As previously posted by someone here I though DLSU came more prepared for the game. Kudos to Coach Ramil. I thought there was a time in the game that Coach Odjie called a timeout with DLSU leading at 15-13. I thought he should have waited for the technical timeout as to save his timeouts. Also I thought he called his timeouts after DLSU was stringing points together. Timeouts are effective when used to either stop the opponents momentum and to give your team enough time for instructions and rest. Again, this is just my opinion.

i just would like to mention in one of ust's timeouts, coach odjie told his girls "isang receive lang... isang patay lang... papasok si maru si harap". obviously, he meant makakapuntos tayo pag nasa harap si maru. but this somehow shows non confidence to the others, specifically the ones in front during that rotation. is i were pam or midori, i won't feel motivated to score. as a coach, i think you should believe in your players, and in every rotation you have. and in this game, it proved that relying heavily on maru didn't work. just my two cents.

Watching this game made me realize why DLSU has been winning... they are not overly-reliant on a single player. UST relies to much on Banaticla, Ateneo relies too much on Cainglet and Valdez etc. Kapag masama ang laro ng main man, bumabagsak na ang laro ng iba.

With DLSU, every player on court can be trusted to score the points, so when the veterans aren't doing so well in terms of scoring (like Marano yesterday), someone else picks up the slack. Ang hirap depensahan! Bantayan man si Cruz at Marano, may Gumabao at Galang ka pa. And Mika Reyes is showing some promise in scoring pa.

And one more thing: even if a player has a bad scoring game, binabawi naman sa depensa. Abi was excellent in her floor defense and blocking as usual.

I was hoping for 4 sets kahapon.. kasi sayang naman *** pinunta ko kung 3 sets lang.. sa UST squad ngayon, si Banaticla lang *** nakikita kong fighter.. ang kaso siya lang ang fight ng fight kaya siya na lang binabantayan.. gusto ko siya as a player kasi matapang pero nakakaawa rin siya kasi kita mong yung frustration sa part niya..

Ortiz really needs to step up.. ate, 4th year ka na.. 5'11 height mo.. malakas kang pumalo.. pero nasaan ang gulang? W-A-L-A.. puro cross court lang nagagawa mo sa running mo.. e nababantayan na kaya.. un ang lamang sayo ni Marano.. pwede namang tapik tapik lang sa walang tao.. gamitin ang UTAK.. alam kong kaya mo yan..

I'm pro UST this year kasi ayoko sa Ateneo na makalaban ng DLSU sa Finals.. I suggest, baka pwede namang gawing utility si Maru.. hindi siya masyadong nababantayan dun e.. tapos ibalik sa open si Judy.. kay Mia naman.. wag ma-rattle.. ang laki na ng inimprove mo teh.. so patunayan mo un.. wag nang balikan *** last year..



as for the Lady Spikers..

you're playing as a team.. yun ang lamang niyo sa ibang teams..

Ara Galang - deadly serves! my gulay! I think mas effective kang pumalo sa gitna at sa kwatro kesa sa open.. iba *** tusok ng bola e.. at ang floor defense mo panalo! I bet na part ka pa din ng 1st 6 next season.. with Camille Cruz I guess..

Mika Reyes - ikaw na ang naka-ibabaw sa bola at sa blockers! more practice pa para sa lakas ng palo, then pwede ka ng tumapat kay dindin.. battle of the 6 footer pala next year..

Melissa Gohing - big improvement sa floor defense! grabe lang! #2 ka na ngayon sa receiving! at hindi ko na nakikita *** pangalan mo na kinakainisan ng mga tao sa forum kasi ang galing mo this year..

Mika Esperanza - better service.. di bale ng hindi maka ace, basta pumasok.. ganda ng ball distribution mo kahapon.. mahirap basahin.. un nga lang, ang dalang mong setan si Abi.. kaya konti lang points niya..

Michele Gumabao - ganda ng serve mo.. at ang blocking! hindi makapasok mga palo ni Maru.. tuloy tuloy lang.. si Valdez at Cainglet na *** susunod..

Abi Marano - simula nung nag step up offensively si Cha, hindi nga ganun karami puntos mo.. bihira na ako makakita ng running attacks mo na malinis.. hope to see more come DLSU ADMU game..

Cha Cruz - wala na akong ma-say na hindi maganda.. though, may mga misreceives ka kahapon.. actually madami.. pero ok lang.. maganda ka pa din.. ganda ng mga palo mo.. pero sana ulitin mo *** running spike mo na muntik ng makalas si Lazaro..

Coach Ramil - please ipasok mo naman si Tiu.. kahit mag serve man lang.. huhuhuhu

I was actually intrigued why They seem to shun Tiu from the public's eyes, perhaps, for her not to be scouted.
I have been hearing great comments about her specially when she played in the PVF.

However, I observed that during the spiking practice yesterday (before their match with UST), she doesn't live up with the hype.
(I am just basing it on their spiking practice)

I don't know if it is part of their strategy na “bigla nalang manggugulat yan kapag pinasok” like what Camille Cruz did. But on her three attempts yesterday, she lacks the power and angle.

Tan has meaner and sharper hits, and even Cerveza.

One thing is sure: she's damn pretty

I hope that when Coach Ramil picks her from the bench,
she'll prove my observation wrong.

Nag self-destruct ang UST kahapon.

They were able to somehow make the 1st 2 sets close but in the 3rd set, it was chaos in the UST side..and if luck was really something, it was then exactly that the Lady Spikers' sevice was at full swing. Wala na ata silang service errors nung 3rd set? Unlike nung 1st set na they committed 8. Grabe kala ko nga replay ng 1st round yung mangyayari (talk bout service errors).

Defense was, and IS the key. Nahirapan talaga si Maru, Maika and Judy kahapon sa blockings ng La Salle. Maika was so frustrated na. Gigil na gigil na siya sa bola especially when one of her powerful hits was dug up well by Ara Galang.

I dont know but UST's reception quite looked good naman but not until papaluin na talaga yung bola. I dont wanna pinpoint anyone from the team kung sino talaga may mali since they were all scrambling...

But anyway, tama nga ang prediction ko. Kapag maganda gising ng La Salle, 3 sets lang yan.

But if it's really because Coach Ramil thinks Galang is better than her, then why hasn't she been fielded in, not even once, just so she could gain experience,and help the team in the future. She's the only DLSU player left who hasn't even stepped on the court during the actual matches. I respect Coach Ramil and I'm sure he knows what's best for the team, but I still don't get why.
Even si Bella Lepping when she was still part of the DLSU lineup was given a chance to play in a game. Haaay ilang games nalang natira sa 2nd round. Please Coach, let her play kahit ilang seconds lang.

I agree with the lack of leadership. Maru is not that vocal, I can choose Maika to take over. Problem is, just like what you've said, walang authoritative guidance, hawa-hawa na ang buong team. Maika was silenced..and so as Maru. Si Judy lang nakita kong lumalaban hanggang sa huli. But ofcourse, you cannot win with a single person carrying the loads. Carmela Tunay did well also. But im just curious why Gi Reyes was not in the 1st6. Sure that was coach Odjie's call, but my opinion is, making some experiments in this time of season might be risky.

as for Ara Galang, glad she's stepping up to the challenge. Despite of some lapses in spiking, Mika Esperanza is giving her touches of that ball. No choice naman,eh. In this La salle team, everyone should contribute..and Ara is responding well, especially now that there's no Camille Cruz to sub for her. Go get that ROY.
