    Are you highly sensitive?

Are you or is someone you know always labeled as emo, weak, fragile, pikon, iyakin, balat sibuyas, antisocial, weirdo, and even praneng, bipolar, borderline, etc?

Are you uncomfortable around harsh, insensitive, immature, and obnoxious people?

I did some research on this and I'm surprised. It's like reading the description of myself. I think it's better to just give out the links.

Some factors like traumatic experiences and style of discipline a person grew up with might change how highly sensitive people relate to some of the points laid out on the articles. Here are some of the important parts:

    What is an HSP?

The immediate thing that comes to mind when people hear the term "sensitive" is that someone gets their feelings hurt really easily. Whereas this kind of emotional sensitivity can certainly be a part of being an HSP, it is by no means what "defines" the trait.

Sensitivity varies considerably from person to person, and manifests in different ways. Indeed, getting one's feelings hurt easily can be one part of the picture. But there is much more.

HSPs are often very sensitive to pain, and often respond to much lower doses of medications than most people.

They tend to be easily startled, and often overwhelmed by loud sensory inputs.

They tend to be cautious and highly conscientious.

They are easily shaken up and distressed by changes, and don't do well in "multitasking" situations.

They are often negatively affected by loud noises, strong scents and smells, or bright lights.

They tend to be "cooperative," rather than "competitive."

They get easily rattled in stressful situations.

They are often deeply empathic and frequently "pick up moods" from other people.

Even when extraverted, they tend to be introspective, have rich inner lives, and need a lot of time alone.

HSPs also are disproportionately drawn to the arts and music, and tend to be very easily moved to tears by expressions of beauty and intensity, as well as images of horror and violence.

What is not necessarily an HSP?

An HSP is not, by definition, "an introvert."
An HSP is not "a shy person."
An HSP is not "socially anxious."
An HSP is not "superior," in some way
An HSP is not, by definition, "neurotic."
HSP is not a synonym for "nice person" or "milquetoast."

I'm HIGHLY SENSIBLE, not highly sensitive. I take no offense where there is no offense meant.

^^ kabaligtaran ako nito. affected ako lagi sa negative, wrong perception or twisted non-sense rumor sa akin ng ibang tao. With my family- i tend to be insensitive. pero yung views ng family ko sa akin- na di maayos- i really shrug it off -para bang feeling ko -nasanay nako. pero kung relatives naman-affected ako.

^^ likewise. ako din sensitive-kapag feeling ko ako yung pinag-uusapan. Or asar sa kin, or user-friendly. Or plastic.

-tapos na-seseperate ko agad yung genuinely "nice" sa hinde.

I am perceptive of the sensitivities of the people I care about, but I am an island most of the time.

Well, they are the only ones that I care about in this world. I have this notion that people/pets I love the most are the ones that can hurt me the most.

    - sensitive ako when i see a character in a movie/tv tapos relate na relate ako dun sa scene na namomroblema siya. I CRY.

    - pero di ako iyakin when it is literally a tearjerker scene, or movies/tv series.

    - sensitive ako- and i CRY if there is a line in tv/radio/movies that i hear tapos nakaka-relate ako.

    - i don't normally CRY in front of friends/CROWD. i'm the emotional blanket/comforter of friends. even if telling my sob stories-i don't cry. garalgal nga lang ako magkuwento or talagang mararamdaman mo na dinadamdam ko siya.

    - i CRY if stressed out or angry w/ a family member or friends. Or CRY ALONE in my room-when stressed out(from work/other people).

I am not sure but the following applies to me:

They tend to be cautious and highly conscientious
hey are often negatively affected by loud noises, strong scents and smells, or bright lights.

They tend to be "cooperative," rather than "competitive."

They get easily rattled in stressful situations. (well i do get rattled but not easily)

They are often deeply empathic and frequently "pick up moods" from other people. (but not to the point that i get too emotional maybe if I'm PMSing)

Even when extraverted, they tend to be introspective, have rich inner lives, and need a lot of time alone. (yes, i tend to be a loner, i love being alone rather be wit people i don't want to be around with)

HSPs also are disproportionately drawn to the arts and music, and tend to be very easily moved to tears by expressions of beauty and intensity, as well as images of horror and violence. (so true, that why I'm into Make up artistry and playing drums)

Addition to this: I can smell trouble from afar.. you cannot easily deceive me..Im smarter than i appear to be.. and most specially, I am very loyal to those who are sincere and gunuiene. Is that part of being highly sensitive? would love to know!

    1. You, your partner, or someone important to you have a heightened awareness of subtleties in your environment, whether it's sight, sound, touch, taste, or smell.

    2. You can become stressed out and upset when overwhelmed and may find it necessary to get away, maybe into a darkened room, to seek solitude, relief and comfort.

    3. You are very creative.

    4. You are very conscientious, hard working, and meticulous, but may become uncomfortable and less efficient or productive when being watched or scrutinized.

    5. You feel compelled to file and organize things and thoughts, also enjoy simplicity and may become overwhelmed or even immobilized by chaos, clutter, or stress.

    6. You are very uncomfortable when feeling things are getting out of your control.

    7. You get a sense of comfort and well being when around a lake, river, stream, the ocean, or even a fountain.

    8. You may experience mood swings, sometimes occurring almost instantly and can also be affected by other people's moods, emotions and problems.

    9. You have a deep, rich, inner life, are very spiritual, and may also have vivid/s.

    10. You are very intuitive and you feel that you can usually sense if someone isn't telling the truth or if something else is wrong.

    11. You get concerned and think or worry about many things, and have also been told "you take things too personally."

    12. You have had the experience of "cutting people out" of your life.

    13. You were considered quiet, introverted, timid, or shy as a child.

    14. Here are a few more to consider... Can be startled easily.

    15. Cautious in new situations.

    16. May have trouble sleeping.

    17. Extra sensitive to pain.

    18. Don't like crowds (unless they are kindred spirits).

    19. Avoids violent movies and TV shows.

    20. Has a deep respect and appreciation of nature, music and art.

Abraham Lincoln....Carl Jung....Dr. Pat Allen....Princess Diana. They are all HSP! (Highly Sensitive Persons) And, they'd also all probably qualify as Dr. Pat Allen's "Alphas" — those people who have an on going tug-of-war between their head and their heart, individuals who are in touch with both their Masculine and Feminine Energies.

    kaya pala.
