    Waitlisted... Should I be worried?

I was really happy about getting waitlisted in Ateneo, because a week before the results were released, I was listed as not qualified in DLSU.

I'm still applying for UA&P and Benilde, just in case. But my family, and everyone else, think that I'm still getting in to Ateneo.

What are the chances that I won't be accepted to Ateneo with my waitlisted status? Also, does waitlisted mean that I didn't qualify for any of my selected courses?

Before the ACET results were released, I prayed to God, with all sincerity, for the first time, to give me hope. He gave me a waitlisted status in Ateneo.

Hmm.. AFAIK, being waitlisted means that you got accepted but you did not qualify to the courses you chose in your application. In order to upgrade your status from being waitlisted to being accepted, you have to write a letter to the OAA, addressed to the Director saying why should you be accepted to the Ateneo and in that particular course that you really want. Please make sure to make it the best letter you can to convince the people at OAA to give your application a second hard look.

I maybe wrong with the process though.

I'm not sure with your first claim, because I've heard so many instances where people got into their 1st choice even if they were waitlisted.

I'm currently writing a letter to them.

^It actually means that you're qualified but there are no more slots left for your choice of program. The only way to get in is for you to pray that the accepted people in your program will enroll in another university or in another program so that you'll be the one accommodated next

It depends on the course. In what course are you waitlisted?

COMTECH. But it doesn't actually cite the course, it just tells me I'm waitlisted. Also, I hear a lot of people get in the course they were waitlisted in.

You will never know what course you got waitlisted upon. Because technically, you made it to Ateneo but you have no course yet.

You have a good chance of getting in.

Best advice is to write a letter of appeal, make it a bit dramatic, but not too dramatic.

Basically, what happens is that the choice of course you get into is basically out of your hands, nonetheless, you can shift into the course of your choice, just excel in the general subjects in first year so you can shift into SOM if the case may be.

    TARAAAAAAAYYY!!!

Kidding aside, the fact remains that many of the ACET passers enroll in another university because of various reasons, more often than not financial capability, so they opt for schools with lower fees. The fact also remains that many waitlisted applicants get into Ateneo, but many get accepted in either their second, third or fourth course choice (you select 4 courses in your Ateneo application form).

Since you already passed the ACET/accepted (but waitlisted), all you can do now is wait and pray that a slot opens up; and yeah, work on that letter to appeal your case. Best of luck to you, and hope to see you in Ateneo next year!

When and how will we know if we got accepted from being waitlisted?

Someone from OAA will call you. Well that's what happened in my case before. Best of luck!

Hey. I got waitlisted too for this batch. What exactly does it mean? Will I still get into AdMU? And I wonder if I got into my other choices of courses too, because if I did not pass any of my courses shouldn't I get an 'academic displacement' or something?

  19. #19
Does 'waitlisted' mean all the courses I chose got already filled or is it just my first choice? But some fail their first choice thus they're brought to their second choice. Does it mean I passed my first choice and waiting or the slots already got filled in all my choices?
