played her best game today. She was aggressive and she was really thinking today. Judy is finally settling in her position. Wala na iyong previous mentality niya na pag nagka-error papangit na ang laro; she has a come a long way and I'm really glad to see her stepping up.

I wasn't too impressed with Rhea's game today, but that could be blamed in part to UST's horrible reception. Haha! There is a positive though, her setting to Judy was better which is why Judy was able to score kills from the weak side.

Jamie's performance in the 1st and 2nd round reversed; her reception was good and her digging was weak during the 1st round but in the 2nd round her digging got better but her reception suffered. I hope she gets both going in the semi-finals.

I'm glad to see UST's bench playing well. With only Rhea graduating, I think we really have a bright future ahead, especially with Coach Odjie at the helm.

    Adamson:

It's unfortunate that two of their starting players got injured, because I really feel like they could have won the 1st two sets had May and Sheila been 100%. What they lost in Pineda wasn't only attacking but service and floor defense.

It was quite unfortunate how the 3rd set turned out for them. Pau got stuck in the bench for more about 3/4 of the time and Guevarra wasn't able to penetrate the de Leon block. Piza kept on going to the middle despite Guevarra getting shut down numerous times; the only time she goes to the open is when the reception is bad. Zapanta was stuck at the backline too; this is a double wammy since not only is Cortel an inferior attacker to her, Mayette is probably the worst floor defender in Adamson. They really lost their focus in the 3rd set which was highlighted by Zapanta's embarassing error.

Even Vasquez wasn't playing like her usual self today. Ang daming clean hits ng UST mapa hard spikes man o soft/drop.

I initially thought that FEU would be dehado coming into the playoffs but turns out, Adamson is looking like they might lose a spot in the final four. I am seriously hoping for an Adamson win though. I hope Sheila Pineda heals in time for the playoff.

I wonder what could have been the result if Macatuno was there and pineda played her 100%??

    Adamson will win:

If they get their combination plays going. Their floor defense alone will not win them this game against UST.

If they neutralize Ortiz in the middle.

If Zapanta finds a way to evade the blocking of UST.

    Key to win: Macatuno's setting.

    Prediction: UST in 4 sets.

Wrong prediction: UST in 3 sets.

Neutralization of Soriano in the middle -- Check
Contribution of Caballejo in the offense -- Check
Dimaculangan's setting -- Check (but average)
Macatuno's setting -- Absent (Minus for AdU; Plus for UST)
AdU's combination plays -- Non-existent because of the other setter (Minus for AdU; Plus for UST)
Neutralization of Ortiz in the middle -- No need; the ball was evenly distributed
Zapanta's evading the block -- Minus for Adu; Plus for UST)

Result: Total domination (even if the 2nd set score seems otherwise; to be fair, the 1st set was thrilling and very close.) UST was just too good today. BUT they could have been better.

Are they getting better? I think so.

Naawa ako sa Adamson. I was rooting for them pa naman

  13. #53
ang galing nang ust grabe natawa ako sa mga service ni lantin nung unya na taman si zapanta nung 2nd time ipa send out tapos in ayon na out rin . BAkit ganun ang ust ang bait ayaw nla tambakan ang kalaban nla kasi send out nla yung bola para may score yung adu tampos nangyari na yun nung nandun pa c ange tabaquero vs UE dba tambak din ang UE nun at pina send out nla coach yung bola ***** out of respect din nla yun sa team nla . NICE ONE UST

Congrats UST Tigresses for winning in 3 sets! Congrats coaches Odjie, Vilet and Ian for jumping out of the box. Congrats and a warm handshake to RHEA and to the rest of the team. That was teamwork! Despite some lapses, GO RHEA ! Kaya mo yan! Go USTe!
