More Fun sana in the Philippines kung tayo mismong mg Pinoy mapasyalan ang mga tourist spots natin. Ang kaso mas mura pa ang airfare papuntang Hong Kong kesa pupuntang Boracay! Meron pa, sample na rin Airfare to Batanes, juice koh nasa 9k ata! Eh pano natin ma aapreciate yung sariling atin kung di naman affordable para sa mga locals. Ang hamon ko sa DOT, isang programa para sa ating mga local tourists. Wag nyo lang e focus ang attention nyo sa mga foreigners. Cheaper arifare and cheaper hotel rates for us.

DOT issues advisory warning of scammers

The public is warned of individuals trying to solicit funds or other favors using the Secretary of Tourism’s name, his office, or any office of the Department of Tourism (DOT) and its attached agencies.

During the past few months, DOT has been receiving reports of individuals impersonating the Secretary of Tourism to seek financial aid for government projects or to offer assistance to fast-track procedures or implementation of projects in exchange for monetary reward.

The scammers would call or text their intended victims, who are then directed to deposit requested amounts in a personal bank account.

The DOT is requesting those contacted by these malefactors to report such incidents to the DOT through the office of Atty. Maria Victoria V. Jasmin, Undersecretary for Tourism Regulation, Coordination, and Resource Generation at 523-8411 local 196 or 177.

Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa, Jr. is also among the government officials impersonated by these scammers. Following the reports, Executive Secretary Ochoa directed law enforcement authorities to investigate, capture, and charge those behind these crimes. A recent investigation led to the arrest of one group, now in the custody of the Philippine National Police. — Department of Tourism (DOT) Public Advisory
