What started as one whimsical ad, shared privately, blossomed into an album, now shared publicly. Best efforts, I sought permission and cited sources for the photos, none of which are mine. ^^ ano ibig sabihin ng ebullient? LOL! pwede kayang "philippines -- more asia than malaysia"?

seriously, as long it appeals to foreigners, then go for gold! sila naman talaga ang target audience

hindi pwede. kasi ang pilipinas hindi masyadong asian in culture. yung mexico kasi slogan nila dati is: "mexico: experience europe in america". baka pwede rin satin yung slogan: "philippines: experience latin america in asia".

main concern ko lang re: the gov't promoting Philippine tourism with this slogan is if we are really ready. Yes, we have the provinces and the nature, etc. But can we meet the requests of the tourists? Basic stuff lang, cleanliness in the CR of the airport, safety sa streets, easy accessibility of transportation, affordable prices, no bribery in the customs and immigration in the airport, etc?

Also, even if we can attract 1 billion tourists in a year, can the Immigration guarantee that no tourists will overstay and won't add as an additional contribution to the overpopulation problem of the Philippines?

Kasi naman, kahit gaano kadaming tourists pa ang makapunta sa Pilipinas, kung lahat sila ay meron masabing masama regarding Philippines, mas nakakahiya.

DOT makes sure that it's coordinating with all gov't agencies (BID, BOC, DOTC, etc) para maging successful ang slogan. Kapag hindi, nako, baka ang maging slogan ay
"It's NOT fun in the Philippines".

check the number of tourist arrivals from the time of launching, 2001, till end of GMA's term (2010). check whether there is a significant improvement in the number of arrivals then tell us if it's effective or not. #DoResearch

i have a problem with ads like these... Ballooning isnt really that big here, and AFAIK theres only 1 event that does that every year in Clark (there could be a few more, im not sure)

IMO, Its bordering on FALSE ADVERTISING...
and another thing, i find the tagline "MORE FUN" na medyo mayabang and "mahangin" (ironically, a typical pinoy trait )

If you say its "MORE FUN", you're saying OTHER COUNTRIES are LESS FUN or INFERIOR to us... im sure they'll have something to say about that..

Take the above example.. do you HONESTLY BELIEVE its more fun BALOONING here than in the US and Europe ? Their Ballooning events would put ours to shame. parang pilit kasi yung ad e.

I'd say stick to ads that is uniquely pinoy, for example, this one:

E what's your take on Malaysia's Truly Asia?

Doesn't it say an underlining message that other countries don't have the authentic Asian experience?

Let's not over-think.. After all, an ad campaign is a subjective message.

And fun is a very subjective experience..

haha, joke lang yung tagline ko! pero you have a point. i don't think din na yung tagline na yan ang nakatulong sa malaysia sa kanilang tourism industry. from what i've heard from other travellers, since malaysia is a predominantly muslim country, yung target market talaga nila is yung muslim countries in the middle east. pinag-aralan talaga nila yung market nila.
