Garnett set to return to Celtics
Kevin Garnett is staying with the Celtics. The Herald has learned this morning that Garnett has informed the club he will be back.
The 36-year-old considered retirement, but ultimately decided to return for an 18th NBA season — and more.
According to an NBA source and a source close to Garnett, the sides are working out the details of a deal that will be for at least two years and could possibly include a third.
“The decision came down to whether KG wanted to keep playing,” said one source. “And once he decided that he did, it was going to be Boston. He wasn’t going to leave Doc (Rivers) and those guys and play anywhere else.”
Concerns about the mileage on his body were alleviated when Garnett’s numbers improved dramatically during these last playoffs and indeed down the stretch of the regular season. The increases roughly coincided with his move from power forward to center, where he was able outmaneuver bigger centers and pull them out to the perimeter while taking smaller opponents inside and scoring over them.
“Kevin was absolutely great this season, and he just wants to keep going,” said a source. “And when you look at how he was playing, there’s no reason for him to stop.”

^Wooohoooo! The Big Ticket is coming back! Good Luck to Sully & Fab Melo..hehe
^11.3 for 3 years? Damn! I love KG but I think it's a bad deal especially for the future of the Cs.
As for signing Green, I don't have any problem with it anymore especially now that the free agency for wing players are kinda weak. As long as the contract is cheap, I'm good with it.
34 mil for 3yrs, almost 11 mil per year down from 21 mil he got last year. Discount.
Now how much cap space do we still have?
Ngayon ko lang nakita to.
KG will surely take Sully under his wing. I'm excited!![]()
Good for the Celtics. At least there will still be stiff competition for the Heat in the East (considering the Bulls will have little-to-almost-nil DRose next season). And I think KG's return will also be reason enough for R.Allen to stay (barring DA will not sign him just to "eff" / trade him along the way).
More or less 16 million still available cap space.
Use that to retain Ray Allen,Jeff Green then do a sign and trade for Bass.

Rumors that the C's are pursuing OJ Mayo. I'd rather sign Ray and Jeff Green first.
May 1M qualifying offer na ata for Stiemsma.
Ok yang Mayo deal, even if we lose either Allen or Bass (not both though). Best iprioritize nila si Green.
I don't get the hype about Jeff Green. He was given as much burn when he was in OKC and he proved he wasn't that good. I'd rather have Bass and Garnett in my front line.
Garnett is good but that contract is too long. He is already 36 guys. Thinking an 8 million 2-year contract should've been acceptable for him if he really wants to win.
Told ya, it will start everything if KG signs or not.
We are not in the rebuilding phase, we are RETOOLING, with DRose gone for the season, the contenders for the Miami's EC Championship, narrowed to 3 teams. Indiana, NYK and ofcourse, Boston.
KG's 34m/3yrs contract means roughly 11.3M a year. After KG's signing we have almost 44m worth of contracts. If the salary cap is 58M that's 14m for us to get a quality player.
I think with OKC he was played out of position since he was going to be redundant with Durant's plus the fact that they don't run a lot of set plays. I dunno, but 15-16 PPG average playing as a 3rd option scorer (playing out of position) sounds good to me.
I feel his skillset blends better with a Boston type offense, particularly with Rondo. He can also run with Rondo's offensive pace. If all went well last year, just imagine the Celtics' transition play with Rondo, Bradley, Wilcox and Green running the floor.
Besides, they really need someone to rotate with Pierce, and Green can thrive in that position. Pierce's minutes need to be drastically reduced.
KG's deal is fine for now, but it could hurt us in the long run.
But let's look on the brighter side, him signing only means that Danny Ainge assured him that a title shot is within reach for the coming season. It all boils down to free agency and the right trades.
Hmm, interesting.Gary Tanguay: 98% chance Ray Allen is gone. No love between he and Rondo at all
