MANILA, Philippines -- Heading into his newest leading man role, actor Matteo Guidicelli prepared extensively to give justice to his latest on-screen persona.

In "Precious Hearts Romances: Isla," Guidicelli will portray Brennan, a married businessman who gets stranded on an island with a perfect stranger after getting shipwrecked.

"I'm the youngest of a business family, a rich business family. May asawa na ako, ang asawa ko dito si Megan (Jewel Mische), tapos parang may ship-wreck kami, tapos magkikita naman kami ni Yani (Jessy Mendiola)," Guidicelli told ABS-CBN News Monday.

Romance blooms between Yani and Brennan on the island, setting off a series of twists and conflicts among its principal characters.

Since a bulk of the show's story will be set on an island -- the cast will be shooting in Caramoan Islands in Camarines Sur -- Guidicelli said he prepared himself physically for the sexy scenes expected of a "Precious Hearts Romances" series.

"I really prepared for this soap. I knew about this three months ago. Pinaghandaan talaga namin po. Me, I really had to get dark for the soap dahil isla 'diba. So I got dark, I lost weight, I got a new haircut, so talagang new character, new look talaga 'to," Guidicelli said.

"Marami pa nga akong preparations for the soap. I got a new sport to get my body really lean for this soap -- triathlon. And nag-a-undergo kami ng maraming, maraming workshops, ginagawang mga immersons. That's why I'm really excited and I'm ready for this soap," he added.

Joining Guidicelli and Mendiola in "Precious Hearts Romances: Isla" are actor Matt Evans, who will play Justin, Yani's bestfriend; and actress Jewel Mische, who will portray Megan, Justin's dedicated wife.

Isla" is scheduled to start filming next week, according to Guidicelli, and is slated for a release later this year.

It is directed by Nico Hernandez and Connie Macatuno.

“Nagha-hi, hello kami sa ASAP. Nag-uusap kami, nag-aasaran, pero we didn’t get the chance to work together pa.

“Gusto ko yung professionalism niya saka yung pagiging patient niya sa trabaho namin.

“Sa workshop, sa photo shoot namin, nakakabilib.

"I mean, we all know that Matteo came from a nice family. He was well brought up, talagang mayaman sila, may kaya.

"But inspite of that, nakapaka-humble niya. Wala siyang mean bone.

"Sobrang mapa-smile lang siya sa lahat ng tao, positive lang siya.

“'Pag kasama mo siya, parang normal lang siyang tao. Hindi mo mararamdaman na may yabang.



“I’m very excited to work with him kasi mahilig siyang matuto. Open siya sa lahat ng suggestions ng lahat ng mga tao.

“Yung working habits ng iba ina-adapt niya rin. I guess, kaya niya yun.”
