Charice is the 3rd Official Judge-Mentor in ‘The X Factor Philippines’

International singing sensation Charice Pempengco returns to the country to be one of the judge-mentors of the biggest singing-reality competition “The X Factor Philippines.”



Charice joins the Concert King, Martin Nievera, and Mr. Pure Energy, Gary Valenciano, in searching and training the next singing superstar to hit the local music scene. The 19-year-old singer came a long way from being a runner-up in ABS-CBN’s 2005 singing competition “Little Big Star.” Her YouTube video, viewed by more than one million netizens worldwide, catapulted her to international stardom which paved way for her to guest in hit US talk shows Oprah, Ellen, and Good Morning America and share a duet with world-renowned music icons Celine Dion, Andrea Bocelli, and Josh Groban. Pilita Corrales is the 4th Judge/Mentor of 'The X Factor Philippines!'

Asia's Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales will be joining other big names in the music industry as judges/mentors in the upcoming ABS-CBN talent-reality search The X Factor Philippines.

Earlier, ABS-CBN had already confirmed that 'Concert King' Martin Nievera, 'Mr. Pure Energy' Gary Valenciano and international singing sensation Charice Pempengco will be taking on the judges' seats. Now, it is confirmed that Ms. Pilita Corrales will be the 4th judge-mentor of The X Factor Philippines.

Pilita Corrales had been one of the judges in Philippine Idol (Philippines' Idol franchise) together with Maestro Ryan Cayabyab and Master Rapper (the late) Francis Magalona. This stint led her to be chosen as one of the judges of the very first Asian Idol competition held in Indonesia in 2007 (joined by Mau Marcelo) which was eventually won by Singapore's Hady Mirza.

Coco and Angeline's Movie 'Born To Love You' Teasers, Released!

Star Cinema has just released the teasers for the upcoming kilig movie of the year, Born To Love You (formerly You Light Up My Life) starring Coco Martin and Angeline Quinto. This is Angeline's first movie and also the her very first big screen team up with Coco.



In the movie, Angeline Quinto will play a tour guide for Koreans while Coco Martin will play the role of a photographer.

Cristine Reyes Reviving Feud with Sarah Geronimo?

Dahil Sa Pag-ibig star Cristine Reyes might spark another war with the Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo after her controversial revelations on the May 2012 issue of YES! Magazine (see what Cristine has to say on Sarah on the mag's cover).



In an interview with Yes! magazine, Cristine revealed that it wasn't Rayver who first broke Sarah's heart as the singer-actress first fell in and out of love with "a director and a star."

Cristine revealed:

"Do'n ako parang nabo-bother. Kasi, parang hindi niya naman first heartbreak si Rayver, pero binuhos niya lahat kay Rayver ang galit niya sa lalaki."

Cristine Reyes also backed Rayver on the two-timing issue and said that Rayver and Sarah broke up in the summer of 2010 while she and the actor became sweethearts on September of the same year.

Another big revelation of Cristine is that Sarah allegedly demanded that Rayver Cruz be taken out of any song-and-dance number in the ABS-CBN Sunday musical variety show, ASAP.

Cristine dropped the bomb:

"Nag-break sila summer, naging kami September. Bakit noong summer pa lang hindi siya naggagaganyan? No'ng naging kami, saka lang siya naggagaganyan? Di ba, parang ano ba yon?

"So yon yung problema niya, hindi kami ang problema niya. Kasi, kaya ako nagalit, September naging kami na, December binibira-bira pa niya [ si Rayver] sa ASAP. Parang pinaparinggan sa microphone, ganyan-ganyan. Hindi ko na na-take yon, parang 'grabe ka na, sobra ka na.''

"Minsan nawala pa 'yan [Rayver] sa ASAP. Alam n'yo ba na ang nagpapakain sa family niya is ASAP, 'tapos 'papatanggal mo?"

Mainit ang naging pagtanggap ng mga Pinoy sa Hong Kong nang dumayo ang mga Star Magic cagers na sina Rayver Cruz, Jason Abalos, Ejay Falcon, Matt Evans, Young JV, Jose Sarasola, Lance Christopher, Joseph Marco, Gerard Acao, Fred Payawan at Team Captain na si Gerald Anderson para sa isang invitational game. Naganap ang nasabing laro noong Abril 29 sa Southorn Stadium.


Hindi magkamayaw ang mga basketball fanatics sa pag-uumpisa ng laro dahil naging matindi ang labanan sa pagitan ng Star Magic team at HK Pinoy League. Sa first quarter, lumamang ng apat na puntos ang Star Magic team sa score na 17-21. Dumikit ang laban sa dalawang sumunod na quarters at nanatiling lamang ang Star Magic sa score na 41-45 at 65-68.


Sa pagtatapos ng last quarter, nanaig ang fighting spirit ng mga Star Magic cagers na lumamang ng anim na puntos (92-98) at nanalo sa nasabing invitational game. Si Gerald naman ang best player of the game na gumawa ng 38 puntos.


Hindi naman nagpahuli sina Rayver, Young JV at Gerald na aliwin ang mga manonood sa kanilang dance showdown. Naging komedyante naman si Jason nang magpanggap na kalaban ng sariling koponan. Naging masaya ang pagtatapos ng laro dahil nagkaroon din ng pagkakataon na malapitan ng audience ang kanilang iniidolong Star Magic stars.

Asia’s Next Top Model on Studio 23

Studio 23 has acquired the rights to air Asia’s Next Top Model, the Pan-Asian adaptation of the iconic international reality competition series America’s Next Top Model.

“We are honored to be the official carrier of the Asian edition of the world’s most popular ultimate modeling competition, which is licensed in over 100 markets around the world,” said March Ventosa, head of Studio 23 and Cable Channels and Print Media Group (CCPMG). “We hope that the first winner in the prestigious competition will come from the Philippines.”

Filipinas will have the chance to compete in the fashion-themed reality program as it has opened casting calls to aspiring female models aged 18 to 27 years old, at least 5’7” in height, who speak and understand English, and are currently residing in the Philippines, or have a permanent address in the country.

Application can be done via mail or online www.AsiasNextTopModel.tv until May 21, 6 p.m.

Former international model/VJ/actress/presenter Nadya Hutagalung, who was voted one of “Singapore’s Top 20 Most Influential People” by CNN and awarded the “Best TV Host” title by ELLE Magazine Singapore in 2009 will host the show.

Sky Cable buys Destiny Cable’s assets

MANILA, Philippines - Three companies, including Destiny Cable, have agreed sell their cable TV and broadband internet assets and subscribers to the Lopez-owned Sky Cable Corp. (SKY).

Destiny Cable Inc. (DCI), Solid Broadband Corporation (SBC), and Uni-Cable TV Inc. (UNI) said they "have recently forged an agreement" with SKY "to further improve the services provided to their Destiny cable television and MyDestiny broadband internet subscribers."

A statement on the deal released Friday said “the agreement entails the sale of the cable TV and broadband internet assets and subscribers of DCI, SBC, and UNI to SKY.”

“The pay TV and broadband markets require continuous significant investments, if we are to keep up with our major competitors, particularly the direct-to-home satellite (DTH) and telco companies,” said David Lim, president of DCI, SBC, and UNI.

Lim said the agreement was reached order to give their Destiny Cable and MyDestiny broadband subscribers “the best products and services possible.”

To do this, Lim said they “realized that this will entail resources, for digitizing our cable network and expanding our broadband services, that we do not have.”

“We believe our agreement with SKY will allow subscribers to enjoy the benefits of the latest technologies," Lim said.

SKY Chief Operating Officer Rodrigo P. Montinola, meantime, said, “We are happy with the opportunity to extend the unique advantages of the digital cable TV and cable broadband internet platforms to Destiny and MyDestiny subscribers.”

He said SKY “will take extra care not to disrupt the existing services of the current subscribers – they will continue to pay same monthly fees for their subscribed plans, at the same payment centers, and can continue to reach Customer Service at the same numbers. We will make announcements on new services to be made available, at the appropriate time.”

Lim said the deal will allow their holding company, Solid Group Inc., to focus on selling its mobile phone brand, MyPhone.

“Our tie up with SKY came at an opportune time as it allows us to focus on our other core businesses. Our holding company Solid Group Inc (SGI), markets and distributes the leading Filipino mobile phone brand MyPhone," he said.

ABS-CBN Corp.'s Sky Cable is the Philippines’ largest cable television service provider with around 500,000 upscale subscribers in Metro Manila and key urban areas nationwide.

Carmina tells what she'll do if she's in Claudine's shoes

WOW naman, ang dami-raming nagre-request ng tickets for the premiere of Every Breath U Take scheduled tonight at the SM Megamall. Karamihan ay mga editor ng mga kilalang broadsheet tulad ni Crispina Belen, na sasamahan pa raw ang dalawang apo, aged 12 and 10, na obviously ay fans ni Piolo Pascual.

The movie is the third team-up nina Piolo at Angelica Panganiban. In their previous projects together, ayon kay Angelica, she was too young pa kaya expected na walang kilig na naramdaman ang mga manonood.

’Di pa raw siya noon palaban sa halikan at intimate scenes nila ni Piolo.

Unlike dito sa Every Breath... daw na kumbaga sa boksing, ‘pound for pound’ ang reaction niya lalo na sa bawat kissing scene nila ni Piolo. Kitang-kita raw ito sa teaser pa lamang ng pelikula.

But what everyone finds cute, ayon pa kay Angelica, is the eksena showing her kissing the kili-kili of Piolo. Mabuti na lang at wala yatang kiliti si Piolo sa kanyang armpit. O, puwedeng mayroon, but for the sake of the scene, Piolo chose not to react.

It’s Angelica’s first time na maidirek ni Mae Cruz in a movie. Impressed with the way Direk Mae works, she will not mind, she said, working with her again.

But we all know, of course, that in her next movie, titled One More Try with Dingdong Dantes, Zanjoe Marudo and Angel Locsin, she will have blockbuster director Ruel Bayani.

When in their talk show, SIR (Showbiz Inside Report), Carmina Villarroel was reportedly asked by fellow host Joey Marquez how her ‘honey’ (her term of endearment for love partner Zoren Legaspi) would have reacted if they, like the now controversial violent incident involving Claudine Barretto, Raymart Santiago and broadsheet columnist-cum-radio host Mon Tulfo, found themselves (she, Zoren and their twins Mavy and Cassy) in the same situation, she said: “Ah, napag-usapan na namin ’yan. At ang naging reaction ni Zoren, hahayaan daw niya akong magtatalak nang magtatalak. He’ll make sure, though, na ’di siya present at ang mga bata.

“Iiwanan din daw nila ako.”

But, of course, Carmina said, she is not the type who easily loses her cool. Lalo na kung ang mga taong ka-engkuwentro niya ay nakakahigit sa status niya sa buhay.

Besides, in fairness kay Carmina, ayon sa kanyang talent manager na si Dolor Guevarra, she never forgets na isa siyang artista and should behave like one when in public.

Kasama ni Carmina sa SIR sina Janice de Belen, Joey Marquez and Ogie Diaz.

Both Carmina and Janice are scheduled to start work with their individual series for ABS-CBN.

Carmina will co-stars with Diether Ocampo and child actor Zaijan Jaramillo in an upcoming teleserye reportedly titled Lorenzo’s Time.

Janice upcoming series naman titled Ina, Kapatid at Anak will co-star her with Eddie Gutierrez, Kim Chiu, Maja Savador at Xian Lim at Enchong Dee.

We learned from Eddie that the series will be directed by Don Cuaresma.

KARAY-KARAY ni Direk Joyce Bernal si Slater Young, PBB 2012 grand champ sa bonggang 42nd b’day ni Jun Lalin (Annabelle Rama’s executive assistant) na ginanap sa events place ng Imperial Palace ni Mother Lily noong Sabado.

Bulong agad sa atin ng isang kasama nila: “Nagwo-workshop po siya (Slater) para sa torrid kissing scene nila ni Eugene “Uge” Domingo sa indie movie ng “Kimmy Dora 2.”

Hindi raw full length ang participation ng engineer turned artist pero, ito ang pinaka-mabisang baptism of fire niya para tuluyang mawala ang pagka-mahiyain. He’s the latest conquest ni Uge at the same time, addition sa humahabang listahan ng naga-guapuhang leading men niyang kinabibilangan lang naman nina Dingdong Dantes, Diether Ocampo, Zanjoe Marudo, at Tom Rodriguez among others.

Hindi naman kataka-taka ito dahil isa sa mga producers ng indie movie ay ang manager ni Slater na si Ericson Raymundo na alam naman nating manager din ni Sam Milby, et al.

Very wise decision ito on the part of Eric. Kailangan lang daw na mamili sila ng magiging leading lady ni Slater. Kung magiging busy si KC Concepcion (na kasalukuyang nagwo-workshop kasama si Derek Ramsay), puwede rin daw ang agresibong si Cristine Reyes na mas bagay sa kanya at makakapagturo din kung paano maging effective on screen ang isang kissing scene.

Hanggang ngayon, hindi pa rin makapaniwala ang richie-rich ex-housemate na pinagkakaguluhan na siya, hindi lamang ng mga fans, kundi pati ng mga movie press. Sa totoo lang, maging ang inyong lingkod na ka-table niya sa mga sandaling iyon ay nakipag-piktyuran rin sa kanya, hehe!

Kathryn Bernardo Thankful for the Success of Princess and I

Kathryn Bernardo is thankful for the unrelenting warm support of TV viewers for ABS-CBN’s ‘royal drama,’ “Princess and I.”
“I am grateful that we have consistent high TV ratings and now it’s even getting higher. So I really hope that the viewers continue to follow the adventures of Mikay every night because we are all doing our best to make it much better,” shared Kathryn.

Based on the latest data of Kantar Media, the trending and top-rating drama series topbilled by the ‘primetime princess’ Kathryn together with its powerhouse cast Albert Martinez, Gretchen Barretto, Precious Lara Quigaman, Dominic Ochoa, Enrique Gil, Daniel Padilla, and Khalil Ramos gained a national TV rating of 31.7%, or almost 15 points higher than the 16.8% national TV rating garnered by its rival program in GMA, “Biritera.”

Piolo became the most awarded actor for a single movie in 2002 and in the following year, he started his singing career with a self-titled album “Piolo.”

Piolo Pascual and Kuh Ledesma are set to perform with Kuh’s former band, Music and Magic, one of her very first bands before she was launched as a solo performer, going on to become the first Philippine singer to receive the Salem Music Award in London. Music and Magic is now made up Bobby Taylo, Jeanette Casuga and Vicky Sevilla.

Also performing is the all-new San Francisco-based band Legaci, made up Filipino Americans Chris Abad, Jason Atencion, Del Lazaro and Micah Tolentino. Legaci were Justin Bieber’s backup singers for his debut concert tour “My World Tour” in 2010, releasing their debut single entitled “All Day” in December 2011.

Ticket prices start at $29.50 and can be purchased on Ticketmaster.com, by phone at 800-745-3000 or at the casino’s ticket booth. These tickets also serve as admission to the broadcast of the “Pacquiao vs. Bradley” fight after the concert.

Empress and Nikki’s Funny Antics Trend Worldwide on Twitter

“Mundo Man ay Magunaw” onscreen sisters Empress and Nikki Gil recently trended worlwide on the popular microblogging site, Twitter as they made everybody laugh out loud with their guest appearance in the ‘trending’ talkshow of Vice Ganda, “Gandang Gabi Vice..”



Far from their characters in the afternoon drama series, TV viewers were amused and surprised with Empress and Nikki’s personal sharings and funny antics in a special segment in “GGV,” especially with Nikki’s unusual ‘banana phobia’ and Empress’ dream to have a singing career. As a result, hash tags ‘Go Empress’ and ‘Nikki Gil’ quickly became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter after the audience shared their enjoyment over the said segment.

Meanwhile, unlike Empress and Nikki’s wacky personalities behind the camera, their characters Sheryl (Empress) and Jenny (Nikki) in “Mundo Man ay Magunaw” continue to struggle with the different revelations about their own identities.
