Exclamation Roman Catholic wedding ceremony in a beach or garden, allowed???

Church rates these days are really really costly! We've visited and asked the churches that we would want to have our wedding ceremony be conducted, and we're really surprised rates are from 20K-100K up! On the other hand, we did found churches near our vicinity that are around 6K-14K, yet the environment around is really not good (for us). So we thought what if we just have both the wedding ceremony and the reception all in one place? Like in a garden or on a beach? Some friends told us that it'll be more practical and will really be light on the budget. Now my question is, do priests allow this move? I've read some articles and I guess a lot of priests prefer couples to get married in the house of God (church). Its more Holy.

We do need lots of suggestions/comments/answers, so will do anticipate for an answer.

Hi there, may I ask where exactly you plan to hold your wedding? Will it be around Metro Manila?

I got married around a year ago here in Metro Manila and I personally wanted to have my Catholic Church wedding and reception in just one location (similar to your idea of a garden or beach wedding) so that it will be less hassle for our families and guests. Sad to say (and based on our experience), the Catholic Church is very strict nowadays and only require the wedding ceremony to be held inside the church and not in any other location. I recently have not heard of Catholic priests agreeing to hold the ceremony in any other location other than inside the church. Their reason is to preserve the sanctity of the ceremony and to be formal about being blessed inside the House of God. Although if you or your family knows a priest who can conduct the ceremony outside of the church premises, then maybe you can get in touch with him. This is what I know about marriages being conducted in Metro Manila though, I'm not sure about areas outside Metro Manila or provinces.

I can give you some churches that can somehow meet the ceremony-reception-in-one-venue preference that you are planning, if your wedding will indeed be held in Metro Manila. I just need to confirm this first since you didn't indicate it in your post. Thanks.
