I am seeing de Lima more as a senator in 2013 and a President in either 2016 or 2022.

The nominees, actually, are chosen by the JBC, the Judicial and Bar Council composed of a rep from IBP; a law prof; SC retired justice etc. Katakot-takot na tanungan din doon. Baka di siya maka-lusot.

I doubt and I don't think so. The result of this impeachment seems to be very predictable now with the way the proceeding goes, and noting that prosecutors themselves admitted errors in their complaint.

De Lima doesn't deserved to be a SC Justice much more the Chief Justice. SHe does not even obey the orders and decision of the Supreme Court. She acted based on a dissenting opinion and not the majority decision. Baka magkalat lang yan sa SC.

There are at least two friends of Justice Secretary Leila De Lima who believe that Chief Justice Renato Corona may be convicted in the impeachment trial.

Otherwise, they would not push for her appointment as the new Chief Justice.

There is no law that prevents the President from appointing an outsider as Head Magistrate.

Given the chance, De Lima won’t say no to chief justice post

Justice Secretary Leila De Lima wouldn’t say no to being chief justice, she said Friday when asked if she would accept the post in case President Benigno Aquino III appoints her.

“I don’t rule out anything. Ayaw ko namang sabihin na kahit ngayon inominate ako ay ayaw ko,” the Justice secretary said.

“I actually defer to the wishes of the President… Kung gusto niya na tanggapin ko iyon, tanggapin ko. Kung kinoconsider niya ako then I respect that,” De Lima noted.
